Rating: Summary: Very good, should be shown in theatres again! Review: This is better than "Halloween II". John Carpenter has this spice that make movies like this really good. This movie is far better than the Freddy Krueger or Jason flicks. This has unexpected twists and turns, and I highly recommend this movie for die-hard Michael Myers fans, with Jamie Lee Curtis to make it extra better. Rated R for violence, language, and adult situations.
Rating: Summary: great horror/thirller film. Review: this movie is cool. It is scary with some funny spots. I'd reccomend this to anyone who loves scary movies.
Rating: Summary: cooooooooooooo! Review: very good slasher movie Jamie Lee Curtis does a good job in this movie and also,i saw Michael Myers Unmasked
Rating: Summary: FOR THE DIEHARD HALLOWEEN FANS Review: John Carpenter's Halloween (on DVD) is quintessential to anyone who loves true horror. The audio has been remastered in 5.1 digital and the video has been cleaned up to today's standards. It's great to watch a movie that was made in 1978 that looks better today than it did then. This movie represents how true horror should be made: Suspense and more suspense. Today's movies like "Scream" and "I know what you did..." fail miserably in their attempts to scare. Weak stories and characters with totally predictable outcomes. Other horror icons such as Freddy or Jason are driven by revenge. Michael is driven by nothing more than evil itself as is so eloquently expressed by Donald Pleasence during one of the movie's scenes. I highly recommend this film if you're sick of "Glam-horror" and want to see how real horror is done. Let JC show you how it's done, boys.
Rating: Summary: This is one of the best John Carpenter FIlm. UNFORGETTABLE. Review: I seen this film, when i was a little boy. I will never forget this scary suspense horror film. I know John Carpenter name in some of his films like Escape From New York, The fog, Star Man, The thing, Big Trouble In Little China, Christine, and Christine. John always used a 2.35.1 format Panavision. I love that format in movies, i but movies in a widescreen format on DVD. MIcheal Myers is one of the scariest soulless killer in film history. Like Norman Bates In Pyscho or any Serial killers in a movie. Written By John Carpenter And Debra Hill. This film is extremly well written on the film story lines. We don`t know how micheal come back to his home town since he killed his sister in 1963 and we don`t why. But is explain in Halloween 2 and H6-The curse of micheal myers. Film Debut of Jamie Lee Curtis Gives a fine performance on the First and Second film. Also a Terrific Performance on H20-Twenty Years later.
Rating: Summary: Halloween, the beginning Review: This is the movie where it all begins . . . and Michael Myers carves himself a place in movie history, well before other horror villains like Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees, and it is among the best in the series. Refrshingly, for horror movies, the bloodletting is pleasantly minimal, with a still-decent body count. The movie opens with a 6-yr-old Michael Myers killing his sister in cold blood and being found by his parents. Happy Halloween, Mr. and Mrs. Myers! However, there is footage which was cut from this movie which is usually aired when this movie is on TV, including 'new footage' with Dr. Loomis, and Laurie and her friends. Michael of course escapes from the mental hospital, so he can go after new blood, though why he chooses Jamie Lee Curtis is not made very clear in this movie. And of course, the multiple attempts to kill Michael will not succeed, for there have to be sequels. But Halloween is still one of my favorites from the entire horror genre, and deserves a five-star rating!
Rating: Summary: Living in and loving Halloween Review: I live in the imfamous "Doyle" home and I love every minute of it. "Halloween" is a great movie full of great people! :o)
Rating: Summary: Halloween Review: This movie still scares me up to now. I just never got to see Michael Myers unmasked. If I do see him without his mask then I wouldn't be as scared. The music scares the creep into me. This is a good movie to watch in the theaters. Just make sure you are with someone.
Rating: Summary: Mike Myers Is Still King of the Serial Killers Review: In 1978, John Carpenter directed one of the most influential horror films of all time, Halloween. It is the Citizen Kane of slasher films for its ingenious theme music, Carpenter's brillant presentation, and the simplicity of the plot. The greatest horror films are always those who push the envelope in one form or another. Halloween sigel-handedly created the Slasher Film as we know it today. Sexually active teenagers getting sluaghtered after the act, an Omni-potent figure running around killing teenagers with no higher agenda other than to kill, and the main hero or heroine always being a virgin were not cliches when Debra Hill and John Carpenter created this gothic expressinistic voyage into the heart of darkness. Halloween is not only the blue-print for the Slaher film, but it remains one of the best crafted films of the last thrity years. A must-see. The DVD edition is a marvelous edition of Halloween. Get it if you can find it.
Rating: Summary: The grand-daddy of modern horror/thriller movies. Review: In 1978 a truely frightening movie came out in theatres. It was this movie HALLOWEEN. You see, nothing like this movie was ever released before in theatres. The pure terror and horror that this movie had was not really experienced in movie theatres before. In 1978 this movie broke new ground in Hollywood and imitations have been made ever since by horror/thrasher movies, basing between 75% to 95% of the plot on this classic. From Jamie Lee Curtis to Donald Pleasence everyone in the movie did an outstanding job portraying that horrifying night on October 31, 1978 in Haddonfield, Illinois. The music of John Carpenter is truely scary and I never did look at a carving knife or a pumpkin the same way again. Yes, Laurie Strode there is a boogeyman and he will be back for you 20 years later. A highly recommended classic horror movie.
