Rating: Summary: Great Movie. Strangely Framed DVD! Review: I rented TCM2 from Blockbuster a long time ago. I remember that the last shot in the movie featured a bunch of trucks and cars going around in the background. I thought it added a strange sort of irony to the movie. Next time you're driving around, there might be a bunch of people getting murdered right near you. The DVD has them chopped off of the bottom. I thought this might have something to do with the widescreen, ah, who cares.

Rating: Summary: Fun, but no where near the genuis of the origional Review: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 has plenty of great moments, but there are just too many scenes which are sub par to the original's disturbing and horrifying greatness to ignore. The film picks up 14 years after the first film, with Leatherface and family still carving up Texas. But the brother of some of the teenagers in the original (Dennis Hopper) is seeking his revenge and is hot on their trail. When a DJ overhears an on-air attack, she calls up Hopper and soon they're caught up in another grisly tour-de-force. This time, there is more focus on comedy. Sure there are still some greatly disturbing scenes, but it never has the weight of the first masterpiece. Leatherface and his family are almost parodies of their original selves, and never are quite as menacing because of it. The first half of the film is extremely uneven, with none of the great, tense build-up that was so wonderful in the original. Finally, at about the halfway mark when they enter the family's new layer, the fun begins. Despite a few flaws here and there, much of this is great, especially a disturbing scene in which the DJ is forced to wear the face of a victim and dance with Leatherface. The scene is numbing to the bone and is definitely the high point of the film. Also, the final shot of the film is classic and the perfect note to end on. However, the film's second half is just not enough to make up for the faults of the first half. Perhaps if this were a stand alone film, I would have enjoyed it more, but compared to the masterpiece of the original, it just doesn't come close. If you love the first film, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is definitely worth your while and deserves a home in your DVD collection. Its zaniness is fun while disturbing. Just don't expect the greatness of the original.

Rating: Summary: "Dog Will Hunt!!" Review: Tobe Hooper turned the horror genre on its' ear with the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre by using the low production values to his advantage to create a brutally horrifying film. Hooper returned to direct this first sequel with a bit bigger budget, more graceful camera work, more gore, and Dennis Hopper. Hopper plays a sheriff seeking revenge against the infamous cannibal family for the deaths of his brother's children, and Caroline Williams plays a radio DJ the family kidnaps after she hears them {murder} a couple of yuppies. The performances are crazed (Hopper is his usual bare bone psycho self), and the film is laugh out loud hilarious and ludicrous at the same time. Chop Top had me laughing my head off during his entire screen time, and the rest of the cast seems to be having some fun during the filming. All in all, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 might not be as great as the original, but horror and splatter fans will get a kick out of this.
Rating: Summary: Horror Can Be Funny Review: This is the type of movie that makes you laugh and shudder while watching. For each scene of entrails spilling out of a wall or "incoming mail" hammer shot, there's jokes about Leatherface's destruction of Chop Top's Sonny Bono wig and Cook's views on the trials and tribulations of small business owners. Excellent pick for those days when ordinary horror just isn't enough.
Rating: Summary: Scary like Thanksgiving Review: This movie actually scaird me. This is rare since horror films are like rollercoasters, the more you ride them, the less available you are to be played with by them. There is a very unique tone to this movie. For example, a scene where a character is talking to the dj and picking his scalp at the same time. It's not funny or goofy but actually disturbing. It's just real enough to be personal and plausable. It begins in society (safe, everday setting) and then, rather quickly, drags you out of it and into an underworld. This differs from other horror films because usually it begins in society but characters test the limits and leave society (like camping for example). Here the other-world visits her, visits her at work, no less, the picture of our everyday realities. Dennis Hopper is nice in this movie and he has some cool scenes but he is not the gem, the gem is of course the family. What these films are all about.
Rating: Summary: Great sequel, better then the original Review: Let me explain why it is better;although the director himself doesent love this movie i do because it has everything part 1 didn't. Pop culture, music, comedy, action, chainsaw duos, leatherface looks scarier, better chasings, more time with the family shows you just how scary they realy are...a good plot, some gore, and it's an 80's slasher! This is also better because the first one was so weird, nothing was explained completely. i didn't even know they were cannibals in part 1, i thought they collected skelletons, until the part towards the end where sally sees the cook's BBQ is HUMAN-Q. Overall, this is a tad less scary and classy as part 1, but this sequel gets more out then part 1, and let me tell you its a hell of a ride. PS, the DVD is okay, it's double sided and has fullscreen and widescreen format and a trailer.
Rating: Summary: Pretty good Review: I think this is one of the original 80's sequels. It has everything a sequel needs; suspense, good big chasing, action, a chainsaw duo, lots of running and screaming, classic 80's music always playing in the studio scenes. This is probably the best of the chainsaw sequels, this sequel is the only sequel that still has the same family from part 1. See it, it's a must for fans of the series.
Rating: Summary: Overall a good movie Review: It is a great movie but it is not as good as the first. I would have given it 5 stars but it has some comedy in it. If you liked the first one this one is worth renting.
