Rating: Summary: Very scary, bone-chilling fun! Review: Michael Meyers isn't dead yet... I'm glad to see that for it's 20 year reunion, the Halloween series made one last scare. I've seen this movie various times and I jump every time. This film shows that horror films aren't just about gore and sex, but about fast-paced, intense action! I give it 4 stars.
Rating: Summary: This is the best Halloween movie out of the series!! Review: Halloween H20 (Halloween 7) is the best Halloween movie so far in the whole series!! It has alot of suspense, a good plot, it is a good horror movie, a great sequel and its not to gory except for a few scenes.
Rating: Summary: Simply Incredible! Review: Indeed, amazing. You might see some bad reviews like, people bashing the film for no reason. The thing is, you have to know what you're about to watch, and it was exactly what i wanted to see. Saw it 3 times already, and i have no words to describe it. Amazing. The soundtrack is awesome as well, so don't mind the bad reviews - it's prolly those kinda people who go to see 'halloween' expecting to see 'The Shining' or 'Rosemary's Baby' - oh please, gimme a break!
Rating: Summary: The MOST awesome story of the series Review: This movie will long be remembered. Finally it is about time for Laurie Strode to get revenge on her brother. Also this movie has the coolest effects of gore out of all horror movies combined. Kind of like when Michael drove the hockey skate into the kids face.
Rating: Summary: A feeble attempt to re-live the original nightmare Review: Needless to say that the latest installment of the Halloween franchise failed miserably in it's attempts to try and bring back the spirit of the original cult classic (but after six sequels this is to be expected). Miner's original idea of having Laurie Strode face the terror again was commendable as an idea, but it stopped there. One reason why this film didn't quite meet this viewer's expectations was that it was difficult to figure out what audience this movie is directed towards. When trying to sell a film, filmmakers will gear it towards a certain audience so that that audience will make up the majority of those watching the film. In Halloween H2O by bringing Laurie back, the logical target audience would be those viewers who were the original audience of the first Halloween film. They can appreciate her return more than say teenagers would. However, if this is the case why does Miner insist on weighing down the cast with nothing but upstart teenagers with the exception of three or four adults? So, if the target audience is teenagers, then why bring back Laurie at all? And why bring her back as an alcoholic, overprotective mother? This however, was the least of the films problems. The most being Michael Meyers himself. At what point did Michael Meyers turn from a terrifying menace to a clown? Michael was more horrifying when he was known as The Shape rather than as Michael Meyers. For one thing his mask has changed from its original expressionless glare with eyeholes black as the Devil's eyes to this newer model with more definate features (it almost looks like he's smiling now) and eyeholes that not only show the eyes but part of Michael's face as well. Also, and it may just be this viewer, but has Michael shrunk in his old age? In the original film Michael was this towering shape, now he's only a couple of inches taller than some seventeen year old (who isn't even the tallest teen in the film). Also twenty years ago Michael would never have chased after his victims; he knew the reward that lies in patience. Now, he's chasing after all his victims, and his teenage victims are now even being able to get shots in on Michael. One of Miner's problems in directing the film is that he has abandoned all the techniques Carpenter used in the original that made the film a success. They mentioined Carpenter's name enough in the opening credits, but made it a point to break away from anything and everything Carpenter did in the original that made it as scary as it was. Carpenter was the master of subtlety in his films which is why his horror films were so scary. He understood that less is more; the less he showed the more scary the scenes became. He had a strong control of his scenes so that he would only show the audience what he wanted them to see when he wanted them to see it. He wouldn't have big scenes where the slasher is busting through windows trying to get at the helpless babysitter, instead he'd show nothing but the babysitter then out of the recesses of darkness, show the terrifying white mask ever so slowly. This would raise the audiences anticipation making the death scenes that much more intense. Miner feels that large open death scenes and lots of gore are a better substitute for terror. He puts his scenes right in the open allowing the audience to grasp everything at once. This leaves little to the imagination. In one of the first scenes in the film, Miner has Michael slashing some poor victim in his full glory. Since this doesn't appeal to the audience's sense of imagination, it's not as scary as would be anticipated. Carpenter also was a genius in his ability to use his soundtracks in the telling of his stories. They became a major element in what made the film as scary as it was. Miner chooses to almost completely abandon the original score with the exception of maybe two scenes, and in those scenes he has changed the music so that rather than it being the original blood-curdling theme, it's a more commercial, less terrifying version of it. Now, I'd like to say that what this film lacks in horror sense it makes up in heart, but in this case heart doesn't work because the problem with bringing back Laurie is that the audience now doesn't Michael as the menacing shape, but as she sees him, her brother, and for some reason it's just difficult to be terrified by your brother. The ending just seems too Family Ties-ish, I mean if this is the man who has been trying to kill you for the last twenty years, he is no longer your brother, there should be none of this remorse in his destruction. Now, without revealing anything about the ending, let's just close by saying "like that's going to stop him." Michael will return, I guarantee it.
Rating: Summary: In my book this movie gets a TURKEY... Review: All I have to say is don't waste your money on this cinematic garbage. It was boring and even lame to say the least. And why did they find the need to change the music and his mask? This is deffinately one of THE WORST movies I have EVER seen!
Rating: Summary: Very bad film Review: This is a real BAD film!!! Comparing to the other new sacarry movies, it's even worst than Urban Legend!! You think it doesn't exist? Watch it!! It's well done, but the story and the screemplay are terrible.
Rating: Summary: boring Review: I was really expecting a lot from this movie. I couldn't believe how boring it actually was though. It was the first and only halloween movie I'll ever see. It was too predictable.
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Review: Hmmm...what can I say...it was good once it got going...I think that Jamie Lee and the cast did a bang up job, portraying their charectors. It could have had a little more action to it though. All in all it was great!
Rating: Summary: If I could give this ZERO STARS I would Review: Maybe I missed something that the rest of these viewers saw. Because I thought this was literally one of the worst movies I have ever seen. It was not funny, it was TOTALLY predictable (even though I've never seen any of the original Halloween movies), the plot was weak...and I didn't even go into it expecting much! If this is the best of the genre, I'll be giving up horror movies. Spend your money on something else!
