Rating: Summary: Great Movie But Im SICK&TIRED OF COMPARING Review: The remake of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre was GREAT!I loved the movie!Im not easily spooked by horror movies but this movie SCARED THE HELL OUTTA ME! Im so sick and tired of people comparing the remake to the original.ITS A REMAKE!It CANT and WONT be JUST LIKE THE ORIGINAL.It was made to be different. And Im tired off people calling us little "tenny-boppers".I may only be 14 but I appreciate the quality of a good movie. In my opinion the original isnt even as great as people are making it seem.Yeah it was scary, but I dont care for it to much.
Rating: Summary: NOT A TRUE STORY!!!! Review: Even though even the original boasted this claim, TCM is not a true story based on events in Texas. The entire story is loosly, and I mean loosly, based on serial killer Ed Gaines, who oddly enough, didn't live in Texas, he lived in the west, Wisconsin I believe, not positive anymore. And lets face a couple of facts, if it was a true story, the orginal and the remake story lines would not differ as much as they do. If you like the old 70s horror flicks, you won't enjoy this one, if you like the slasher, everyones a victum horrors flicks of these days, you will love it....
Rating: Summary: Destruction of a Horror Classic Review: Why call this the Texas Chainsaw Massacre? There were so many awful things about this movies it's hard to keep them all straight....first, it's not a re-make if you completely destroy the original story. Leatherface is a joke, the story is overburrdened with cheap camara tricks, sub-plots, and sexual overtones, none of which are in the original TCM. The movie is worked over tirelessly to try to bring to life a movie that has no pulse. The generation of kids today may enjoy this, but if you are a lover of the 70's genre of horror classics as I am. You will find this to be a boring and weak rendition, not to mention the destruction of a great movie. Skip it, watch the original, you want scary, this isn't it. It was boring, and predictable.
Rating: Summary: THIS MIGHT SURPASS THE ORIGINAL! Review: Well I have seen every TCM movie ever made! So I went to the movie to see this one! It was the scariest movie I have seen in a long long time! Before you go and see it make sure you see the original 1st!!!!!!GREAT MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: rotten, don't bother Review: This was so terribly made I could barely be bothered to write a review for it, but if I can convince at leat one person not to waste their money on this horror-by-numbers farce, it is worth the effort. TCM is Absolute Trash. Go watch the original.
Rating: Summary: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Film Review Review: In the 2003 film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, director Marcus Nispel remakes a classic horror film into a modern masterpiece... This film depicts the classic setting found in films like The Night Of The Living Dead and Nosferatu. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a film where the night time is the time of fear and in that time the isolation occurs with in the group. This proves to be a very powerful element in the film because it is the time of Leatherface and his ability to murder and torture his victims. This is a very common element in horror films because it causes the action parts of the movie to occur. The key setting provides a very necessary element as seen in most horror films. Another strength of the film is the music and how it plays a key role in capturing the viewers attention during certain scenes in the film. The music is very intense in the high action scenes of the film as well as in the parts of the film when certain items pop out and cause fright to the audience. It also keeps the audience's attention by throwing in high pitched sounds when it is unexpected. Due to the intense music The Texas Chainsaw Massacre provides another essential element to the world of horror films. Although the first two elements are necessary in a good horror film, a chase scene is among one of the most influential parts in a horror film. As shown in The Night Of The Living Dead, The Texas Chainsaw massacre allows has a very provocative chase scene. This scene is the most important scene in the whole video since it works up to the climax of the film and eventually takes the film to the resolution after the chase scene occurs. The chase scene also reveals the flaws of Leatherface which helps Jessica Biel's character escape from the insane town. All in all, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has many strengths such as great settings, intense music and a good chase scenewhich make it such a influential horror film. I recommend this film to anyone who is very into horror films because it provides many key elements of a horror film. Another great fact of this film is Leatherface is based off the infamous Ed Gein who was known for murdering people and wearing their body parts. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre presents a very well thought out plot and demonstrates the ways of cannibalism among humans. In conclusion, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a great film which provides the key elements of a horror film and is a film that will live on throughout time.
Rating: Summary: this saw can't even cut through butta.... Review: Audiences say it's not a re-make, but a re-telling of the original film. An updating to make Leatherface & his clan bigger, meaner & nastier, and the teenagers five times as annoying. Who needs it? People say there's a lot of shocks in it but I kept waiting and waiting. The only thing shocking about it was that Leatherface was given an actual name -- Thomas Hewitt. Our buzzing hero was also given a motive for being so ghoulish -- a skin condition that ate away part of his nose. (He should hang out with Michael Jackson!) I felt these unneccessary additions to the story took away the mystery & the madness that made the original so great. The maniac's family left no impression on me. In fact, it was loosely defined. We saw a couple of rotting elderly rednecks in the house, a portly white trash couple in a trailer. None of them did anything uniquely menacing. Was the whole town his family? At least in the original, every family member was distinctively horrifying in their own right. Remember grampa from the original, who sucked blood from that poor girl's finger? Even though the actor who played the sheriff gave an over the top, terrifying performance, it couldn't match the hitchers' chilling self-mutilation in the first film. I just couldn't wait to get the slaughter over with. The photography gave me a headache. It looked as if they lensed the whole thing with a dust choked camera, there were so many greys, blacks, whites & browns in it. The only good thing was that they brought John Larroquete back to narrate the beginning and the end. Hopefully, this will bring an end to a series that's already cannibalizing itself.
Rating: Summary: Seen it 3 times since local release 4 days ago!! Review: I have been a horror fan since the early 80's and have seen many. I can honestly say that this movie scared the pants off me. This is the best horror movie i have probably ever seen. I disagree with the reviewer from perth, being a huge fan of the franchise, the original was and still is one of my all time favourites. But anyone who puts this remake down has issues. If you watch this with an open mind and not grasping onto the original too much, you will thoroughly love this movie. Cant wait for the DVD!
Rating: Summary: Can't get it out of my head! Review: I would like to say to the people who think that this movie was crap compared to the original - Get a life, you are all pathetic. The original movie has to be the worst movie i have ever seen, how can anyone get entertained by a girl screaming for 2 hours, after about 10 minutes you wish she would get killed. The Remake or original in my books is great, I have never been that scared watching a movie and i love all horror movies. It was seriously frightening, i cant stop thinking about it. And for those of you who like to pick on how the movie isnt "perfect" no movie is perfect, movies are meant to entertain and this movie does!!!! probably more than it should.
