Rating: Summary: Far ahead of it's time. Review: "Texas Chainsaw Massacre:The Next Generation" is a movie that was panned by the critics upon it's initial release. Then a movie called "Scream" came along, claiming to be the first in the new wave of self aware movies. The critics loved it. But these same critics hated "Texas chainsaw massacre:The next generation" for the same reasons they loved "Scream". In both movies the teenagers are self aware, they claim it's stupid to go wandering in the woods alone with a killer loose but they do it anyway. They claim it's stupid when a killers stalking you, to run up the stairs when you should run out the front door but again, they do it anyway. The problem the critics had with this chainsaw sequel is that they just didn't get that it was being self aware way before "Scream" came around. "Scream" blatantly screamed it was being self aware so the critics couldn't miss it's fool proof ad campaign. However this chainsaw sequel used much more subtle, humourous touches that are far more effective than "Scream" and when the movie was released initially in 1995, it was way ahead of it's time. It tells the story of 4 teenagers on Prom night who have a head on collision with another car on a Texas backroad. Looking for help they stumble upon Leatherface with his equally psychotic clan and Prom night doesn't go exactly as planned.... The dialogue of the movie is incredibly witty and the characters are coloured with their own style of humour. Here we have the cliches. The bimbo, the jock, the virgin, the nice guy. But what soon breaks down the cliches is the way they're played out. These characters are intelligent and do all the right things in their disastrous situation but they still die anyway. They know that in horror movies people always get killed in the woods. They know that these victims always end up with their pictures on "Current Edition" and they know that the battery will probably run out in their flash light just at that crucial moment but what they don't realise is how close to the truth they really are and although funny at first, when it actually occurs, it's incredibly disturbing and genuinely scary to see these once funny, amiable characters go through hell. Buy this movie on DVD. It's worth every cent.
Rating: Summary: One of the Worst Pieces of $%^t I Have Ever Seen Review: And trust me, that is saying a LOT. This is coming from someone who has sat through The Denists, 8 Heads In a Duffle Bag, Milo, The Men's Club, and trust me on this, MANY more. I will be honest here and say I have not yet been able to bring myself to watch the last 20 minutes of this movie. I don't think I can do it. WHY did I rent this? Was I on drugs? Did I go momentarily insane? My choices at Blockbuster were Videodrome, Drugstore Cowboy, and let's see, I should get one more movie here, how about...hmmm, what the heck, I'll rent this Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel #4. I should have instead taken the $3 and bought myself a 2 by 4 and hit myself in the head with it repeatedly for 70 minutes, as it would have been far more pleasant and less painful. Let's name some of the things this movie features so far: 1. Leatherface and other villians simply wander casually onscreen with no buildup or suspense whatsoever. 2. Leatherface is a pu**y. 3. The FX budget must have been so cheap, they blew it all on a rotting corpse in a bathtub, because there's a scene where a villian kills a teen by repeatedly running him over, and all they show is the interior of the car and Matthew McConahoey (sp?) saying, "yee-haw! I sure done run him over real good!"etc. 4. Putrid acting, especially from Zellwieger. 5. No plot whatsoever. 6. Oh, why am I even wasting my time discussing this crap? Trust me, SAVE YOUR MONEY. Even if you can watch it for free, DON'T DO IT! Make someone pay you at least 50 bucks if they ask you to sit through this godawful excuse of a movie. I give it NEGATIVE 10 stars.
Rating: Summary: Piece of s*** Review: Well I thought that part 3 was the worst in the series but then came along "the Next Generation" and it proved me wrong. Here are reasons why I think the latest "Chainsaw" movie sucks. 1. Wasn't even a sequel really, just a horrible very unscary remake of the original. 2. The family was so boring, they ate pizza?!?!?! Aren't they cannibals? 3. Leatherface. If you've seen the movie then you'll know what I mean. His mask didn't look like human skin just a piece of latex, he wore an army jacket at one point and later in the movie a dress(!), he screamed like a little kid nonstop, he had long hair which looked awkward, this is just a few of the many many things I hated about this so called Leatherface. 4. The annoying actors and actresses. 5. No gore whatsoever not even a drop of blood. So those are the 5 main reasons. Don't even bother with this one. Pretend it doesn't even exist. Watch part 2 the ultimate sequel.
Rating: Summary: What is this? Review: Plot-impared, badly acted, bad scrpit and timing make up this really bad scary movie that really has no real point. I really thought it was a waste of time sequel to something that wasn't that good anyway. You would have to be as sick as the family featured to enjoy this. One star is too high of a rating. A give it a BOMB.
Rating: Summary: Pure Garbage, A disgrace to the series Review: I have never been so dissapointed with a movie in my life. To start with it made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Who was that guy in the limo and what did it have to do with the movie??? Who knows. I enjoyed parts 1,2 and 3 and consider them to be some of the best horror movies ever made. Part 4 is a piece of garbage. I know they hadn't done blockbuster movies like "A time to Kill" or "Jerry Maguire" yet, but why on earth would two accomplished good actors like Matthew McConaughey and Renne Zellweger agree to this trash? I agree with the other guy, Plan 9 from Outer Space is no longer the worst movie ever made.
Rating: Summary: Everyone in missing the point!!!!! Review: If you have seen all of the Texas' movies you will realize that ever since the second one, the movies are about torture, not about killing everybody with a chainsaw!!! These movies now are about a crazed family kidnapping someone and driving them completely crazy!!!!
Rating: Summary: not good Review: this is a decent movie but just is predicable, uneven performances, and lost its effect that the earlier ones had of this series.
Rating: Summary: Garbage! Review: That pretty much tells the story, garbage. What an embarassment to the horror industry.
Rating: Summary: I have gotten more out of watching a blue screen Review: Ever since, I have seen this film I have had trouble sleeping, not because it is scary but rather because somewhere in this world someone felt that this movie needed to be made. And the fact that someone like this exists is just terrifying. This is without a shadow of a doubt one of the worst movies I have ever seen in my life. There was no plot, no point and really no reason for this movie to be made. To be perfectly honest I would have rather been placed in a burlap bag and been beaten savagely with a stick, rather then watch this movie. I have gotten more out watching a blue screen then this film (and I use that term loosely). Please do yourself and all of mankind a favor and do not watch this film.
Rating: Summary: UNMISSABLE Review: This the latest instalment in the series is clearly the best. Robert Jacks is amazing as the charming Leatherface. This film is quite simply a must.
