Summary: One Hell of A Follow Up To A Classic
Review: Halloween 2 for me nailed the formula right again..Yes the gore was a lot more evident and it was a bit less scary but there were very subtle things in this movie that made the storyline come together..We find out that Laurie is Michael's sister, Michael breaking into the school and writing "Samhain" on the board or desk, and the scenes in downtown Haddonfield are great where you don't see Michael but you see people walking around Haddonfield on Halloween night thru his eyes, not thinking anything of him because it's Halloween, the news reports are great and the little cut in of Night of Living Dead is cool as well..I highly recommend this as part of any horror movie weekend marathon you might have planned...

Summary: Needless sequel is just a run-of-the-kill slasher flick
Review: John Carpenter said it best..."there was just no story left to tell."This money machine's opening overlaps with the first film's closing, picking up where it left off...with Dr. Loomis still chasing shadows as Michael stalks the nearly catatonic Laurie Strode through the halls and basement of the darkest, most deserted hospital you'll ever see. The cat and mouse style of the previous entry is discarded in favor of bloody 'weapon of the moment' murder sequences and the viewers frustration level at waiting for the movie to get truly nail bitingly scary like the first one was will be almost as high as the body count. The only things I can recommend about this DVD are the nice widescreen presentation, Dean Cundy is an excellent cinematographer, and Carpenter's wonderful music score. There are zero real extras on the Goodtimes disc and why is that? No trailers even? But the menu is scored with the Halloween theme and there are some neat little production notes offered, which is nice, if not particularly interesting. Recommended only for the most die hard of slasher fans, those seeking real suspense and scares are better off sticking with the first Halloween.

Summary: Compensates for the lack of gore in 1st film. Great twist!
Review: Halloween was a low budget horror movie and was actually opened in a few select cinemas around the US but when it received rave reviews it was released nationwide and spawned 7 ongoing sequels including this one! We rejoin Dr Loomis and Laurie right where the original film left off. The police are now fully aware of Michael's capabilities after finding the bodies in the house across the street. Laurie is then taken to the local hospital where sadly again she is hunted by Michael who slowly kills off the staff one by one until only he and Laurie are left in the building! But in the meantime Dr Loomis reveals why Michael is obsessed with making sure Laurie doesn't make it through to see daylight! This film is good in terms of the fact that it doesn't fall victim to sequel disease! By that I mean it isn't an exact clone of the first film with new characters. It keeps the story going and introduces many new obstacles. Sadly the fact that John Carpenter felt the need to add lots of blood and gore in this film to make up for the lack of it in the original. The shots look cheap and tacky which doesn't make sense considering the millions that the original film took in! Also the Michael that appears in this isn't as eerie as the one before and his mask clearly isn't the same one used in the first film because it looks as if it's about to fall about! Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence reprise their roles excellently although the character of Laurie has changed in a weird way. In the first film she's a quiet bookworm who adores her friends. You'd think she'd be reeling over their deaths yet in this film she seems fine and spends her time flirting with one of the ambulance drivers! However it's not all gloom. The twist John Carpenter throws in is genious. It also makes you feel a lot more sorry for Laurie as well! All in all a good sequel but looks tacky at times and doesn't seem to be carrying over the entire spirit of the first film. However compared to the awful 3rd Halloween film this one is a masterpiece.

Summary: Just a Cash-in
Review: Halloween II, made purely because of the success of the original classic film, is almost entirely a waste of time watching. With Jamie Lee Curtis returning, Halloween II carries on from the time straight after the events of the original Halloween with Michael Myers at large, roaming the whole city, ready and willing to kill anyone he can get close to.
Gone is the suspense that made the original such a gripping and edge of your seat horror film. Gone is the possibility that Michael Myers could be human; it would at least be nice to have some sort of explanation that would actually make sense but no-one seemed to be thinking about that. The movie chugs along at a pace so slow that it's easy to lose focus and do other things instead, but even if you did do that, you wouldn't be missing much. Characters are poorly developed, and poorly acted, used just as tools for Michael to kill, so there's hardly any symphony felt when they're brutally murdered. So there's not much to like about this. But always fun in any bad horror movie sequel are the deaths, which are plentiful here and very creative. So it's a good enough movie for switching off the mind for and hour and a half and just laughing at how bad it is simply because of the film makers' complacence and poor motives for making it in the first place.

Summary: Already falling into tedium
Review: When it comes to keeping a consistent plot the Halloween series has been the absolute worst. 1 and 2 follow each other okay, 3 is the joker in the pack, Return, Revenge and Curse were nothing but gibberish and H20 and Resurrection have been poor 'post-modern' exersizes in convention merely using the Halloween name.
Right after the original Halloween ended, Laurie is taken away to get stitched up, but Michael Myers ain't quite dead yet. Much of this bore is set in a hospital as he very, very slowly goes about his killing machine business. Donald Pleasence does his mad doctor bit again spouting some crackpot dialogue in a strange, offbeat way. No one listens to him, of course and they end up dead.
It's an okay sequel but it's marred by unbearable slowness. The pace for that particular night was already set by the first film so why slow down and build up again? Regarded as a classic far too often the first film is somewhat obselete today. But it does have one purpose: to always look good when compared to the drek of 'horror' we suffer today. This first sequel, coming a mere three years after the original, already looks tired and the thin premise is stretched to breaking point. There's no purity or class here.
Plus it leaves a lot of questions unanswered. What happened to Jimmy? He died by gently banging his head but didn't keel over until 20 minutes later? What? Why do the credits list someone playing Michael Myers (Age 23) when he is only 21 in the film and is played by Dick Warlock? Why did he kill the Sheriff's daughter (which he does again in Revenge)?
This new DVD from Universal improves upon the cruddy Goodtimes release by giving us a new 2.35:1 anamorphic picture and a sturdy keepcase instead of a horrid snapper. The sound is in not-bad-for-its-day Dolby Stereo. There are no features to speak of, which is annoying since Universal originally promised us commentaries, documentaries, deleted scenes etc. Pick it up cheap.

Review: I've always read that Halloween 4 is thought to be the best sequel. HARDLY (in my opinion).
This film picks right up where the first one left off. If you thought the first one was good, this one is amazing. After he is shot by Dr. Loomis at the end of Halloween, Michael Meyers disappears and part two follows the search for him through the neighborhood and to the local hospital. There, he stalks and kills the staff on his way to Laurie, who is a patient there due to her wounds in the first Halloween. If you liked the first Halloween, you'll love Halloween II. If you're planning on going to see the latest Halloween film, do yourself a favor and go rent part II and stay at home.

Review: THE STORY: Michael Myers stalks Laurie, who is now in a hospital after being attacked by Him in the first one. Dr. Loomis must stop him!!!
MY THOUGHTS: Call me crazy, but I liked this one BETTER than the first one. Why? Well, while Halloween was a classic, Halloween 2 had a higher body count, more blood, and cooler kills- something I look for in slasher films [screw acting!]. Check out all the Myers movies!!!

Summary: Michael returns with VENGENCE.............
Review: Yes the ones that started the series off are the best ones but, this one is not too far behind. This takes off right where the first one left off. Laurie being takin to the hospital with Michael right on her trail. Michael will stop at nothing and will kill everyone that gets in his way. He is EVIL on two legs. This movie, like the first one, still produces good scares without much gore at all. His emotionless mask still scares the hell outta me and the score still makes the hair on the back of my neck raise. The great thing about the Halloween movies are they aren't as far fetched as the FT13 series or NOES series. Michael slowly follows his prey where Jason or Freddy will be chasing someone one sec and then they will be right there the next sec. IMO Jason and Freddy are inferior to the superior Michael Myers. Michael just has more of a scary aspect to him. Anyways this movie is great and one that needs to be in your collection right next to the first one. Me on the otherhand have 3 different versions of the first one and all the rest of them (excluding part 3, which had no business even being in the series) in my collection. These are movies I grew up with and still watch when I want a good scare from time to time. PICK UP and ENJOY!!!!!!
