Summary: Sleepaway Camp (1983) d: Hiltzik, Robert
Review: Aka: Nightmare Vaction. Sleepaway Camp where boys and girls come to experience the outdoors, but when the campers end up being killed off they quickly realize that this won't be a vacation to remember. Typical 1980s slasher movie, without a lot of spatter & gore effects. Tons of clumsily staged Friday the 13th (1980) type killings at Arawak children's summer camp, including a sexual pedophile, who is scalded in a vat of boiling water. A boy drowns in an overturned rowboat, another youth is stung to death by angry bees, while a happy camper is knifed to death in the shower. Mike Kellin runs the dilapidated camp, covering up the killings so that his reputation won't suffer. The film has a really sick, and shocking twist ending, when we realize that the repressed young teen killer has more going for her than most could ever think. The director Robert Hiltzik appears on the commentary track, and even though he jokes about making a sequel someday, he fails to mention the two direct to video sequels Sleepaway Camp 2: Unhappy Campers, (1988) and Sleepaway Camp 3: Teenage Wasteland (1989) have already been made. The film can still be found in some bargain bins on VHS, but it is nice to see it enter onto this new DVD medium

Summary: What a classic.
Review: Okay, I saw this flick several years ago with a group of friends. It was like two in the morning and we were rounding out an all night camp-fest. This one was the last on the list and it had been my pick. Well, this one has everything: A sexually confused lead, two gay dads, the quiet, sweet looking girl who gets picked on way too much, her profanity spouting cousin, a fat child molester boiled alive (too funny for words), death via beehive on a toilet seat(!), the bullies clad in 80's metal band t-shirts, the cigar chomping camp manager, the jewish muscle man with a heart of gold, the psychotic aunt, the cop who shows up twice (first with a real mustache, later with a "black tape" mustache), an arrow through the throat, death via curling iron, the list goes on and on. Another thing, I fell head-over-heels in love with Felissa Rose. Whatever happened to her? This is a GREAT film to watch with a group of friends. There are plenty of things to laugh at and the ending is something to be reckoned with.

Summary: This Movie is Garbage
Review: This movie was totally stupid and random. One scene a guy falls out of his canoe while being an idiot in the middle of the night. And it just so happens that the killer is underwater waiting for him. Its so stupid, I would definitely not rent this movie if I knew how rotten it was. I prefer the Evil Dead series or Robot Ninja (a disgusting gore fest).

Review: this movie is a must for any horror fan, it was a sensational work of horror, i loved it , it had all the right qualities i look for in a movie. It has just the right blend of mystery, and horror, definatly a classic!!

Summary: ODD SLASH AND HACK MOVIE
Review: I recomend anyone who loves horror films(specialy cheesy b-flicks and slash and hack movies)to watch this one. The movie is kind of slow at starting out but you will notice that this is not a typical slacher movie. I recomend picking the film up to watch the really bizzare ending and also for the twisted plot twists. Anyone who loves theses types of movies(I love all horror films)Should Automaticly pick this up.

Summary: Average Movie with a Great Twist
Review: First off, I'm not going to give you a detailed synopsis of the movie because I hate it when people tell you the entire movie and don't leave much to a review...I had sent away for this movie after hearing these reviews. All I really wanted to see was this "disturbing ending." While watching the movie, I wasn't sure how the ending would make up for the laughable acting in the movie. The opening sequence is decent (speedboad accident, killing Angela's Father and "brother"), yet the acting, from the two teens in the boat, is funny. 8 years later, Angela goes to camp with her foul mouthed cousin Ricky. She now lives with her cousin and Aunt. Her acting is quite questionable. Since Angela is quiet, the kids pick on her only to be offed by a mysterious killer. The killings are pretty good. Since it's the '80's there aren't the quick "MTV" cuts and jumps that horror movies have now, but they're not bad. I was especially impressed by the makeup in the movie. You can tell the budget is low and they worked well with what they had, better than most movies that have bigger budgets. This movie does not hold off, in children/teen/preteen deaths. Almost all the people killed are in their early teens and some are younger. Now to the ending. I will, of course, not tell you what happens because that should be your main point in seeing this movie. It does come out of left field and takes you by surprise. It's quite nasty and a little disturbing. You'll think about it after the movie is over, filling in the loop holes with the answer given at the end. I recommend this film mainly for the ending. Don't find out what it is, the movie will not be the same...

Summary: Great Fun
Review: I am a big fan of 80's horror flicks that are lesser known, but not super gory. Sleepaway Camp blew me away with its greatness! Sure its hilariously bad and cheesy but Angela gives a great performance. I found the camp director hilarious and also the attempts at Angela's boyfriend to get with her. So funny. The ending is simply one of the best I have ever seen in any movie, horror or otherwise. Though soooo much is unexplained this is a great fun flick.

Summary: Just Another Slasher??? I think not.
Review: If you are looking for another brainless, senseless gore fest, then Sleepaway Camp is not for you. If you are willing to look past early 1980's cheesiness, and low budget; this may be one of the best horror films ever made, and definitely of its kind. A word of advice before viewing: pay attention to the small details (you will get the most out of the movie). I promise this movie will provolk thoughts, and tease with your emotions.

Summary: Oh......My......Gawd!!!
Review: Boy does this movie brings me back....way back to highschool when this flick first hit the theaters in 1983. Just bought it and was pleasantly surprised how much better it was. Okay, the acting is bad, the killings are a bit twisted, but I can remember so well the audiences reaction to the surprise ending that had us all shocked, horrified, and laughing all at the same time!! What an ending!! All the brats at this camp get it and more....and ladies, leave the curling irons at home!!!! Pure enjoyable trash for all horror junkies.
