Summary: Adequate horror
Review: This was probably one of the earlier imitators of the superior 'Scream'. In it a group of friends run over a man in the dead of night, disposing of the body in the sea and attempting to get on with their lives. Of course, he's not dead and stalks the teens in a raincoat and a hook for a hand.First of all, despite the tired plot, this isn't half bad. Despite having a miserable-looking Jennifer Love Hewitt and the simply terrible Freddie Prinze Junior, it does have the always vibrant Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillipe. Interestingly enough, this movie hit British shores before 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' did, so any irony was lost on first watching. Of course, Gellar was again to subvert her role in the classy 'Scream 2'. There's also Anne Heche on top form. It's not without frights either, and there are plenty of moments that will make you jump. Unfortunately, this is all that it really amounts to - reactionary garbage. Of course, it doesn't pretend to be anything else but it serves as nothing more than entertainment. Strangely though, the movie tends to focus more on Gellar than its main star Jennifer Love Hewitt. Indeed, her chase scene is much longer. Perhaps most impressive about the movie though is that the sense of aspirations never fulfilled. In fact, all of our characters are brought back to the same sleepy fishing village that they swore they'd seen the back of. However, it's still mostly scares and frights and when Prinze Junior or Hewitt are left on screen alone it tends to get a bit dull.

Summary: If you're going to bury the truth, make sure it stays buried
Review: Yes, "I Know What You Did Last Summer" does seem like some corny teenybopper popcorn flick; but it's not. Believe me, I went into this film with pretty low expectations, but was pleasantly surprised with the level of terror provided! And it's not cheap terror, it's genuine because of the suspense director Jim Gillespie consistently builds.
It's the fourth of July and four friends Julie James (Jennifer Love Hewitt), Ray Bronson (Freddie Prinze Junior), Helen Shivers (Sarah Michelle Gellar), and Barry William Cox (Ryan Phillippe) are celebrating their high school graduation and Helen's beauty pageant win. On their way home they hit a man walking down a curved corner in the road. They panic when they learn he's dead and in hopes of saving their futures, decide to dump the body into the ocean. The four friends make a pact to keep it a secret. It was an accident, but it was one they cannot forget.
Their friendships are ruined and they all leave for college and don't talk to each other; they are all depressed and upset. When Julie returns home for summer vacation there is a letter waiting for her. It reads, "I Know What You Did Last Summer". Frightend, Julie goes to find her old friends for help. Was someone else there that night? They think it's only a prank until a man in a slicker with a hook begins to stalk the four friends and torment them in the most vile and disgusting ways imaginable (dead bodies in their trunks, cutting off their hair in sleep, trying to run them over, etc.
Realizing that if they don't find out who's doing this and get rid of him fast, they'll be dead, they search for answers, all the while receiving even more terrifying threats. It sure is a thrilling ride and there are a remarkable number of points in this movie when you jump in fright and scream!
One reason this movie is terrifying is because the situation the characters are in could happen to anybody. Hitting someone with a car could happen to anybody, and what happens after the crash is also believable. The acting by Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ryan Phillippe are phenomenal coming from such young actors. These two are now big stars, but they weren't when they did "I Know What You Did Last Summer" so it's interesting to see how they were before they were famous. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Junior aren't quite as convincing as Hewitt and Phillippe, but they are still enjoyable.
The script for "I Know What You Did Last Summer" was adapted from Lois Duncan's best-selling novel by Kevin Williamson, the writer of "Scream". Yes, the script is in good hands! Williamson's script is a very visual one filled with twists, witty dialogue, and plenty of scares.
The DVD for "I Know What You Did" last summer values quality over quantity and provides only a theatrical trailer and commentary. The trailer is terrifying, very enticing and fun to watch. The commentary by director Jim Gillespie is very informative and insightful for fans of the film. It focuses mainly of production design, but has some interesting blurbs about music, casting, and script changes. Gillespie has a wonderful Scottish accent, which makes the commentary even more delightful to listen to.

Summary: Cliched crap on the Scream bandwagon
Review: I thought the Scream movies sucked, but this was scraping dirt where the bottom of the barrel used to be. It was not scary, it was not entertaining, it wasn't even the least bit interesting. I was bored waiting for the end. You know it's a bad movie when you are watching a movie and you just keep saying to yourself 'Oh please just hurry up and be over." No inspiration at all. It was a movie for the sake of being a movie to get some more cash that fell off the 'Scream' series, that was almost as bad. If you want a good slasher flick, invest in Friday the 13th series.

Summary: My Views on ikwydls (13 yrs old)
Review: I loved I know what you did last summer. It was well thought out and had a great plot, not too mention the cast, Ryan Phillippe, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr.did an excellent job portraying their roles in this thriller.
It all takes place after the Croaker Queen Beauty Pagent on the 4th of July after riding home from a night at the beach Barry (Phillippe)was drunk and leans out the roof, distracting the driver Ray, (Prinze Jr.) to crash into a man crossing the street. They take a quick pulse and announce him as dead, sure that they'd get busted for drunk driver if they went to the police they came up with a plan to dispose of the body, despite Julie (Hewitt)'s crys. This movie is full of twists and turns and the first time you watch it it will definitly be a thriller! Along with this I would also like to recommend scream, or I still Know What You Did Last Summer.. Some downpoints to this movie is that it has strong profanity that can sometimes roll on and on and after time get a bit annoying.. but if your not bothered by that I suggest that you rent or buy this movie. It is well worth watching!

Summary: A Decent Horror Film
Review: There has been much debate(most of it bashing)on this movie. I Know What You Did Last Summer is not Citizen Kane. It's not supposed to be. What this film is and is supposed to be, is a fun excuse to kill a few hours. There are several holes in this film, sure, but who cares?. It's all about the fun. The first half of the film is deliciously set up in a superb way. It's shot well and looks great. The second half falls into "Friday The 13th" type 80's slasher horror, but that's okay. Why?, because it's fun. That's the whole point. The dialogue isn't half bad, but it is nowhere near as witty, clever, or intelligent as any of the "Scream" movies. Jennifer Love Hewitt is a strong addition to the list of Scream Queens. She is quite good in this. Her performance in the sequel, however, is very questionable. Sarah Michelle gellar looks incredible but isn't given enough to do. Same for Prinze and Philippe. The slicker clad fishermen killer is genuinely creepy. His creepiness is practically non-existent in Part 2. The ending, while not very original, is still fun. It's nice to have a jump ending. That same thing was used for the end of Part 2, but with no effect whatsoever. This isn't grand filmmaking, but it's good enough. I hate it when people don't consider these types of movies as "real horror". Whatever. Those are people who create their own rules in their own head. They don't see what other things are all about. It has a few stupid things(a body and a bunch of crabs disappearing in broad daylight)in it. Nothing is perfect. This is harmless, enjoyable fun. Give it a chance. It achieves what it set out to do.

Summary: An Ultimate Thrill Ride.
Review: This film may not outshine Scream or Halloween, but it is one definately good entry to the horror genre. The plot is twisting and wonderfully compelling. The cinematography is good as well. The script was well written by Kevin Williamson (the same mastermind that created the Scream Trilogy) I also liked the fact that there was only four main characters in the story. that way you could did deeper into the people, and get more information about them. The killer isn't exactly as iconic as past villains, but he is frightening and just as blood thirsty as the rest. The movie was overall good and if you are a fan scary movies you will definately enjoy this film.

Summary: Entertaining, but not very scary...
Review: Before this film, Kevin Williamson wrote the superior teeny-bopping "Sceam," which spawned countless imitators in the wake of it's success. "I Know..." was one of the first and was also written by Williamson. I think what makes this a lesser film than "Scream" is that Williamson was out to write a no-holds-barred horror movie, whereas "Scream" had horror elements, but was mostly a love note in the form of parody to his favorite genre. I think he figured he had the teenage market by the balls, so he wanted to prove something. He failed. It's not scary at all. What makes this movie so entertaining is the way it's filmed. It's a nice-looking movie, but not in the "glossy" sense. The style is in the same vein as "Halloween 4;" vibrant blues and shadowy backgrounds. So the cinematography gets a perfect 10 from me. The acting isn't too bad. Hewitt is definitely a better screamer than Neve Campbell and Gellar is good as her ditzy buddy. Ryan Phillippe plays the macho-type well for such a whimpy looking guy. But, Freddie Prinze Jr. brings nothing to the table. Doe-eyed in every scene, he looks more confused than frightened. And his dialogue is simply forced. The idea for the killer must have looked great on paper: shifty psycho who wears raincoat and has a hook for a hand. What could have become a classic horror character turns out to be a real bumbler. The killer also comes equipped with a teleportation device. One minute he's there; you turn your head for a split second and he's suddenly gone. Talk about cliche. Regardless, it's entertaining in that stupid kind of way. You may feel a bit dumber after seeing it, but you can always take comfort in the fact that it's a pretty decent-looking film.

Review: "I Know What You Did Last Summer", in my opinion, was very scary at some points. After the first hour of boredom and getting through learning who the characters were, I was 'hooked'. This movie is a great choice for a scary movie fan.

Review: I thought it was okay. it wasn't so bad. it's like your in the movie and you want to get out of it. but then at the end you say to your self im not the person thats getting killed here its jest a movie so then you want to see it again. I think it is better then I still know what you did last summer. Number 1 is more dead people and scarier. I would rate this 3 *** stars.
