Rating: Summary: Great movie, unfortunately terrible sequels... Review: The acting was good, the new DVD transfer is good, the sound is pretty good, the big chasing is so funny and creepy that it's crazy. The last 25 minutes are so good, but the first 55 minutes or so are pretty boring, not bad, but slow. The retarted, quick bloodshots and killings and 1 minute makeout scene (like in Halloween 1) are all time fillers that don't add up. This is a cult classic, though and is definately worth a buy to add to a DVD collection.
Rating: Summary: They jsut don't make them like this anymore Review: gory and scary, bit cheesy and dated by todays standards, but still delivers the goods. Way better than the rash of teen horror movies out right now. Dark woods, serial killer, gore = 5 stars
Rating: Summary: THE ORIGINAL SLASHER FLICK Review: Not bad horror flick has Tom Savini's bloody make-up effects, while Betsy Palmer gives a eerie performance as Jason's mother who slashes teens in Camp Crystal Lake where Mrs.Voorhees son Jason died while swimming and counsler's doing sex,not watching him.so this film has a neat plot with some good performances{including young Adrienne King and Kevin Bacon) and director Sean S. Cunningham's direction is fast-paced and this is a horror classic.very awesome.
Rating: Summary: OK MOVIE,TERRIBLE DVD Review: First off this DVD stinks,no extras just a lousy trailer, and bad sound, picture quality goes from good to downright awful at times. Now for the movie itself.Although this came out in 1980 by no means is this a ripoff at all. It is about a boy(Jason Voorhees)that drowned due to irresponible camp councilers. His mother Pamela Voorhees(played by Betsy Palmer)committed a series of murders the following 2 years after the drowning. Then 20 years later the camp is reopening, and the new people to Camp Crystal Lake are in for sheer terror. Awesome Death scene, especially killing Kevin Bacon off.
Rating: Summary: THE BEGINING OF A CLASSIC! Review: I've seen just about all the "Friday the 13th" movies, and I still have to say I think part1 is the best.Even though Jason wasn't in it,it was still something good about the movie. It's just classic horror, and I think the older the horror movie the better.
Rating: Summary: The first one isn't always the best. Review: I think that you should see this before you see any other Friday film, but beware this movie is not as good as the ones with Jason in it. It tends to get very boring at times and the best part is probably the ending. Not the best, but still better than a lot of crappy low-budget horror films out there. I recomend this one before you see any other one, if oyu want this stuff to make sense then you should see all of the films in order.
Rating: Summary: Friday the 13th (1980) Review: Before I begin, I would like to say that this, along with John Carpenter's masterpiece Halloween (1978), started the whole slasher genre. This movie is so populare because back in 1980, no movie had so much violence and you-know-what-that-automatically-gets-you-killed in it. The Story: Seven teenagers and a guy named Steve Christy plan to open Camp Crystal Lake. It was closed due to the drowning of young Jason Vorhees' drowning and the murder of two councelors. At the camp, the people are killed off in various gruesome ways. Although not the best of the series, it's still pretty good.
Rating: Summary: the begining of a journy Review: I've seen every friday the 13th movie ever made and to this day they still never get me board out of my mind. This movie was a perfect way to start off the friday movies. (even though jason wasn't the killer in this one) These friday movies never scared me, I just love watching them!
Rating: Summary: Not what I hoped it would be! Review: This was actually pretty disappointing. While I felt, it had the potential to be so much more suspenseful than "Halloween", it just wasn't. I don't know what went wrong. The setting was a lot more frightening than "Halloween". Also, they could have spent more time developing the characters, even though they weren't very likable to begin with. This is especially true of Alice (Adrienne King). She was too whiney and not pretty enough to be a heroine. Kevin Bacon was probably the best out of all of them, so it's no surprise he's the only one still heard of. The ending, while exciting, still was a disappointment. I also felt that the violence did not add much to this movie. All in all, I'd give "Friday the 13th" 2/5. I'd actually recommend "Friday the 13th: Part 2" over this.
Rating: Summary: Awesome slasher movie! Review: Without this, the first Nightmare On Elm Street, and the first Texas Chainsaw Massacre, there may not be the amount of horror movies there are today. And there surely wouldn't be movies like Scream, Scream 2, Scream 3, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. This is sure-enough a classic and if you haven't seen it, you're not a horror fan and I'm pointing my index finger and laughing at you right at this exact moment.
