Summary: Best scary movie ever, what I've been looking for.
Review: This movie is GREAT!! This movie has finally been what I've been looking for. I wanted a really gory, unbeleivably shocking movie that I didn't even think could be released because of its extreme sentiment. This is it! I've seen the trailer for Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the NEW one), and heard a lot about it, and yes, this movie is identical to it. A bunch of people get lost, go to a house, get chopped up and all die at the end. But its so elaborated and detailed, its gruesome! If you're looking for a REAL scary movie that will actually scare you, Rent this one!

Summary: After a second viewing...
Review: Its amatuerish but it's ambitious. It's disjointed, but its exciting. It's cheezy (at times) but its unique. Its non-sensical but its creepy.

I think the main problem with this movie is that it seems like Rob Zombie has been waiting for the opportunity to direct a horror movie for so long, that when he finally got the chance, he just crammed everything that he possibly could into this. This both helps and hinders the film. On one hand you've got House of 1000 Corpses, a repository of all kinds of creepiness, and then on the other hand you've got House of 1000 Corpses, a repository of bad red-neck dialogue, violence without meaning or lack of meaning (as was the case with say... 8mm, or The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.) But rather you've got a very hazey-motivation for the bad guys which again comes across as cheap and poorly written. However its no secret that this was hacked up by the studios trying to get it a R rating, so we really must give Mr. Zombie the benefit of the doubt here. He's got every kind of film stock at every kind of shutter speed imaginable in this, which at times just makes it look amatuerish and at others genuinely spooky. He's got masks and face paint galone, which again works with and against him; he's got non-stop music in the background, which gives the film a feel somewhat akin to a music video.

Long story short, this is a work of unbridled ambition, which is both admirable but also a tad amatuerish. For isn't the true sign of a great filmmaker the ability to show restraint? Just as Tarantino chose to not add in the CU shots of Officer Nash having his ear cut off in Reservoir Dogs - a shot which probably took hours if not days to prepare for - Zombie could have faired well by easing off the gas ever so slightly. Nevertheless, it is an admirable first film and I for one am excited for the release of whatever he chooses to do next.

Summary: Toxic Trash
Review: Someone culled the sickest evilest and most twisted people from the asylum and said, "Go make a movie". I have watched horror movies for the last forty years and I have never seen a more satanic film in my life. And it wasn't even scary or entertaining.

Summary: An Embarassment to Horror Movies
Review: The only way that a person could actually like this movie is if that person was on heroine. This movie is pathetic, and I encourage NO ONE to see it! It makes no sense whatsoever, and it is just plain stupid! Rob Zombie is a crackhead and shouldn't be allowed to make movies, because he really sucks at it! DO NOT see this movie! This movie doesn't even deserve one star. It deserves no stars at all, it's THAT bad! I am offended and embarrassed as a die hard horror movie fan that this movie was even allowed to be released, because it gives horror a bad name! Rob Zombie, go back to making music, you are a pathetic director!!!!!!!

Summary: Cpt Spaulding makes it worth watching.
Review: Okay This movie had me hooked up until we get to Dr Satan. The begining is awsome. I wouldnt call it scary but their are freakishly unsetteling moments. And what can you say about Cpt Spaulding. He a friggin riot! Cpt. runs a roadside museum of horrors and gas station. He has the best lines the movie produces and is unspeakabily entertaining.
Enter the victims. Four kids visit him and get directions to a Tree were a serial killer was supposedly hung. On root they ofcourse get stuck and end up getting help from a family of freakish serial killers. Now if Rob had left it at that he would have been golden! But in the last 1/2 hour he spins off into a world of mutant monsters that couldnt ever exist. I absolutely hate it when horror movies start off in reality and spin off into the unrealistic. Like Jeepers Creepers. They start off good and set a scary premiss and then you find out the serial killer has wings and a tail. Anyways. If Rob could have stayed a little more realistic this movie would have been rated higher. Just the same I will give it 4 stars simply because I dont want anyone to be deprived of The CPT!!!!

Summary: Craptacular!
Review: Holy underware. What the hell? This movie stunk up the place. I made the mistake of buying this before watching it. The best part of this was the DVD interaction on the menu screen, otherwise this was such a F***ing dud. I had to make up an excuse to return this movie. Like my title says, it was CRAPTACULAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please rent this before you buy it.

Summary: Three Yawns For This Bluff Flick
Review: The story is a monument of clichés; the acting is forced and amateurish; the plot - if you can call it a plot, is so predictable it feels like a 2-hour déjà-vu trip; the whole thing looks more like a music video than a real movie. In other words, Rob Zombie should stick to his music antics and spare us the cinematographic nonsense. A horror movie? My heartbeat didn't go above 65. Only redeeming value: the visuals, for which I will give it a star. Watch it while preparing dinner, them watch a real movie...

Summary: Really good movie!
Review: Give Rob Zombie a break will ya? He had two movie studios turn him down, and this is the first movie he has ever directed! I think he did really well as director of House of 1000 Corpses.
It is pretty much what a good b-movie horror flick should be.
It has a good bit of gore, freaky little clown men, a good setting, and all in all it is pretty darn strange. The plot is about some teenagers driving through the states looking at strange roadside attractions, and then lead themselves to a house of 1000 corpses, or in other words a house full of freaky cannibals and a lot of corpses, and when I say a lot, I mean it! Doesn't that plot ring a bell? Maybe when I said that you thought of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which is exactly what this movie is based on. But anyways, this movie was well done in many ways, not many mess ups. It brought back the feeling of when I was watching the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th films. I give the Zombie a precious amount of credit for keeping the spirit of good horror movies from the 70s and 80s alive. I hope he continues to make movies like this. It would do the horror genre good!
