Summary: apples to apples this is a very good horror flick
Review: when I evaluate a horror flick, its not about "did this film knock my socks off?" i am a horror story junkie, so i want to know, was it executed well, did they provide a good twist to the story (lets face it, most horror scenarios have been done 20 times over, do you think its a coincidence most of the more succesful horror flicks in the past 10 years have been centered around the psyche? its because its the only territory that has not been fully explored, i mean how many ways can killers kill stupid people who wander into the woods? not too many....but its still kind of spooky if the directors do it right) ...

and thats where I want to evaluate this film...

yes, this story line has been done over and over again, i however, believe it has not been done enough, i personally can think of many more scenarios of people getting killed in the woods that i'd like to see played out....

in this movie we get a pretty typically stupid plot, some dumb teenagers get stranded in the woods and split up, and people start dying, the first ones to go as usual are the selfish ones...next are the weak ones you kind of feel sorry for...notice the typical formula???? meanwhile, the other teens come upon a house..no ones home...and so what do they do???..they go in!!!! yup, just like every other crazy horror flick, what happens next, can you guess??? you know how these stories go...

so here's the review....i really enjoyed this movie, i was not expecting too much when i saw it, i just had nothing better to do that day...and after having saw the commercial i doubted this director had much more to offer in the area of teens getting killed by inbred weirdos in the woods...but they did
i found several moments in the movie suspenseful (even though i knew what was going to happen)....although the scenarios have been done before i feel they were executed with a degree of sincerity and beleivability....

very pleasantly surprised, if you can get past having to compare this movie to movies that are not in its class, you'll have a good time

Summary: Simple minded mainstream horror trash, only in a good way
Review: It seems to me that mainstream cinema has been putting a bit more effort into horror films ever since Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses hit. The recent re-make of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and films like 28 Days Later and Final Destination 2 have disregarded most of modern day horror film's baggage and are just going for pure scares, shocks, and a healthy amount of gore. Now that can be a plus or a disappointment for many, but lately there have been some solid horror films coming out of the mainstream. Wrong Turn is one of these films; starring the ever sexy Eliza Dushku along with Desmond Harrington as two people who, along with a few friends, find themselves being stalked and eventually picked off by a group of backwoods inbred cannibals after wrecking their cars. There's really not much to the film storywise, but director Rob Schmidt goes for the blood and gore that nicely decorate the film. The inbred cannibal clan are given grotesque ugliness by creature effects extraordinaire Stan Winston (who's done everything from the Termiantor films to Jurassic Park to Predator, he also helped produce the film), and the film has it's own merits as a purposely trashy thriller. All in all, older horror fans who grew up on films like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Hills Have Eyes, and Last House on the Left should consider giving Wrong Turn a look.

Summary: 'Wrong Turn' was a right decision
Review: Short and simple.... Wrong Turn was better than I expected. Better then the teen slashers (scream, I know what you did last summer, urban legend, etc.) it's actually good. 'Wrong Turn' was a right decision.

This movie has good acting especially the BEAUTIFUL Eliza Dushku. A movie where there are no cheesy lines like "So who's next?" At least this movie has emotions and actually cares for their friends. The plot may not seem so original but it's a little different then you may think. Another thing is that this movie keeps it simple and not confusing.

Since the producer is from "I know what you did last summer" and "Resident Evil" I had low hopes for this movie as the other 2 I mentioned had failed to be good. But I decided to have an open mind and just have fun. I did. The only thing I didn't like about this movie was this one particular scene where the imbreds bring back the dead friend to the cabin and you see her all cut up on the table. A reason this movie got 4 stars.

Overall everything was great. Not a bad movie but personally not great either. Could've been great great but for that one scene that ruined it for me.

Summary: More of an adventure film than horror but fun just the same!
Review: WRONG TURN doesn't desire to be much more than frightful, fun entertainment. As long as you take the film at face value you should have a good time. The film starts off with six teens stranded in the middle of the mountains of West Virginia but the number of teen's decreases quickly within the first fifteen minutes or so, with the most annoying two getting snubbed out first.

What's unusual about WRONG TURN is that two of the characters, the one's played by Desmond Harrington (GHOST SHIP) and the beautiful Eliza Dushku (SOUL SURVIVORS), are not your usual helpless horror movie victims. Harrington's character, is instead, more like an action star of the 80's. He says little but isn't afraid of much and is always willing to make a stand. I really liked that. Nobody runs forever do they? Dushku's character is much the same. Sure, she gets scared but she isn't just walking around in the woods waiting to be rescued.

While the film has few surprises or scares for people familiar with the genre, the movie works due to the its brave characters and its quick pace. Once the action starts director Rob Schmidt and HALLOWEEN 4 scribe Alan B. McElroy never slow it down. The biggest problem with the film is that it fails to build on its own mythology. The opening credit sequence give us horrific pictures of human deformity and stories of people gone missing but not once in the film is the notoriety of the area ever mentioned. However, at a brisk eighty minutes or so, one can't find much to complain about with WRONG TURN. It knows what it is and never makes any aspirations to be anything greater than a homage to the horror films of the 70's. I do disagree with mastermind-make up great Stan Winston though who said something along the lines of it being one of the scariest movies he'd ever seen or one of the scariest scripts he'd ever read or something like that because while WRONG TURN may be fun, the scares are minimal.

Summary: That Ain't WVA!
Review: Sorry folks, but anyone from the northeast can easily tell that this film was not shot anywhere near WVA! Come on; the shots of the vast wilderness are darn near flat! Trust me kids, WVA ain't flat! Its a shame really since WVA has some of the best mountain scenery in the world. Oh well, I guess they were able to save a few bucks by shooting this stinker in Canada.

Review: great movie right here. You look at all the teeny trash they put out and then you find this movie. A great movie with homage to Texas Chainsaw Massacre about a group of people running from canabalistic forest dwellers. A scary movie with great FX from Savini. Alot of jump from but not to much shock. What i mean by shock is no gore. There was one scene of gore when the dwellers come back to there shack and..... ull find out i dont wanna ruin it for you. Great sound on your Dvd Player. The dvd special features arent great but there ok. Cool 1970's feel with zoom in camera shots.

Summary: Really good.......
Review: This is definately a teen horror flick with the usual girly girls and tough girls kinda thing. Despite that, it's an amazing movie. There are three cannibals loose in the woods where three girls and two guys are to go camping. A guy who is terribly late for a meeting takes a supposed short cut and crashes into a van, which belongs to the three girls and guys. They all end up with flat tires from barbed wire that has mysteriously found it's way onto the road. Four of them start walking down the road leaving one couple from the van alone.....................

Summary: Camp Deliverance
Review: I rented the DVD and had watched it on a night when a storm was a brewing outside. Scared me silly, especially the part where they (victims to be) are hiding inside the inbreds home. I liked this movie. I just thought that it would of been nice if Jeremy Sisto character(he brought a little comic relief) would of survived a little longer. I didn't care with the way he had gotten killed either. He was brave enough to get the inbreds attention away from the other dude that the filmaker could of let his character go down fighting with at least one of the inbreds. Eliza Dushku is always a treat to watch in any movie or series she has been in---look for her new series coming to t.v. soon. I think it is called tru calling. The length of running time of the movie is short, but all in all a very good horror genre movie. I rate it as 4 out of 5 pig squeals.

Summary: Pleasantly surprised
Review: I have to admit, my expectations were pretty low when I rented this one. At the most, I was hoping for some cool splatter and a few nasty-looking villains. But what I discovered was a pretty creative and well-crafted horror flick. Plenty of suspense, creepy bad guys, and two protagonists that I actually didn't hate. Sure it was predictable, but who cares? The ride was loads of fun, and much better than 90% of the crap that's been released in the horror genre lately.

Summary: The studio PAID to make it this bad?
Review: I'm a solid Eliza Dushku fan, and I'm grateful she's such an attractive and skilled actress, because movies this bad have destroyed bigger careers and blackened better names than hers. The plot is as predictable as a sunrise, the gore is ugly and most of it unnecessary to the plot, and the acting, with the exception of Ms. Dushku, could be done by a high school drama club without damaging the story's believability one bit.

I regret losing the time I spent watching this piece of trash.
