Summary: Good Follow Up
Review: Halloween 2 picks right up where the original left off.After Loomis(Donald Pleasense) shot Michael, he looked down to see Michael was gone. Laurie Strode(Jamie Lee Curtis) who survived the attack from Michael is now off to the hospital. Michael Myers now played by Dick Warlock follows Laurie to the hospital while Loomis tries to find Michael. Why Michael Myers is after Laurie is revealed. The Script was once again wrote by John Carpenter and Debra Hill. Rick Rosenthal is now Director and did a fairly good job. But Carpenter did come back to do some reshoots. Halloween 2 gets off to a fast start then slows down before picking up again. It's best to watch Hallowen 2 right after the original, if you wait too long you might find yourself getting a bit bored at times. Watching them back to back though is the best way too go very creepy that way.

Summary: The Nightmare Continues
Review: Halloween II picks up where the original film leaves off. Michael Myers, having just been shot six times and falling two stories out a window, gets up and walks away, much to the surprise of Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasence). Myers' intended victim is Laurie Strode, played by Jamie Lee Curtis. As it turns out, Laurie is really Michael's sister. Laurie is taken to the local hospital where she is heavily sedated. Unfortunately for her and the hospital employees, Michael finds out that Laurie is there and he goes to find her. Meanwhile, Dr. Loomis and the Haddonfield police are doing their best to track down Myers, but they are having no luck. Finally, Dr. Loomis is told by the Governor to return to the mental hospital where he works, but he becomes aware of some information that has been kept from him about Michael, so he heads back to Haddonfield hospital to find Michael. Will he make it back before Michael finds Laurie? This is an excellent sequel to the first movie. It almost looks like the first movie has never ended from the way Halloween II starts. The acting performances by Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence are very good, and Michael is his old creepy self. Good old-fashioned horror movie fans will enjoy this very scary sequel.

Summary: "Why won't he die?"
Review: The original "Halloween" film is a classic, one that can be watched repeatedly and still seem scary. However, none of the sequels came close to the terror of the original. "Halloween 2" is probably the best of the sequels and immitators that swamped the horror genre from the day the original "Halloween" was released to the present. The film begins where "Halloween" ends, and we find Michael Myers, bleeding badly, yet still alive and still up to his usual mischief. Laurie Strode has been taken to a nearby hospital, and the Bogeyman is in a hurry to pay her a visit. However, it is much more than just a social meeting. The bulk of the film is staged in the hospital Laurie is staying at. There are no other patients, only Laurie, the staff, and a security guard. And, ofcourse, Michael Myers. The film is dark and shadowy, like its predecessor, and uses the shadows to the films prevail. Donald Pleasance is again in top form is the psychiatrist bent on putting Michael away for good. The movie is mostly exciting, providing for lots of cheap shocks of Michael jumping from the dark and attacking his victims with gruesome precision. These shocks aren't the same kind of suspenseful terror that the original emitted, but its all in good fun. The ending scenes are also very exciting. However, the middle of the film seems to drag a little. The music is used sparingly, and the movie is maybe a bit too dark, especially when Michael isn't even around. I also took stars off for a very gruesome scene in which the boogeyman repeatedly dunks a woman's head into scalding water until her whole face is melting and peeling. Rarely does violence in a film offend me (this scene didn't even really "offend" me), but it is a bit mean. Anyways, for the most part this movie is entertaining, especially if watching it with friends. It provides for some good thrills and chills, and concludes the mayhem that began in part one. Compared to most sequels, this film is excellent. Compared to the original, it is only good.

Summary: Halloween II
Review: Well as you know, "You can't kill the boogeyman," explains John Carpenter in Halloween, and to prove it he brings Michael Myers back in this handsome but grisly sequel. This isn't nearly as good as the first, but it is better than the third one. Jamie Lee Curtis returns as Laurie Strode but spends most of her time cowering in a hospital gown, and Donald Pleasence runs around like a maniac as the panicky doctor desperate to hunt down Myers before he kills again. Carpenter writes and produces with partner Debra Hill, and together they replace the mystery and uncertainty of the original with an exponentially bigger body count and some strange tales about the Druids and pagan ceremonies, and the now-familiar family ties between Michael and Laurie. That was original, but this doesn't have the suspense that the first had. Watch it alone in the dark.

Summary: The beginning of the end
Review: After the surprise success of the original (and best) Halloween, a sequel was naturally churned out, and, as expected didn't hold a candle to the original. Halloween 2 picks up where the first left off, with Michael Myers still on the loose and Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence) on his trail. Survivor Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis) is nearly catatonic and is being taken care of at a hospital, but we soon find out that Michael is on her trail as well. John Carpenter wrote the script but opted not to direct this second installment (although it is said that he re-shot some scenes here and there) which is a big drawback of the film. Director Rick Rosenthal (who directed the latest Halloween: Resurrection) decided to go without most of the cat & mouse-esque Carpenter style suspense of the first film, opting instead to make the film much more graphic than the original. This adds nothing to the film, and the momentary lapses of logic are almost mind numbing. However, this is an important chapter in the Halloween saga, as we learn more about Michael's background including why he is so hell bent on killing Laurie. All in all, Halloween 2 certainly isn't the worst of the series, but don't go into it expecting something as great as the original.

Summary: The Boogeyman Returns!
Review: The sequel to the high anticipated Halloween. I have to admit this was a pretty good sequel on accounting most sequels are bad. This movie was flawed but it was enjoyable to watch. The story for H2 was simple Michael is still alive and he travels to a hospital Laurie Strode is staying well that cant be good can it? This one continues of from the first one when Michael falls off a balcony from six shots by Dr. Loomis. I enjoyed this film a plethora amount. I think this one like Halloween was scary and thrilling. This is what you actually call a Thrill Ride. This one is worth buying not unlike Halloween Ressurection. This one is close to the best of them all.

Summary: Above average sequel, but not as suspenseful as the first
Review: This sequel is a continuation of the first, taking place on the same night the first one did. Michael is still on the loose in Haddonfield, and we see him run from house to house, almost as if he's deciding if he wants to kill certain people or not. (It's actually pretty funny.) Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) has been taken to the hospital for observation, the dumb cops can't find Michael and we see Dr. Loomis start to slip into insanity trying to find our sneaky killer. Michael really gets cracking when he tracks Laurie down to the hospital and shows the nurses and doctors he means business in very gory ways. The final showdown between Loomis, Strode and Myers is awsome, setting the audience up for one hell of an ending. This is an excellent sequel, better than what one expects, and definately above average. If you liked the first one, you'll like this. (13 year old viewer)

Summary: Halloween 2 barely satisfies
Review: This movie fails in many ways. It has "let's make a sequel but forget the plot" all over it. Jamie Lee Curtis returns as Michael Meyer's much sought after victim. In a way, she is the film's main drawcard. Check out the wig she wears in this film (apparently her hair was too short compared to the first film, but needed to be rectified because the sequel took place the same night). Ok, can live with that, but how many people go to an empty hospital? Well in this movie, it seems like Jamie Lee Curtis is the only patient there.
Halloween 2 does have some scary moments, but it also has a few continuity problems. For example, there is a scene where a nurse is heading to the hospital to work nightshift after being out with a friend, but has to take the friend home first. When they leave the parking spot, Michael is in the carpark and can then be seen walking up the street. But when the nurse arrives at the hospital after dropping her friend off, Michael is in the back seat! Impossible !
The film's score is a remixed version of the original Halloween theme and it spoils it in a way. The original score was indeed better.
John Carpenter did not direct this film, he produced it (he directed the first film). It is rumoured that he saw problems with this film early on, but was unable to fix it in his capacity. Halloween 2 is only worth owning if you wish to complete the series.
DVD SUMMARY: Ok, there are various versions of the DVD floating around. The one I have is pretty bad. It is taken from a dirty film print, and you even get the reel change marks thrown in. The print is non-anamorphic and lacks any sharpness. The audio mix is mono surround. The extras include production notes and a trailer. A Special Edition of this movie may occur one day, but essentially it's a bad film - so unlikely to get it.
