Summary: Not as bad as the critics said, not as good as the original!
Review: My reaction to 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' being remade and produced by Michael Bay? "NO!" I waited for the DVD edition to come out, keeping far away from theaters. I really expected this film to flop with honors, but it suprised me in many ways. First off, the film is nowhere near as good as the classic original. But I watched it thinking along the lines of the film being the fifth sequel in the series. It actually made me enjoy the film tons more. But just the thought of the film being a remake made me sick at my stomach. Why? Actually two reasons. One: Michael Bay produced it. (...) Reason two: Jessica Biel. Sure, she is a fine looking woman, but still yet, she's a terrible actress, and this move is case-in-point. She annoyed me through out the TCM film, (not to mention numerous others). The tight top and pants is the only thing shes got going for her in this film.

PROS:
*Quick storyline
*Tons of gore
*More humor

CONS:
*Michael Bay
*Jessica Biel
*Terrible Acting (Kid, Sheriff, Biel)
*Less mind-altering

The film is no original TCM, but it is indeed a decent film to watch on a boring Sunday night.

Summary: The Texas Chainsaw Remake Disaster
Review: Perhaps the most abysmal remake of the modern era. No, I take that back. Rollerball was the worst remake ever. This is the second worst remake in film history.

While the first was gritty and sureal, this film was over acted and funny when it was supposed to be serious. I experienced total disengagement and actually thought, while watching the film, I hope Jessica Biel's character gets her head sawed off so I won't have to suffer through her acting.

Summary: WoAh NoW
Review: First of all, I'm a HUGE Texas Chainsaw Massacre fan! I have seen the orginal one and the next generation (which i really liked)..and i thought this one looked good. I was very pleased with the outcome! Jessica Biel did an absolutely amazing job! there were parts in this movie that horrified and disgusted me, but hey, isn't that exactly WHAT a horror movie is? i cantell you, i never get scared when i see scary movies, but i screamed and jumped a million times in this one! If you are skeptical about remakes, please push those feelings aside, and SEE this movie!

Summary: The Scariest Film in Years
Review: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is possible one of the scariest movies ever to hit modern day theaters! Its right mix of gore/ horror, and teens brings a fresh new meaning to the horror genre. It is my favorite horror film tied with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre(1974) and I hope it will be one of yours. When I went to see this at the movies I jumped about 20 times and was on the edge of my seat through the whole film. I never get scared in movies but when I was in my car I was having trouble putting my seatbelt on because I was shaking so badly!!! If you don't like scary movies your really gonna hate this one! I have my preorder already in and I can't wait!!!

Summary: Very good, despite the fact that this is a remake....
Review: Very good, very well thought out and written, very well acted, well filmed, well scored, ect...you cant honestly say that this is a bad movie. It's almost impossible. Its not boring, the acting isnt 100% [bad], the plot is thick and fleshed, there is a fair amount of chills and frights (not even the hardest dude can say that he wasnt holding his face in his hands at some parts during this movie) Big deal that it is a remake of a classic. It is a good remake! Better than some of the more recent remakes! BUt hey, whatever blows [you up] i guess, if you dont like this, have a better reason than "its a remake" and try something more.....great movie, great DVD, whats to complain about????

Summary: A true Classic (no mater what you say)
Review: To start right off, let me just ask..."what's wrong with all of you? Don't you you know a good horror movie when you see one?1"
This is a great horror epic. It's got suspence/shocks/gore/good acting (which the original lack...big time)...now i'm not one of those teenie bopers post-scream people...no diss on any of you who are... I know a good horror movie when i see one. Why?...because i've seen them all... from the 30's through the 90's and now. You name it, i have more then likely seen it.
So take my word for it...this is a good movie.

Summary: Chainsaw Massacre Nailed
Review: The movie was great. I miss the quite(not much music) violence of the first one, but do you remember the second half of that movie? It could have been directed by my kid brother. The remake was unbelievable in that it leaves enough empathy for the characters to make any horror junky actually say "No! Don't Kill him!". The hook scene so prevelant from the first, was drawn out and mis-interpreted. The horror from the first "hook" scene was that he threw her on a hook and might as well as flipped through the channels eating an apple while chainsawing her boyfriend. In this one, the scene should have been "Gone with the Hook", throw him on the hook, watch him reel in pain, and switch to the next scene. Why I gave it 4 and not 5 stars. The scene where Morgan is in the back of the police car will have me licking my lips for ages. I went with this catholic girl, who cried and pleaded with me to leave! She was Hyperventilating and clawing at my arms. Although it was very distracting, I began my 2 hour grin that illustrated... !!!Texas Chainsaw Massacre has done it again!!!

Summary: A very good remake if you didn't see the original !
Review: I was so impatient to get this on my screen as I missed the theatre screening.I knew the original, the sickest movie of this period. It was shot with kind of NO MONEY budget and I particularly think It's because there was no money that this film became a classic or cult movie. No money means they had to make it with less and it appears that the photography was looking so bad that you could have thought it was a documentary or some kind of amateurish stuff. The actors were so crazy and It was looking a hell of a Texas. Anyway it's not the case anymore. There is a lot money involved in this remake. They changed a bit in the mad family thing, I don't know why. Anyway it's still a remake for me even I miss the Leatherface brother, even if I miss the senile decomposed grand pa, even I miss the scenes connected to the cannibalism aspect and this Texas Hell of a desert for those who know what I am talking about.
In this new TCM, I particularly love the photography. The DOP is the same as in the original. I like his job. It's real art in my opinion. The actors are not bad at all either. I will even say they are pretty good. The only thing that doesn't work for me, is this guy hanged to a hook and who lost his leg. I was wondering if he was immortal or something. Also this baby thing, dunno the reason...The end means I dunno ? We will certainly know in the sequel ! Last but not least, I don't really think I had stopped my van when I just avoid this girl on the road and she 's finally looks fine. There was no reason for them to stop.

Summary: The horror genre has risen from the dead!
Review: When I saw previews of this remake & of course heard all the hype about it, I inevitably figured that it was just another petty teen slashfest packed with unrealistic scenes & actors who can barely spell the word "act" let alone actually carry out said deed. This is why I dismissed paying a visit to my local cinema last Halloween to see this. And with all the recent pathetic excuses for horror movies flying around, who can blame me.

But, since I have always been the hugest horror movie buff & am myself a screenwriter of the same genre, I decided to rent this one recently & I simply cannot express how unprepared I was for this movie! It was in short...a mind-blowing experience! From start to finish, there wasn't a flaw in sight & this coming from probably the most critical person ever to grace the planet. It encompasses everything a horror movie was originally intended to be...it's disturbing, gory, tragic, terrifying, suspenseful, shocking, horrifying, unsettling & will no doubt linger in your head for some time after. Not only has this film succeeded psychologically but will no doubt make you flinch, jump, scream & will completely reel you in.

This is accomplished by a combination of superb acting, likeable characters & realistic circumstances. The cast, for one, does not consist of just any old collection of pretty boys or girls. These kids can seriously act! And there is enough character development apparent without taking too much emphasis from the main story. The characters aren't just your usual parade of mindless hormonal driven teens either. The film enables you to become familiar enough with them to care whether they live or die. Something, which 99% of teen slashers have failed to enforce. And as the film progresses you begin to step into the heroine's shoes whose series of narrow escapes are due to her cleverness & courage, not just sheer luck.

I don't see it entirely fair though to compare this to the original 1974 TCM. Although this is indeed a remake I think they should be viewed & judged as two separate entities. I myself consider this instalment to be far superior in that it is much classier & less trashy than its predecessor. Too much blood & gore can often lead to the gradual evaporation of fear & the film itself transforming into something utterly ridiculous & unbelievable. Which is why this version appeared to adopt a more serious angle & insight. It's also more appealing to the present generation who can more easily identify & relate to the new characters, and is also an upgrade in that the horror has been altered to fit present times. All in all, I would highly recommend this masterpiece to die hard horror fans & anybody who desires an escape from reality.
