Summary: Decent flick, but the DVD is HORRIBLE!
Review: A reviewed this film quite some time ago and gave it 3 stars out of 5 (which means it's a decent flick that's worth checking out despite some flaws). However, the DVD transfer is absolutely hideous.A while ago,me and my friend Ted went to BlockBuster to rent some DVD's.Ted owns a DVD player,so I watched them at his house. The DVD's we rented were Small Soldiers,Cobra,Phantasm and this.A previous reviewer said that the disc totally defeats the purpose of DVD.You can say that again.First off,the picture quality is below-average.It was SUPPOSED to get rid of the grainy photography from the VHS tape.On the DVD, it's actually a bit granier. Some scenes are hard to see.But that's not my real complaint. The sound is horrendous. We had to turn up the volume to maximum level to hear the sound. The actors voices are hard to hear and the same apllies with the sound F/X.The worst sound problem is the hiss.It interrupts every couple of minutes and is REALLY annoying.I kept hollaring and Ted went insane. We just could not take the hiss. The disc is also semi-uncut.Annie's death is completely cut and Ms.Voorhees death is slightly less violent. The extras aren't extras at all. All there is is a theatrical trailer and that's it.Overall,if you want to see Friday The 13th, rent the VHS tape. With almost no extras, bad picture quality, slighly missing footage and horrible sound (the hiss!),this disc should go out of print and remade.with the VHS tape, please! ! It's an INCREDIBLY HUGE waste of money!

Summary: ONE OF THE STUPIDEST MOVIES I'VE EVER SEEN - I LOVE IT!
Review: "FRIDAY THE 13TH" IN MY OPINION, IS A CORNY LOW BUDGET FILM THAT OVER THE YEARS HAS BECOME A CULT CLASSIC. SURE WE DON'T GET JASON UNTIL THE SECOND FILM, BUT YOU HAVE TO RESPECT THE FUN OF THIS FILM. SOME PEOPLE SAY THAT THE MOVIE WAS WRITTEN BY HORRIBLE WRITERS. I THINK THEY PURPOSELY MADE IT THIS WAY. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A SERIOUS PLOT SKIP THIS FILM. BUT IF YOU WANT TO HAVE YOURSELF A GOOD TIME, SEE THIS FILM.

Summary: Decent flick, but the DVD is HORRIBLE!
Review: I reviewed this film quite some time ago.I gave it 3 stars out of 5 (which in my book means OK). However, the DVD transfer is REALLY hideous. And that is NO joke.A while ago me and my friend Ted went to BlockBuster and we rented some DVD's.Ted owns a DVD player,so I went over to his house. The DVD's we rented were Phantasm,Small Soldiers, Cobra and this.A previous reviewer said that the disc totally defeats the purpose of DVD.You can say that again.First off,it's semi-uncut.Annie's death is completely missing,Jack's death is trimmed down by 3 minutes and Ms.Voorhees' death is slightly less violent. The picture quality is awful. It's so grainy it makes the film look like it was shot on a camcorder. The scenes that have dark lighting are nearly impossible to see.The sound is REALLY bad.We had to turn the volume to maximum level to hear the actors voices and all the other sounds. There is also a VERY annoying hiss that interrupts every couple of minutes or so.It sound pretty loud and at times blocks off all the other sounds. There are practically no extras. All there is a theatrical trailer and that's it.No behind the scenes footage, cut scenes, director's commentary or anything.Overall, this DVD is a HUGE waste of money. It costs around $22 bucks, and thankfully when we rented it we had a membership card.Stick with the VHS tape.Trust me. With a horribly grainy picture, irritating sound (the hiss!),slightly missing footage and almost no extras, this DVD should go out of print and be re-made.Steer way clear and stick with the VHS version, please!

Summary: Low Budget Masterpiece
Review: Horror and rock and roll are basically one-in-the-same ... The more money that's thrown into it, the further it strays from the original meaning ...And to a true lover of horror, this film is a classic ... It is truly scary, with an absolutely wonderful / insane killer, and great gore ( yes, you know you like it, or else you'd be watching Fried Green Tomatoes ) ...... as for originality, all I can say is that nothing is really original: The Beatles ripped-off Chuck Berry, Halloween ripped-off Black Christmas, etc. etc ... Frday The 13th is a HORROR film ... I can't understand those who come here to bash it, for this film is what they claim to love ... Horror .. If you don't like this film, you don't like horror ... It's low budget actually enhances the creepy mood, and the soundtrack is great ... A truly unsettling and terrifing experience ...

Summary: I am sick of people putting this down
Review: If somebody makes a movie and it is still rented and bought pretty reguarly then they should at least consider it a decent movie. There is no way that a true horror fan can't like this. If you are a true fan and don't like it your a liar.

Summary: "Friday the 13th" A Classic...
Review: I've watched this movie many times before, and I still think it was well made. It has good scares, the acting is not bad and the Music/Score is amazing (It might remind you of "Psycho" or "Jaws"). The only weakness here is the Cliche Old horror formula plot. A Major attraction in this film is the gruesome way the characters get killed, one by one! By, the way, this movie might have some elements taken from "Halloween". But this is a complete different case.

Summary: Not bad. There are some classic scenes!
Review: Friday The 13th tells the story of a camp on Crystal Lake. Back in the 1950s a young boy named Jason drowns and killings follow at the camp. In 1980 the camp is desided to be reopened. A whole bunch of counselors come. But during a terrible storm all whole bunch of killings occur. Some say it copies Halloween. No it doesnt, but it does use some of the technique from Halloween. This really isnt all that good. It has a decent plot and acting. But itsn all that fun. But once it gets going it gets much better. Rated R for violence, gore, sex, and nudity.

Summary: Classic Slasher
Review: "Friday the 13th". Anyone that hears those words either thinks of superstitions or the slasher series that graced the 1980's with sex, drugs and gore. The first was the best, and it had some originality to it (unlike the 8 sequels), a great heroine, a perfect chase scene and numerous deaths. Not one death is the same. If you don't know the plot by now you must be living under a rock. Camp Crystal Lake has been closed for over 20 years after two murders, a drowning, fires, bad water, etc. In 1980, the owner decides to reopen the camp, hiring 7 counselors to clean up the place before the season begins. Now these counselors are sex crazed, immature, pot smoking, loudmouthed goofballs, perfect beings for one psycho lunatic to knock off. As night falls, an unknown killer (but by now everyone knows who it is, although I won't say who for the sake of anyone who has not seen the film) murders several counselors in various ways: a throat slashing, spear through the neck, axe in the face (my personal favorite), an archery range death (need I say more?), an arrow in the eye and a nice decapitation! Ok, so this isn't Oscar material btu I think it is highly entertaining. I mean, if it wasn't entertaining do you think it would have given birth to countless imitations and 8 sequels! Little tidbit of information for anyone who doesn't know: Jason is NOT the killer in this. He makes a very small cameo in the end as a little boy. No hockey masked loon in this one. Anyway, there are a few scares in this, so rent it.
