Rating: Summary: Like the Original Review: I really was pleased with this sequel. I thought it was scary, and I liked how the new camp was right next door to the old one. It was very similar to the original, and I think that's good because I love the original. I definetly recommend this movie to anyone who likes "Friday the 13th".
Rating: Summary: Only for the die hard Jason fans Review: I'll make this short, Friday 2 is amoung the lamest and dullest of the series. It is not funny or scary and the characters are terrible, except for the wheelchair guy Mark and Crazy Ralph. The only thing that really keeps it above terrible is the last ten minutes and a few of the death scenes were especially good. My advise skip this one and go for the much funner and entertaining Friday 3. Only see this one if you are a die hard Jason fan( like myself ). 2 out of 4 stars.
Rating: Summary: Horror Education for Amazon.com's Mark Englehart Review: The review offered by Mark Englehart is proof that the current horror movie audience is full of pop cultured, brain dead, hipper-than-thou know-it-alls with no idea what true horror films are about. It's obvious that Mr. Englehart is more of a fan of his "witty" comments than the movies he's reviewing. For instance, the fact that he had to reference Scream, in relating that Jason Vorhees' mother was the original killer, when any horror fan could tell you that by referencing the MOVIE ITSELF! Obviously this man is not a fan of classic horror films. He should spend more time studying the classics, and less time using parentheses for his smarty pants comments. Horror films are supposed to HORRIFY, set a mood, scare you, not indulge the stupid with sarcasm and MTV styled attitude. This is why kids under eighteen think the original Halloween is boring. Well they, and Mr. Englehart, can keep their Urban Legends and Valentines and such. Part two is one of the best of the series and any viewer wishing to be scared, and not looking for an excuse to show how many Mystery Science Theater like jokes they can make, knows it.
Rating: Summary: The Terror Continues...Duh! Review: Well it seems that young Jason Voorhees didn't drown at Camp Crystal Lake all those years ago. Apparently, his mom didn't know that, otherwise she wouldn't have gone on that bloody rampage. I guess her death brought him back to life. Maybe her spirit possessed his corpse. Hmmm. Oh well, let's forget logic and enjoy the show. Friday the 13th, Part 2 is basically a remake of the original...so is Part 3...and Part 4...and Part 5 and so on. Jason doesn't have the hockey mask. Instead, he's got an old cloth tied around his head. That's the only difference here. If you want gore galore entertainment, then this is the film for you.
Rating: Summary: The best one and now it is on DVD Review: Parammount introduces us to a great transfer of Friday the 13th part 2. the picture quality is nearly perfect and looks new, colors are strong and solid with no grain at all but during the movie there is minor speckling at some scenes, but it is nothing distracting at all, and for a 20 year old movie the image quality can make anyone think this movie is recent. good sound quality. the only actual extra is a theatrical trailer but still this DVD is worth it for it's good transfer and because it is a great movie in generall. i recommend it to all fans of the genre. Now here is how i grade it. Movie: B+ Image: A- Sound: B Extras:C-
Rating: Summary: Take back what i just said.. Review: after another viewing with my buds something hit me, "this movie isn't that bad!" it has a nice feel to it and the suspense is up to par even though not as mysterious as the first one. Jason has more of a human quality and not someone who randomly is in the woods.. it's great how he actually is scared of the chain saw and doesn't just try to attack the person..also Jason seems to fight instead of just kill in this movie..
Rating: Summary: Except for the very good and Bloody Deaths, this Movie Sucks Review: I thought this movie had a lot more blood, gore, and T&A than the original, but the acting as well as no hint of any sort of plot caused this movie to [stink]. I know stalk/slash movies are supposed to have very little plot, but this one had basically no plot! You have to have at least some sort of plot to keep motivation for the characters! The orginal and bloody deaths, however, made me give this 3 stars. There is also a great scene where we see a girl completly naked(full frontal)!!! Positives - Great Bloody Deaths, Hot Girl Naked Negatives - No Plot, Terrible Acting
Rating: Summary: I love these movies. Review: I do. And if you are looking at this then you probably do so I don't have to sell you. Jason is the killer here, picking up where his mom left off, and it is a lot of fun if you like that sort of thing like I do. So, what about the dvd?? It does not have any real super extras, although I love having the original trailer for the movie. The dvd looks and sounds good, although it is a little grainy in the opening kill and in a few other scenes but still better than the video by far. If you are watching it and it seems too dark, be sure to adjust your dvd settings for widescreen. Then you will enjoy all the Jason madness as it was meant to be!
Rating: Summary: "It [stinks], it really [stinks]!!!" Review: Like I said before, I'm not new to the character Jason Voorhees, but it was still waiting for the Hockey-Masked Jason. But this one is just Jason wearing a bag over his head. And he showed his face at the end and he didn't look anything like in the 3rd movie, when he showed his face to be bald and ugly. So, this one [stinks] just as bad as the first one, Friday the 13th isn't Friday the 13th without the Hockey-masked Jason.
Rating: Summary: The Story behind the gore Review: The Friday the 13th movies have some mysteries that, even though they are never resolved, are fun to try and figure out. This chapter is the introduction of a character who was killed as a little boy, drowned at summer camp in 1957. His mother, who was the killer in part 1, was beheaded and that somehow brought the boy back to life. Five years before part 2 we see him still as that 11 year old boy coming out of the lake, covered in sea weeds. But in part 2, he seems to have grown in size and age. There is also, in part 2, the return of the "town crazy"-who seems to be nothing less than a prophet. All the other townspeople dismiss Jason as a legend, but they are still scared of the camp reopening. His invulnerability is the true key to how Jason stayed 11 years old for 26 years (1957-1985). -Since parts 2, 3, and 4 take place back to back, and part 2 happens five years after part 1, the whole thing takes place the year part 4 came out in the theaters.- He begins to age again when he is reborn at the end of part 1, and like a newborn is easily wounded. In this chapter the heroine slows him down by doing things that would never work in Jason X. She kicks him in the family jewels and plants a machete in his collar bone. Even though he is just a baby, Jason shows his potential as a unstoppable member of the evil dead.
