Summary: a real great movie
Review: there are already a lot of reviews explaining on what the film is great fabulous, etc so i'm not gonna do that, i simply want to say that i think this movie is really a must, you've to see it if it's not already done, even if i've to say that as a french, the scene that takes place in Paris, just make me feel sad, you all americans don't seems to believe that we are not totally old fashionned, for an example the car shown in Paris is a Citroen 2 chevaux, car that is not build anymore since 1978 !!! that's all i was having to say, excuse my bad english and find a way to see this film, it's really a great movie !!!

Summary: A Superb Beginning
Review: One of the best opening sequences for any sci-fi thriller, a bunch of students getting on a plane for Paris. Then something horrible starts to happen--or does it? Is it happening, or is one of the students having a pre-vision of a calamity? Usually I hate "dream sequences" in movies that don't tell you you're looking at a dream and not reality, but this is the exception that proves the rule. (Every rule has a possible exception.) The dream-reality bit is just as justifiable here as it was in "The Usual Suspects." And so, we're off on what looks like a nonstop roller coaster ride.If only the rest of the movie could have kept pace with the opening! But it does a pretty good job. There are highs and there are lows; the lows are when the director and screenwriter ran out of ideas for the moment. The important thing is that an intelligence is working behind the scenes; the movie, given its premise, is coherent and satisfying. If we were allowed half-stars, I'd give this three-and-a-half. The DVD is very nicely produced. Bottom line: well worth seeing.

Summary: A fresh and entertaining approach to horror
Review: It is refreshing to see a film that innovates. The last film to do that in the horror genre was "Scream". "Final Destination" has introduced an inventive approach to the genre, giving it a supernatural killer rather than a lunatic slasher dressed up in some kind of costume. Using "Death" as the killer opens up myriad possibilities for the method of death and choice of victims. This film was excellent at presenting the supernatural stalker's manipulation of the physical world to find murder weapons in everyday objects. While the concept of Death taking people from earth is hardly new in films, the idea of Death as a malevolent attacker that has a plan that can be outwitted is a novelty. This film is the germination of an interesting direction, but does not bring the concept to maturation. It is unsophisticated in its storytelling and the characters lack subtlety and realism in their reactions to their situation. They are undifferentiated from their hollow horror counterparts in that regard, just fodder for the beast. Director James Wong, who has mostly TV credits on his resume, breaks into feature films with a vengeance. From the standpoint of the photography and visual effects, the film was excellent. His camera perspectives were creative and lent greater force to the suspense. His crafting of the scenes was less effective. The prescient clues to the next murder lacked nuance. There were no surprises except perhaps the last murder. The formula was always the same, Alex predicts a murder and then rushes frantically to prevent it with mixed results. As is often the case in this genre, the acting had a broad range from terrible to very good. Devon Sawa was excellent. He gave his character much more range and depth than we are used to seeing from horror heroes. He was the closest to having genuine human responses to the tragedies, at least in the beginning of the film. Ali Larter was good as Clear, but her character didn't have much range and she did little to expand the envelope. The same is true of Kerr Smith whose character had even less dimensionality. On the awful side, there were Daniel Robuck and Roger Guenveur Smith as the hapless FBI agents and Tony Todd as the completely implausible undertaker. This was an entertaining film and a terrific story concept. I rated it an 8/10. It is a must-see for horror fans, but still enjoyable for a broader audience. Few films of this genre have the potential to improve in the sequel. This may be one of them.

Summary: Very Compelling
Review: This is a film that should not be classified with all of those formulaic slasher flicks. This is one of, if not the smartest, horror movies to come along in a very long time. This film is set up brilliantly, with many death scenes flawlessly laid out. There are many points in this movie that you can not believe what has just happened. There are scenes that will make you look at everyday items in a different way. For example, a tile floor will be looked at with a little more skepticism from the fearful few that can believe that this will happen. This film is very well acted, and there is not a point that you get sick of all of the actors, as you do in other teenager horror films. You may start to hate a character, but this will only want you to watch to see what happens next, to see if his/her number will be the next one up. The DVD offers numerous interesting features, including a game that will tell you when you are expected to die, and one that will test your skills at the paranormal. The deleted scenes are of interest, but the alternate ending only makes you relieved that they left on the original, thrilling end shot.

Summary: tired of teenager slasher movies? here's a dvd for you.
Review: What sets this teenager slasher movie apart (and above) the others is the villain. After endless Jasons, Freddys, Michael Myers, Scream Ghosts, it's hard to imagine a creative new bad guy. Enter "Death". In the hands of lesser film-makers, we would have had to sit through a whole flick of a cloaked, dark figure a la, "I know What You Did Last Summer", but here we get to see, or experience, death as a natural force. Because you can't see the figure, and because it can be ubiquitous, it makes the "shock" killings all that more shocking. This is a suprisingly tight, well-made movie. It's perhaps no surprise that it's the brain child of X-Files alumni Wong and Morgan. While other reviews have balked at the mix of humor and gore, I think it plays really well. It doesn't fall into pastiche comedy-horror, but rather titilates the audience with a teasing sense of humor. While you can assure yourself that there's no Freddy or Jason under your bed and get a good night's sleep, this movie makes you realize death is on its way and there's no escape. How confrontational is that for a teenager slasher? Kudos to the film makers for something different and enjoyable. Also, the DVD provides the original ending and a documentary on the "test screening" process and why the ending got changed. One of the best DVD supplements I've seen.

Summary: Kind of dry, but it was OK...
Review: Okay...don't get me wrong, the movie was pretty good, but I wouldn't buy it. It was kind of dry - the best thing about the movie was the beginning and the whole plane crash "VISION" that Devon Sawa's character had. The acting was either too flat, or too dramatic.... One thing about this movie was they told you who was going to die before they actually did, so you weren't really surprised, & another ANNOYING thing was how these guys reacted towards there friends getting killed. Heads getting chopped off, a friend getting splattered into pieces by a bus, all happening in front of them and aside from a few gasps and shocked faces, the next scene its like they really didn't give a crap. Another was these really pathetic FBI agents that were following Devon's character around, and the fact that he REPEATEDLY kept trying to save his friends who were suppose to be next on the "list" to get killed all the while making himself look like he actually killed them when the FBI agents showed up. My suggestion is definitely RENT the movie first so you can see if you like it...if you do - Buy it! :) It was a fun movie to watch and had an interesting story line but after awhile it got really unrealistic and annoying!

Summary: Fantastic! Best horror movie of the year!
Review: This movie will leave you thinking twice about life! I saw it in theatres three times and it was great everytime! This movie is not like all the horror movies like Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer. Instead of a killer running around killing everyone with a knife, the killer is the in the wind. It's Death. The airplane crash was so vivid and real and the deaths were great! I highly reccomend this one!

Summary: Your Flight Destination: Creepy
Review: I am not in the habit of buying any movie on DVD that I have not seen first. So I was a bit skeptical when a friend said that this was a "must have" I am, however, a fan of the paranormal and the thriller in general. So I figured, if I can get it for a good price, what the heck!! The film itself is better than I expected. Its young cast is just about perfect in helping the viewer understand the ins and out of premonitions. Led by actor Devon Sawa and directed by James Wong, the movie is great and has just enough twists to keep you surprised. The screenplay by Wong and his writing partner Glenn Morgan (they wrote some of the best X-files episodes), and Jeff Reddick is very clever. The movie boasts some of the most unique and elaborate ways that a person can die in a movie that I have seen in a long time. As to the DVD itself, it is also very clever in both design and presentation. Highlights for me include The cast commentary, (very funny and insightful), and watching the alternate ending. In fact, I think that the alternate ending would have made it a stronger film. With a firm tip of the hat to the Outter Limits and The Twilight Zone, Final Destination the movie will shock you and the DVD will make you happy own a player

Summary: Final Destination Cheats Only The Viewers
Review: Final Destination goes nowhere but down. The acting is horrible, except for Ali Larter, although that doesn't save this movie from catastrophe. Like most teen-slasher movies, the plot is VERY predictable, although half the deaths in this movie are literally impossible.(Computer screens don't explode! Busses don't go fast enough while turning a corner, to kill someone! Neon signs can't turn sideways! The scene with the eletrical wire defied every law of Physics. You catch my drift...) Honestly, this movie is not worth seeing, and if you want to see a good scary movie, the Exorcist, Silence of the Lambs, and even the Blair Witch Project are more satisfying than this! Steer clear, watching this movie is worse than being subject to any of the deaths in this movie, 100 times.
