Summary: WRONG IS RIGHT
Review: I have been so disappointed by the "horror" movies that are being put out these days by Hollywood. Nothing original, nothing scary...nothing but bare boobs, sex, drinking and blood...no thrills anymore. "Wrong Turn" is on the right path for changing that. The movie has excellent acting and likeable characters (except for two of the early demises; you'll know the ones) along with some of the most effective use of lighting and atmosphere in years. Original story, for the most part, and some great effects, along with some great chase scenes and jolts (the most effective of which is the hide and seek in the treetops!). See this movie now, along with the underrated "Joyride" with Steve Zahn. You won't be disappointed with this double feature!!!!

Summary: A pleasant surprise
Review: A friend recently loaned me Wrong Turn, telling me it was a good time. He was right, Wrong Turn is a pleasant surprise. For starters the film is not all that original and it does follow a similar body count formula most teen horror movies do. A group of young people get stranded in the woods, and as soon as they split up, the body count begins with grisly results. They start getting attacked by canabalistic inbred hillbillys. The films strong female obvious survivor is played by Eliza Dushku, who starred in the awful Bring it On. She does a good job here fighting off the hillbillys, and running in a tight white tank top a lot.
There is a great scene where she and her boring male love interest are hiding under a bed, and they get to witness, one of there now dead friends being hacked up for dinner. That's one of the reasons why I liked this film, it didn't hold back like some of the recsent horror films out there. Also it didnt fall victim to the greedy studio, let's edit the film down to a PG-13 rating to make more money scam. The film ends with the obvious potential for a sequel. So put on your white tank top, pop some popcorn, and enjoy.

Review: I thought this movie was pretty good. I'm from WV, and I really didn't find it very offensive. It scared the hell out of me, but that's about all. I don't think I'll ever go back into the mountains again. I hate them anyway! But, all in all, the movie was great and scary!!!

Summary: It started off so well ...
Review: WRONG TURN has great promise at the beginning. I was even beginning to think that I had found a modern horror film that didn't rely on the cliches that other horror films of today rely on.WRONG TURN started going downhill when the ridiculous looking inbred brothers appeared. So unrealistic, too much makeup ... I didnt even care for the characters after that, as they tried to escape from the evil. Why are film makers still making silly movies like this? What a sheer waste of money. Why not make a film on something worthwhile?

Review: This is the WORST movie ever. Even though Eliza Dushku is hot, the movie is terrible. Bad story, bad acting, bad special effects, it's just bad. Go out and get Dawn of the Dead, now!

Summary: Excellent movie
Review: This movie is so scary because it is so true to life. In other words, this can really happen.
Take a wrong turn in the mountains and beware of inbred brothers. Demented, gory, suspense, great acting. Eliza has come a long way since "True Lies." She is a gifted actress and does her character so well. I will never travel without a map again and if there's a delay, I'm waiting! I will not take a short cut, ever!!

Summary: I can't understand.
Review: The movie starts and seems promising, excerpts from medical and journalistic documents. The setting is ok at first, but then, the inbred show up, whoa ! They are grossly exagerated, and highly unrealistic. Watch the X-Files episode on the same subject, and you'll have a better time. Why do they need to put so much more makeup than would be needed to feel real today ? To impress us ? Fake ! They want us to believe it so much and too much that it becomes very unreal and highly unrealistic. I don't understand. How can people find it believable ? I can't understand. And some people say the Friday the 13th movies are unrealistic ! (ok maybe part 5 or something but) I would like to see Jason show up and gut those fake inbred...

Summary: A must see for slasher fans
Review: It's been a while since a good slasher has been released. Most (popular) slashers released between 1995 and now all follow Scream's "who done it?" genre, which isn't as bad as it is overdone. Wrong Turn goes back to the traditional late 70s through 80s slasher, where a group of young people are stuck in a forest being picked off one by one by a maniac -- or in this case, a group of maniacs -- and are trying to make it out alive. However, instead of the killer(s) being masked or faceless until the end, they're in the form of back woods West Virginians whose family line has gone through generations of inbreeding which gives the audience a few cheap laughs. The killing scenes have everything you'd want in a horror film and they're not just predictable knife-in-the-stomach scenes. I gave this movie five stars because I seriously can't find anything wrong with it to give it a lower rating. If you liked The Hills Have Eyes, you're guaranteed to love this.

Summary: The Rednecks Strike Again!
Review: The so called 'Rednecks' must either be very good sports, or don't go to movies much, or both! If Hollywood is to be believed, over and over..and over again, they are the last people on earth you want to invite over for dinner or the very least avoid at all costs being stranded in their backyard. Mostly they are portrayed as not very smart, with a dislike to anyone whose warts are not visible, have a dentistry phobia, and who take the phrase' family ties' too closely to heart.
But perhaps the film that should have made any decent 'Redneck' run to his local PR firm fast was of course John Boorman's Deliverance. Their world was painted as beautiful but harsh and dangerous, and in a way as alien as any rock on Mars to the clean, educated, smart, rich and successful folks from the East or West, who just happen either to be lost or enjoying a holiday without the hassle of wanting anyone around.
Many films have followed suit, and it became a sort of good material for any producer who wishes to add a bit of horror and suspense to his/her movie, from the crazy creoles in Southern Comfort, the loopy family with a taste for 'meat' in Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the nasty kidnappers in Breakdown, the psycho trucker in JoyRide to the newest of the lot, Wrong Turn.
Four young and beautiful people take, er..quite predictably a wrong turn, and end up lost in the woods at the mercy of three crazed mutated psychos (due to generations of inbreeding so we are to believe).
The film itself is not bad, in a sort of ' bland and not adding anything to its genre' way. There is suspense and gore for the enthusiasts ,and the ubiquitous final scene that has been milked to excess in every horror movie post Carrie, the resurrection of the monster/killer for one final assault!!
What works for the film is its length, and at 80 minutes it finishes just at a time when your fingers itch for the fast forward.
The acting was mixed though: Buffy's Eliza Dushku and Six Feet Under's Jeremy Sisto do a decent job, while the lovely Emmaneulle Chriqui 's distress and tears are as convincing as those of a TV Evangelist.
My three stars though are for the WAY OVER THE TOP the make up people made the three psychos to look like.I mean generations of inbreeding will have one greeting his hand every morning, but these guys's ancestors seemed to have bred with moles! They really look like extras fresh from the Lord of the Rings!!
Anyway,I thought it would be nice to watch a movie one day about a group of 'Rednecks' being stranded in some big city and chased block after block by some insurance salesmen!!This will make a fresh twist, but I guess not good movie material..
So Wrong Turn is an average horror film that I am sure will not disappoint many, but remains in my opinion, one that you can only watch once if you have nothing better to do, and certainly not 'movie library' material.

Summary: Deliverance Meets Cabin Fever
Review: I would hate to hail from Kentucky becuase the hillbillies really get a raw deal in movies of this ilk. In this one, continued inbreeding has created some of the creepiest human beings this side of "Night of the Living Dead." As can be expected, young white kids, screwing around as usual, get their butts in a proverbial sling following a car accident. They go "looking for help" and on the way, they are stalked by these hillbillies who are in sore need of major orthodontic care! What makes this movie so unique is the suspense; you don't actually see a killer hillbilly until a half an hour into the movie. You know he's there, but you can't quite determine when he'll show. These kids venture into the situation and the suspense builds as they are chased around unfamiliar terrain by these creeps, who spare no expense with their axes, barbed wire and general brutality. Fellas: this movie is perfect if you want to scare the hell out of your date. But if you're young at heart, I suggest you watch this flick during the daylight hours. It's scary and filled with scenes that will turn your stomach.
