Rating: Summary: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Review: This is definately one of my favorite horror films. When I saw the photos online I knew it would be good... but i didn't know it would be this good! Although i may get bashed for saying this but- its scarier, more explained, gorier, better acting/characters, and somewhat funnier that the original. Leatherface is also alot cooler looking. The beginning is excellent- the black and white police footage- there is not a boring moment in the film. It literally made my palms sweat- and i watch horror all the time. Every death in the film is full of eye candy. Overall it stands alone- not as a slasher movie but as a DARK film. If you obcessed with the original this may be somewhat of a rude awakening but a good one- to show you how lame the original was! There also will be a 2-disc set coming out with a new cover and TONS of extra stuff- im gonna get that one. I definately recomend this film to any movie watcher!
Rating: Summary: Great Movie...hoping for a Great DVD Review: The movie itself is very good and very scary and I hope the DVD is really good too, complete with amazing extras and lots of them! Too bad it has to come out so late! March 30, almost April...oh well hopefully it is worth the long wait and will be a great DVD that the fans of this movie are hoping for. Hopefully ( but doubtfully ) this movie will become a classic, like its origional. It has the quality to ( beside the fact that it is already a re-make of a classic ) and it has great potential. Hopefully no one will get the crazy ideas to re-make the sequals. Unless they come up with ALL NEW material that could live up to the quality of this one and even to the quality of the origional.
Rating: Summary: Not Remake, Reimagining Review: by now everyone knows that there was a 1974 film of the same title made by Tobe Hooper that eventually become a horror classic and now about 30 years later producer Tobe Hooper decided to do a remake. Now I'll admit I was both very excited(especially after viewing the trailer) and a little nervous, I mean what if they didn't do it right, what if it sucks? Well I went into the movie theater the day after it came out on a Saturday night with a friend, and we were pretty shaken by the film, I mean it did what it set out to do, scare and shock you. I decided after seeing this film that it was not a remake, like say the new Psycho(1999), this was a reimagining of the original. This film had its own style and the characters were different then those of the 1974 version, especially Leatherface, who, along with his much larger chainsaw, made this movie frightening. Now I know this movie was on the grusome side but with the title of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, what were some people thinking, and I think most who reviewed this movie with low markings didn't even see the original, because the original was even more disturbing and more real. So in closing the new film boosts solid acting, great suspense and tension, gore for those who care about that, good villians and a great look thanks to first time director Marc Nispel. So I recommend seeing the original first, so you know what you're getting into, for everyone else enjoy the film!
Rating: Summary: please read this review-don't bother with the rest Review: i liked the original, but it was kinda dissappointing. after seeing this, i had a reaction unlike any other. please do some reading on this film. the original isn't even really a massacre-only one guy gets killed with a chainsaw. this one is totally perfect and is what you want to think about when you think about the title. it is a classic. watch it; you have nothing to loose. i guarrantee, coming from an owner of over 150 horror movies, this one is worth it. out of all the horror movies i have, this is probably one of or maybe THE best horror movie ever. it's totally different from the original-almost a sequel, but better. after viewing it, it makes you think and takes a while to shake off the great impact of that final, spine tingling frame. just watch this movie and find out for yourself. there are some L O S E R S out there who aren't openminded when it comes to a classic, but please, beleive me when i say that this is worth it. if you don't like it, no problem, but the majority of people will appreciate the powerfully dirty and unsettling state of mind you get when you watch this. a guarranteed scare. don't bother to read the other reviews, just watch it for yourself and use your own judgement. it's worth a shot. it is sad to see somebody not see this classic just because some obsessed nerd thinks you can't beat the original.
Rating: Summary: Being scared at 10 years old is not the same! Review: It's really interesting to read a lot of reviews and see how different they are. Most Give it either 1 star or 5 stars, which shows that this movie has great effect. I would think that most of the bad reviews come from those who first have seen the movie probably when they were about 10 years old. No wonder then that it scared the sh... out of them. Since then and because of that, they have decided to make a shrine for it, disclaiming any new version of it for the simple reason of cherishing the original. This remake is a very fine work. After hurrying up to buy and watch the original I could clearly see how this remake took an awfely dry story and characters (and a whole bunch of surealism) and made it so far more juicy and deep, it was creepy. The old version was made at a certain time in movie history and was a first, but much has been studied since. (Sorry for spelling mistakes, I am a foreigner)
Rating: Summary: All you people crack me right the hell up! Review: I'm sorry but all you hardcore movie critics should really rethink what you are writing about this movie. I feel this movie was possibly the best horror flick. The Freddy vs Jason sucked all the new horror of being chased my a physco truck driver, what kinda crap is that?. Jeepers Creepers SUCKS i'm sorry that movie blew. the best part was when I feel asleep while they ran over the demon for 45 mins strait. I Saw the first one yes it was a good movie but you have to get with the times. I will agree there would be no point in remaking a hardcore classic like Physco but hey sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I saw Texas Chainsaw 4 times and I was scared each time , even though I knew what would happen I still jumped the ending, Oh I couldn't have done it better my self perfect. The real life footage adds each touch. Oh and to you who said the cop was horrible do me a favor and go buy FULL METAL JACKET then you tell me whats up. Hey everyone here has there on opinion but I feel you people who said that your friends said it sucked never saw it and if you did see it you don't know what good horror is so please do me this favor and get off this movies' ass please! Thank you "Bring it Bring it, you are so dead you don't even know it"
Rating: Summary: A Different Approach with a Horror Classic! Review: There are definitely some of those who absolutely hated this movie or thought it was one of the best movies they have seen in years. I fall in the category with those who loved the film. I appreciate it for its approach and its overwhelming success. Most horror movies do not make good remakes, but this one serves as an exception. The cinematic elements found in this film and the wonderful, new (yet good) actors portrayed in this film keeps you begging for more. This movie was good in a sense that it kept you tense the whole time. Sometimes this is good, and when you are up for a good scare, definitely turn to this film. The acting and the setting of this film creates its suspense in such a way that you are drawn into the film and actually feel for the characters as they are faced with death and challenges that they must overcome. This movie was well worth the money in the theatres and when 2004 roles around, I'm definitely picking up the DVD the day it comes out. I recommend this movie to ALL those in need of a good scare, and an escape from reality.
Rating: Summary: Texas Chainsaw Massacre...horror junkie's review Review: This movie was hilarious! So unscary (except for the chase scenes) the 90 minutes had me confused for a bit...this took forever to get off the ground...oh...wait a minute...I'm talking about the ORIGINAL Texas Chainsaw Massacre! My bad...lol. Anyways... I saw the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre before I had the opportunity to see the original. I admit...the original was quite scary but the whole cannabilism angle was a little farfetched and so was the whole dinner scene with the (should have been dead) Grandpa acting as an old, murderous vampire (He suddenly starts to wake from his stupor after tasting the main character's blood.) Also at the dinner scene there's a part where the main character wakes up and starts screaming and Leatherface and his family start screaming. I started shouting at the screen and got engrossed as Leatherface chased her through the woods and also at the end after she burst through the window...hey...I'm supposed to be reviewing the remake. The remake was a step above the original with me squirming all in my seat. A girl I brought with me started bawling and put her head in my shoulder and her nails were digging into my arm during the movie. The remake was a lot scarier, a more ingenious and maniacal Leatherface. Of course, this movie has parts that could have been left out. For example, the attempted humanizing of Leatherface by giving him a disease and a motive for his rampage, there was also the drugging of the main character. But overall...this movie has to be one of the scariest movies I have ever seen. Very few movies can scare me and keep me on the edge of my seat. (Lost Souls, Texas Chainsaw Massacre , HalloweeN, Nightmare on Elm Street, Hall8weeN: ResurrectioN, Freddy Vs. Jason, Wes Craven's New Nightmare, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre , ScreaM, and Wrong Turn are the top 10 of my favorite horror movies that scared me to death and warrant many viewings.) Overall...the remake is scarier, darker, and has a lot more cinematic value than that of Tobe Hooper's version
Rating: Summary: a honest review on Texas Chainsaw Massacre Review: I don't know what you people are smoking who say that this is a bad movie...This movie was probaly one of the most frightning movies ever made. Now i'm sure the few of you who call yourselves "Tobe Hooper fans"..or "true horror buffs", can just stick it where the sun don't shine. I've been a horror fan for five years...and through that five years i have seen (more then ten times) every horror film ever made (up to date)...so i would think that i would know a good horror movie when i see one.Now sure, i agree with you on the hole thing about "it's better to keep the violence off camera...that's totally true..to a certin extent...(halloween is a good example of a film that didn't need to show violence to be scary) but with somthing like this (and might i add this is not that gory of a movie anyway's)..they kind of needed to show alittle bit of what was happing...because that just made it more the disturbing...Now you don't have to take my advice..(everyone is intitled to there own opinion).... But just see it...trust me it's worth it. and p.s - the real leatherface (aka;Ed Gein) wasn't a cannibal...so this movie was pretty acurate to that extent i would say.
Rating: Summary: Dirt Review: one of the most pointless movies ever made. A friend of mine said it was torture sitting through it, that it wasnt even worth seeing how bad it was, he said, just forget about it. That it did not have one redeeming moment. Silly me had to see it for myself. Boy was he right. That sheriff! what a terrible character! Its bad. Really bad. And not bad good, just bad bad bad. I didnt watch the last half hour it was that bad. It was torturous sitting there and digesting that junk. And anyone who says this movie has any merit. Rasberries to you . BAD! Also, not only is the film terrible, but the originals lovely score is slushed aside for some bland drivel. The scariest part about the whole experience was the crazy kids in the theater who thought it was anything other than DIRT. Those kids are CRAZY. UGH. OMG OMG! what about trying to give Leatherface a personality!?!??!?!?! AHAHAHA . BAD MOVIE.
