Rating: Summary: TOTAL ABOMINATION Review: Hold on to those ceredit cards. To put it bluntly, this movie bites. Over an hour and a half of typical teeny-bopper nonsense. Everyone associated with this "project from hell" should be tarred and feathered. First off the script is poorly written. Then the direction of the script is poorly executed. Oh, let's not forget the casting. The only thing this movie was missing was Freddie Prinze JR, Sarah Gellar, and the Backside Boys. My God what has the movie making industry come to. Shame on New Line who usually put out good filmaking.
Rating: Summary: original story, great effects, ending so-so Review: this movie has you on the edge of your seat just up until the end when it becomes drawn out like most flicks. but i can safely say final destination will make you think and (worry) about your own fate and what lifes secrets really may be. the effects were spectacular, the plane crash scene was about the most horriffic, realistic scene of any movie ever made, and i personnely will never be bording a plane in this life time. the story was very original almost up until the end, and had one very unexpected scene that made me cringe, (i wont give it away), but trust me you will not be dissapointed and most likely you will jump out of your seat or atleast let out some type of unsettling noise. see this movie just be prepared to be a little bit dissapointed with the ending, but the ending does give you the final answer to the riddle.
Rating: Summary: In death, there are no escapes Review: Final Destination is another one of the typical teen slasher garbage flicks that we've seen popping up all over the place lately, but for this movie, somehow, it's an exception, mostly due to it's originality and not so cardboard characters. The psycho in the costume who can't run without tripping over something is replaced in this film by something more sinister, something that doesn't make mistakes, and that's Death himself, well, unseen that is. The plot is this: When Alex Browning (Devon Sawa) and his classmates are preparing to take a trip to Paris, he starts seeing weird things, and just before take off, he has a horrible vision of the plane exploding. And after he comes to, he exeriences major deja vu and freaks out, getting him and 5 others thrown off the plane. And before he can even explain to the others why he got them kicked off, they watch as their plane explodes during take off. And while they're all mourning the loss of their friends and are glad to be alive, Death has other plans for the survivors. You see, death has a plan for everybody, and if you alter that plan, another one will come up, making it so you can't get away with it. With that, the survivors start dying by disturbing coincidence, never showing someone killing them, it's all 'accidental'. And because of Alex's incident on the plane, the FBI has their eyes on him, while he tries to survive and protect the others, particularly Clear (Ali Larter) who seems to feel what he feels. However this isn't a movie that just lets you wait until someone else drops dead, there's a lot of paranoia between them as to who will be next. As for the death scenes, they are above average for a teen horror, being pretty graphic at times. And the ending (which i can't undestand why people don't like it) is sort of a shock, a very cool one too. As for the DVD itself, it's great. It has 1 extension of a scene (which is pointless), an alternate ending which is much more happy, unlike the suspenseful one they kept in, and a third scene that is pointless, but would have been very important if they had used the alternate ending. Also on the disc there's commentary by devon sawa and the director, and 2 fun 'games'. The first one tests your psychic ability, and the other one asks questions, and based on your answers, will tell you how long you have left before you die. So overall, great movie, cool dvd.
Rating: Summary: A Marvelous Flick of Horror Review: The movie that starts out by giving clues of a trip that Alex (Devon Sawa) was attending for french class turned out to be a disaster. On the plane Alex haves a vision of the plane exploding, he wakes up makes a big commotion. Which makes seven people from the plane get off. All of a sudden the plane crashes. It's known that they cheated DEATH! Throughout the movie most of the survivors get killed. And Alex has to find a way to avoid getting killed. Through the movie how the people were killed was good. I thought the ending was messed up. Out of all the movies I saw this year this was the best. I recommend you watch it.
Rating: Summary: The real "skinny" on this flick Review: If you liked "Scream" you're probably going to love this death spectacle as well. This is a pretty well-done teenage movie that confronts fate in a unique, if somewhat unbelievable manner. The main character, Alex, has images of his plane blowing up before departure to France with his high school class. When he causes a scene on the plane, he, as well as several classmates, are also removed for various reasons. Imagine everyone's surprise when the plane actually does blow up just after takeoff. The premise is really just an excuse to kill off the survivors one by one, justified by the weak philosophical idea that you cannot truly escape death when it is out to get you. This gives a really great excuse to watch people die in really incredible and dramatic ways. For the DVD, there's also a good feature that allows you to watch some of the audience testing that took place for the movie. You get to see what changes they made and understand how the movie was tailored to better suit its audience. I really enjoyed that as it was something I had not seen done before.
Rating: Summary: Sorry but Far from a classic ... Review: I'm sorry to say that I lost my time watching this movie ... This is one of the worst movie I saw in 2000 ... This is for the people that really enjoy movies like Scream or other poor scary movie ... Actors are great, but the movie itself is far from a classic ... Great FX but that's about it ... Hope we will have the chance to see a better movie before the end of the year ...
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable Review: From Glen Morgan and James Wong, alumni of TV's "The X-Files" and "Space: Above And Beyond," we, the audience, get an entertaining flick that comes as close to a thrill ride as Hollywood can offer as of late. Alex Browning, played by Devon Sawa who was in the 1999 teen flick "Idle Hands," foresees the tragic crash of the plane that he and his fellow classmates are on; he and six others make it off the plane before his premonition becomes reality. Now, having cheated death and that which was meant to happen, the seven survivors are left to be stalked by the menacing powers of fate. They only have so much time to figure out the pattern that death has set before them and how to prevent the powers that be from deciding their ultimate fate. I enjoyed this movie. It wasn't anything too involved and nothing you really had to think too hard about, and that's exactly what I was looking for. It presented an interesting idea of escaping the path that is set before us and taking control of the things that are often beyond our grasp, if but for a mere instant. The entire movie looked and felt like an episode of "The X-Files" and that probably added to some of my enjoyment. If that's your thing, I think you'll really like it. And if you're looking for something other than the cheesy horror flicks that Hollywood continues to vomit at us, then try "Final Destination" for a change.
Rating: Summary: Finally a good horror movie... Review: This movie was a delightful variation from the horror movie crap that Hollywood has been hammering out in recent years. The relatively untouched actors give the film a feeling that mainstream movie stars couldn't. While a touch on the gory side, it does get its point across. Final Verdict: Don't miss.
Rating: Summary: Great thriller!! Review: Since it's around Halloween time (as i write this it's 10 days before halloween) this is a pretty cool movie to see for halloween! the movie is about this guy who gets on a plane with friends and classmates from his french class, but has a horrible dream that the plane will blow up. he gets into a fight and gets kicked off the plane, which after takeoff, blows up. the rest of the movie is great, and i thought the picture quality and sound are also excellent. the story was pretty cool, and i really liked the fact that the killer is more of a feeling than some guy running around with a mask. The extra features are great! there are some games where you calculate the time where you will die, and another where you try to see how good your psychic powers are. i love the commentary with the actors (they crack jokes through the whole movie!!) if you like teen thrillers, get this movie!
Rating: Summary: An impressive unusual suspense thriller. Review: The plot is new:Alex Browing(Devon Sawa) is going to france with his classmates. Then he had a strange dream to flying to paris. Alex scare the hell out of the passengers, he was told to leave with a few another students and a teacher. Once the plane fly without them, a few minutes later. The plane explode from the sky. Alex was right about his dream, then a month later, the survivors are fateding away, one by one with unusual deaths. Alex cheat it death from saving the anothers but Death will never stop into, they are dead. The film is made by The X-Files vets, James Wong and Glen Morgan. The film has that feel from the show also. One of the year best surprise. Only the end, the last five minutes, the flaws from the movie, become an annoying almost fatal uneven ending. The original ending come with the DVD, is better and more dramatic, comes into a down-beat ending. Also another ending doesn`t come with the DVD is:Alex gets his head cut off by helicopter blades. The another:they didn`t filmed was Clear(Ali Larter) gets killed by death, after she deliever her baby from Alex in the operating room in a hospital. DVD: Special Features included: Three different audio commentaries from the filmmakers, actors from the film and music composer from the film, which three commentaires are all great. Great picture quality and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround is excellent with some deep .1 Lfe. The different fine short documentaries. A Fine DVD, better watching the movie with a dual layer DVD, the movie has a slight pause. Grade:B.
