Rating: Summary: Zombie is Awesome!!! Review: This movie is by far one of the best movie's i've seen since TCM and the Friday the 13th movies. When I heard for the first time it was coming out three years ago i was so excited. Then they gave it an x rating and pulled out. I was [mad]. I heard it was coming out again i was overjoyed. I had to drive to another state just to go see it. I loved every minute of it. Then they put it in a theatre in my town. It lasted 2 days. ... Anyways I can't wait till' it comes out on DVD.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic! Review: First off, this movie is worth seeing and the only reason I downloaded it off the internet is because I was bored plus I had heard about it.I really wasn't interested in the plot and I thought it might be really stupid!I was wrong. It is about 4 teens trying to uncover the ledgend of a freak-murderer named Dr.Satan.They pick up a hitch-hiker named Baby who tells them the tree Dr.Satan was hung on was by her house.Instead, Baby leads them to a house of freaks who now want them dead. The movie goes extreme on the gore and the plot is the best.It was something different to watch instead of watching the same horror films. It was something different and it has a ... end and score.Rob Zombie kinda does the TCM type of film but it is it's own film!10 of 10!
Rating: Summary: This was ... Review: The movie lacked any real coherense and seemed to be lost for what it wanted to be. Did not disturb me or make me laugh. All it did was waste 9.50 of my money and 2 hours of my life. The audience making fun of the movie during it was more entertaining than the terribly boring movie.
Rating: Summary: first successful merging of the European and American styles Review: I've seen this film 5 times so far in the theatre, and already have a copy that's been bootlegged only because I will so be buying this anyway- I just want an R rated print to put next to this unrated cut that I hear is coming out (some of the cheerleader stuff will be changed and rumor has it that 40 minutes or so has been excised; leading me to believe that some of that NBK montagey stuff might well be padding... and some nice padding at that, no offense). So I'm all primed up for a sequel and I'm waiting to see "The Cornbugs" albums take off -will be ordering as soon as possible- if ya don't know, lookit up!! To me, worth the four year wait... right now we couldn't have used it more. Everyone in the theater the last time I went had already seen it a few times and we passed around marshmellow bunnies to shred apart everytime one of the kiddies got whacked!!(note: this could bring back midnight programming with a vengeance) But honestly, this is the only time I've ever seen the Americana Redneck killer style has been merged with the more European "fantastique style"- for more about that check out "Immoral Tales" by Cahill and Toombs. It was the balances in the mood and visuals that counted here, not the plot. Also kudos to Rob for creating a genuine sense of 70s- like the 8 tracks in the rear window and the scifi references from the kids... I remember this all too well. Good God, it even comes with a host!! I've been hearing so much bad things about the movie I had to tell you I LOVE this flick!! ALSO- you people who keep saying it's just like Chainsaw had ought to be ashamed -the girl in the basmement's dress is from Mother's Day, the girls in the cage are from Bloodsucking Freaks, the casket going into an underground zombie place (no, I'm not ruining it) is from Fulci's Gates of Hell, and if you wanna get nuts you can say it's all Alice in Wonderland with the hole in the ground, Otis as the White Rabbit, Spaulding as the Mad Hatter, and Earl as the Red Queen. So there... by the way, groovy soundtrack too (music is mah life!!!ha ha): my grandmother used to tool around the house to that Slim Whitman song!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Rob Zombie has lifted the horror genre from the dead Review: It's extremely hard to describe this movie in words...this movie is just too good. Finnaly there is a horror movie for those of us who appreciate "real" horror movies. I was getting really tired of all the so called horror movies of the past few years..."Scream", "I know what you did last summer", "The Ring", "Darkness Falls"..etc. While some of these had their moments...none gave you the feel of the old classics like "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "Halloween", or Romero's Dead Trilogy. "House of 1000 corpses" takes you back to the feel of those films. I honestly can't say enough about this film, and I am extremely impressed with Zombie's skills as a director. His use of light and camera angles was excellent. The only problem is that it is a little "choppy" at times...I assume this is in the parts that contained scenes that had to be cut to get the R rating. Hopefully he will release an unedited or director's cut on DVD soon and I'm sure that will be perfect. All in all, this is an excellent horror film and any true fan of the horror genre will celebrate this return to horror greatness. My only fear is that all the trouble that Rob Zombie had to go through, (and then the fact that they only released on a limited number of screens), will deter Zombie and other potential great horror film makers from messing with actually filming more great horror films like this. I gave it 5 stars..only because the scale doesn't go any higher.....oh...and I didn't even touch on the music and soundtrack. Zombie creates some truely eerie music that really fit the film. Im not a fan of Rob Zombies music by any means (I don't own any of his CD's), but on the way home from the theater, I stopped off and got the soundtrack....I wanted somthing to remember the film by since I can't stay in the theater continuously. 5 stars....2 thumbs up...whatever..just go see this movie!!!!
Rating: Summary: great movie for people who like blood, violence, and freaks Review: the point of this movie is not really to meant to scare you, but overwhelms you with so much action, blood, gore, and viloence that you leave speechless and cant believe what you just saw. great movie for rob zombie fans.
Rating: Summary: Underlying Commentaries Drive this Film Review: People don't like movies that really scare them. The violence in this film I don't find gratutious. Instead of watering it down or trying to make it funny, Zombie depicts the horror of the events with abandonment. The many commentaries in this film are too numerous to mention. One aspect i liked however, was the idea that beautiful people can be viscious killers too. I mean of course the vivacious and alluring "Baby". It is a shame the film had to be edited so drastically for release to the mass market. Zombie has stated that a special director's cut to be released on DVD in the future. My guess would be that it would be released around Halloween, if the film is not re-released in the theatres at that time. It always amazes me that the most grizzly scenes imaginable can be shown in other films (Jaccob's Ladder, Hellraiser and many more), but put a musician behind it and the Motion Picture Association gets all in a tizzy. I urge you to view this film with an open mind, but DO NOT MISS IT IN THEATRES if you get the chance!
Rating: Summary: when does this movie come to dvd??? Review: I have been searching and searchhing. my bro left for the navy and is getting on leave sometime and we'd love to buy it but we have no clue when it comes out? plz let me know thnx so much
Rating: Summary: Cavet Emptor - Wimps & Sissys Beware Review: I don't normally write reviews on anything for websites, but the mis-informed comments of blackwolf71 screamed (no pun intended) for someone....ANYONE to come to a more direct defense of this brilliant (and unfortunatly over-edited) piece of celluloid. First lets make one thing clear, by definition THIS IS NOT A HORROR MOVIE!! If you came into this hoping for a cute little weak a** teenie horror picture, you are sorely mistaken. This is a member of the much under-appreciated sub-genre of Splatter films. Those nasty little diddys that usually make no real attempt to scare, but to make you feel uncomfortable and sickened, so in that respect, it accomplished just that for said reviewer. Unfortunatly, this was not the type of film that said reviewer was looking for, but for those of us who enjoy squirming in our seats, all I can say is THE SECOND COMING OF SPLATTER HAS ARRIVED!!......and not a moment too soon. As one of the other reviewers mentioned, this movie is clearly not for everyone. If the names Fulci, Hooper, Argento, Romero, & Lewis are not names you're familiar with, or you've never seen such "Video Nasties" as "I Spit On Your Grave", "Deranged", "Maniac", & "Last House On The Left", maybe you ought to sit this one out. For the rest of us, there is the unrated DVD w/ 30 extra minutes (which according to the Z man himself was mostly hacked to get the R rating) to look forward to (coming out this October, from what I heard), & the anticpation of part 2 which can't start shooting soon enough. Sooo in closing, stick to to watered-down, PG-13 kiddie fare Mr. wolf, & leave the gore to us!!!
Rating: Summary: ::the blood and gore ive been waiting for:: Review: ok, ive been waiting for this movie to come out for about 2 years now... ever sinse i heard Rob Zombie was starting a movie project. this movie is totally insane. if you didn't think zombie should be in S5 before, this would change your mind. his twisted thoughts merged into the best horror movie i've ever seen; brilliantly set in the 1960's w/a coupple of college kids. sex, torture, blood, gore... what more could you ask for? finally, a good horror movie without a happy ending.
