Summary: By far, the worst movie I have ever seen.
Review: First things first, this movie is downright horrible. And, I am not saying this because they ruined the original. I am not a big fan of the original as it is, but I will say this, the original was much more creepy, odd, and just plain better then this peice of garbage. Forget the fact that this movie is nothing like the original, this movie is an awful movie, not because it is trying to live up to something that came before it, but just because it is flat out horrible. The original was and is not a great movie, but it had something that this filth doesn't have. It had a style and creepy atmosphere, as well as violence to it that was, for it's time at least, very shocking. Due to it's low budget, the violence wasn't extrememly bloody, but it was sudden, quick, and left the violence to the imagination. That's what made the movie creepy. This movie on the otherhand, basically reflects everything that is wrong with American culture today. The movie is basically like this: "Whoa man, we were buying some pot, and going to the Skinnard Concert, 'cause Skinnard has nothing to do with anything in this movie, but we figured we'd throw it in there anyway, so people can say 'Hey, I like Skinnard too', and then we picked up this girl, who shot herself with a gun that she was hiding in between her legs, which, also, has nothing to do with anything too, and it was only in here because it makes people say 'Ewww...', and then a guy who looks like the lead singer of the band Slipknot chased us around and cut off our body parts, as we showed no respect for human life at all." Throw in some bad acting, horrible dialog,dreadful special effects, and a sheriff who actually goes and feels up the dead girl who pulled the gun out of her nether-region (which is presented as being funny, which is NOT funny at all, but sick, sexist, and reason enough to despise this abomination) and you basically have this movie. It's movies like this that make you say to yourself," It's no wonder half the world hates us."

Summary: A chainsaw of scary events
Review: This movie rocked. It was scary, very well directed, with amazing cinematography and a very creepy atmosphere. Great acting, specially by Jessica Biel and Mike Vogel. I got scared, I got sad, I cared about these kids, I wanted them to make it. Leatherface was really creepy and realistic. I loved almost everything about this movie. It's as good as the original IMO. TCM ROCKS!

Summary: Stylish Horror as it should be - But why "R" and not "NC-17"
Review: >>> First I'd like to state my opinion to the American "R Rating" <<<

I haven't seen the original movie yet so this was actually all new for me. I saw this movie a couple of weeks ago and I was pretty shocked when I saw it which psychological terror it sets out on the audience. I mean seven people left the theather and one even threw up in her jumbo popcorn bucket...sitting like two seats next to me and the smell was excellent.
I was wondering why the Americans allow their children to watch something horrible like this film.

--> Spoiler Beginning <--

-You actually see a woman pull a gun out of her main sexual organ

--> Spoiler End <--

-The protagonists are tortured in a cruel and sadistic way

-The only reason of this movie iss to terrify the audience...

>>> Now to the main review <<<

This was one of the most shocking movies I have ever seen in my life...and one of the best. The acting was simply suberb and I always ask myself "Why don't horror movies go to the Oscars :("
If you think this is your average horror movie, you're wrong. From the first Minute on it's clear that this is going to be one good, scary and shocking film. The violence isn't all to strong but the psychological terror mixed with the violence is. There aren't any teen horror elements in it from the comedic view. It is one of the most disturbing, brilliant horror movies in the last years. IMO you should be able to see people getting tortured in a cruel way and be able to see a movie loaded with shocks and be able to cope with an awesome high tempo of disturbing images and be prepared for a REALLY scary movie. (Not scary as in "Thirteen Ghosts"-Scary!) Go see it if you can handle all the things named above :)
And remember DON'T GO WITH YOUR CHILDREN ;D

Summary: KILLER!!!
Review: To all the purists who cry that this movie shouldn't have been made. Catch up, already. It's 2004 - time for another look at a (supposed) "classic". If you haven't figured it out, I was never much of a fan of the original, unless I needed a good laugh. What was scary about it? By the end of the original, I was mad Leatherface didn't kill ALL the dorky teens. About the only redeeming quality it had was being different for it's time, and times DO change (YEAH!!)

Better acting, better story (which is almost enough to take it out of the remake catagory) and the first movie to make me jump since I was 10. After leaving the theater, THIS one had me and my girlfriend talking for days (but then she's always been a bigger fan or the original than I'll ever be....she still thinks this one kicked butt)

It's really almost unfair to compare it to the original, it's NOT the same movie. It's BETTER.

Review: As an avid Texas Chainsaw Massacre fan, and a horror film fanatic, I give the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre 5 stars. The original was a cult movie - intended to make people wonder what is really out there. The first one isn't scary, it's a good movie to watch. I've watched every horror movie I can get my hands on. How can you say this one isn't scary at all? The first one is good, if you are into the whole cult-fiction thing, but the second one is just scary! I loved it!
You have to think of a few things - I'm sure they would of made the 1973 version more scary, if they had the technology we do today. With the new version, they had so many things that they could use to make more detail, even things like music in the new one get into your mind and make you shiver. You have to remember 1973 - ehh, didn't have to much then. Think of how much better they could make the Exorcist today. It's an AMAZING old movie, but a new one could be 10x better. Anyone who can sit there and bash this movie deffinatly can't say they're a scary movie fan, just someone out there trying to look smart.

Summary: Great horror film, but falls short of the original.
Review: This movie was good for what it was. It had some truly scary moments that make you jump, however the was far inferior to the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The biggest killer of this film was the fact that they had money when they went out to shoot it, and that really hurt the film. The oringinal TCM was shot on a very limited budget, which obiviously showed itself in the film. However, this made the original ten times scarier, because it made it seem like you weren't just watching a movie, but rather a home video of something that really happened. While I will buy this film, it will never hold the same palce in my heart as the original TCM!!!!!!!!!!1

Summary: Remakes don't work!
Review: Where to start? As long as Hollywood is remaking classic films. Why don't they re do Ben Hur and the Wizard of OZ? What makes movies classic and memorable is originality. Tobe Hooper's original film was no big budget film, but it stood out from everything else in that period. The remake veers from the original story and cinematic gore is used to replace it. For those who belived that it was based on a true story as mentioned in the beginning of the film "that's the whole point!" it plays into the psychological aspect. They want you believing that someone's tall tale can be that effective. It worked......view the original before you see this and then compare the two.

Summary: UNBELIEVABLE, UNEXPECTED AND UNNERVING
Review: Many people have tried to denegrate this remake due to its apparent gory nature, so all i can do is give my honest account and try to convey this unexpected brilliant horror movie.
What seperates this movie from the latest influx of modern day horror movies,is its psychology, which can be put down to its magnificent actors in particular Jessica Biel. Its realistic nature is created through excellent camera work portraying an even more (if possible) harrowing atmosphere and setting than the original.
I wont retell the plot as most of you already know it, all i can say is it is a movie that deserves to be judged individually, not condemened due to negative reviews, as everyone has their own opinions.
It is a movie that really got inside my head and stayed there for some time, and reviewers who are disgusted with the way the film states "based on a true story"may have a point, however not to a large extent, as the movie is very loosely based on the serial killer Ed Gein, while most is fiction, you can't say this is a shameless marketing ploy as other well known and cult hits (silence of the lanbs, psycho)have also used Gein as a model for their horrific villains. The remake is based as much on Gein as its earlier cult hit.
I would like to agree with a view expressed above about people who think a modern day horror film can't be a well made or feasible film. I have been patiently waiting through many a dud horror flick, but have not condemned the genre nor the modern day film world.
The Texas remake deserves plaudits as a more than credible horror film that will have many audience members jumping out of their seats.
A truly acceptional film with something differnt and much more edgy to your average slasher movie.

Summary: A Good Horror Film. Bad Texas Chainsaw Massacre Film.
Review: I saw this film apon the day of its release and went it with low expectations and came out with my expectations fulfilled. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) is a classic film, not a classic horror film but a classic film. I don't understand why it was "remade". I really don't see why hollywood feels that all these classic movies should be remade, and ecspecially horror considering hollywood hates horror movies even though they bring in alot of cash in the box office. But anyways to the point. I saw this movie and thought to myself perhaps if I don't think of this as a "remake" and more like the texas chainsaw massacre 5 I'll like it. That didn't work. Souly because it doesn't listen to the rules of the film set up in the prequels. I don't want to give anything away but they really do succeed at tarnishing the texas chainsaw's name. Even in an intereview Jessica Biel said this was "better than the original in terms of the characters in the film develope more and so you care more for them." No. Thats completly untrue, I wanted Jessica to die through the whole film, I was rooting for leatherface all the way even though I didn't really like the new actor's protrayl of him in the least. He was more like an animal than a disgruntled mentally challenged maniac. And thats a dumb idea all together. So what do I like about this why did I call it a good horror film. Well because by today's standards it really is. It does the horror fans a favor and put unrelentless suspense on them. I mean watching this with the weak audiences of today that haven't even seen the original is a joy all in its own. They scream and cry throughout the whole entire film! Also finally there is some nice violence in a film which you know the MPAA will just not allow anymore...although I will say I really did like the original's usage of violence alot better...letting you use your imagination to know whats going on...But whatever. This is a good horror film. I'll give it that. But a truly awful remake of an amazing film. The characters are annoying and the actors are rather poor. The only joy of the film is the deputy and his screentime is limited. So I suggest you do not buy this dvd, rent it and leave it at that. The only thing worth the purchase is the awesome trailer which makes the movie look great! Good job for making this crap look good!
