Summary: Halloween Stands Alone!
Review: Halloween is an all time classic that is sure to frighten people of all ages for years to come! I first saw the movie ten years ago, and it scares me even today. Halloween deals with an evil so pure and unholy that we can almost touch it on the screen. The sequels it spawned were not nearly as gripping and petrifying, although Halloween 2 and H20 are probably the next best over all the others! If you're looking for a scare on any day or night, you can always feel frightened by popping in the video and pretending it's Halloween!

Summary: AN EXERCISE IN HITCHCOKIAN SUSPENSE. SCARY STUFF!
Review: This is without a doubt Carpenter's finest and most provocative work to date. Despite it's overly-simple premise, maniac psycho decimates babysitters and teenagers involved in the sexual act, this proves to be a claustrophobic chiller with more atmosphere than even Stanley Kubrick's 'The Shining'. An exercise in Hitchcokian suspense this film is astounding, not for ,it's story-telling, but for the way that the story is told. Carpenter's film is based on contrasting themes of light and dark, showing nothing when there should be something, and something when there should be nothing. A masterpiece with such a tired theme of 'maniac on the loose' that is often difficult to see just how original Carpenter's film is. A virtuoso and terrifying suburbian nightmare, that puts all of it's 'Friday the 13th' imitators to shame. Scary stuff!

Summary: Fair transfer of film, however laserdisc is better...
Review: Colour transfer was fine, and the monoral sound was crisp, however the Criterion laserdisc was much better with it's essential goodies attached. Apparently another totally new 5.1 channel DVD collector's edition is soon to be released.

Summary: Brilliant Film
Review: A wonderful film About a young girl [Jamie Lee Curtis] who is stalked by a masked serial killer. Jamie gives and oscar winning performance and Donald Pleasence displays a terrificly well acted Character playing the curious obsesive docter [Dr. Loomis] This is one of the most succesful low budget films of all time.

Summary: A CLASSIC
Review: This is without a doubt one of my favorite horror flicks.. The plot is basic. Young Lourie Strode (played by my fav actress Jamie Lee Curtis) and two of her friends are stalked by Escaped mental patient Michael Myers on Halloween. John Carpenter creates one chill after another in this low budget flick. Simply a classic, right up there with Psycho.

Summary: Michael Myers came before Jason and Freddy.
Review: This is a creepy and chilling film. Over 20 years old and it can make you jump more than more recent horror films. This film made for several sequels with this one remaining the best. Halloween paved the way for most mask-wearing killer films. Very scary. Look for other films directed by John Carpenter

Summary: this is one fine film!
Review: One of, if not the greatest horror film of history brought to you by a true master of the art!

Summary: this has to be the most suspenseful horror movie ever!
Review: This movie is great. It is highly terrifying, highly suspenseful, and has an engrossing plot. That of a child killer, put in an asylum for the criminally insane, escaping, and going back to the hometown he came from to seek revenge and recompensation. The methods and ways he kills in many ways seem to almost bring out the fear of "what if..." one of the childhood killers of this day were to get out. Its over 20 years old but it is the BEST in the series (I have seen them all)

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: A sort-of Horror classic
Review: HALLOWEEN is considered as the most successful independent film ever made, it's obvious why because it reacts just like an ordinary Hollywood Horror film.

Film buffs may find HALLOWEEN worth a watch because it has a couple of in-jkes for films like FORBIDEN PLANET and THE THING FROM ANOTHER WRLD (inwhich director, John Carpenter remade 4 years after this was made).

HALLOWEEN isn't all that great but thanks to John Carpenter's wonderfully eerie theme song it measures up nicely.
