Rating: Summary: A masterpiece of terror! Review: Warning-some spoilers ahead. This is one of the best horror films ever! If you want want blood and gore galore, get away. But if you want to be scared out of your pants,THIS IS IT! John Carpenter really knows what horror films are made of.This film has almost everything.A great cast that pulls off excellent performances,an awesome theme song, a likeable villan and plenty of sheer terror! Michael Myers is an awesome movie villan and one of my favorite villans of all time.He truly defines the word "scary".He's just awesome. And the hero,Dr.Loomis,is very likeable too.Donald Pleasance gave a ground-breaking performance as Loomis. He proved that old men could kick major @$$.The film was HIGHLY entertaining and creepy all at once. The atmosphere is very dark and scary and fits in just right. And Mike,he's just terrifying! The sequels that followed were pretty cool, but didn't live up to the terror and brilliance of this! Although there is practically no gore,it's WAY up there in sheer terror.Just buy this right now! One word of warning though-if you easily get scared,DON'T,I repeat,DON't watch this movie! Rated R-contains "mild" violence and a scene of brief nudity.
Rating: Summary: The scariest movie I've ever seen Review: When I first saw this movie, I was home alone with all the lights off, and Yes! I was scared to death all the way. This is the scariest movie I've ever seen, if you have'nt seen it, do it now! ( But be sure to have all the lights off, and a big bowl of popcorn by your side )
Rating: Summary: A piece of cinema history! Review: This is it folks, the movie that started the whole slasher genre. Many diff movies have copied this ones style, but none of them do it better than John Carpenter did in this film. The movie starts by showing a first person view of a person putting on a clowns mask and going up stairs and stabbing a teenage girl a little later we find out that micheal myers murdered his sister and was sent to a phychiatric ward for treatment. 10 years later he escapes and goes back home to kill the only remaining member of his family Laure Strode. This is where the story really picks up as laures friends begin to die off one by one. There is no gore in this movie at all. It relies on its mood and atmosphere, but it does it so well that it is called the greatest horror movie of all time. Rated R for a scene of sexuality, partial nudity
Rating: Summary: A breath of fresh air Review: After watching the awful Friday the 13th series, watching this was like a breath of fresh air. There is tension all the way through this film, even though there is hardly a drop of blood to be seen, which makes it even better. The finale ties the fim up in a grandoise way, and is a must for horror fans.
Rating: Summary: Halloween a great masterpiece Review: When I first saw this movie it scared the hell out of me. I love this movie. In the start of the movie it shows how evil Myers really is. I liked the ending because you already know that there is going to be sequel. I know that they killed him in Halloween:H2O, but the writers should be able to make at least one more sequel with Mike in it and make it as scary as the first one. ow if you are still unsure if you should buy, go out and rent it, watch it alone, then ask yourself if you should but it. It is absolutely one of the top 10 scary movies of all times.
Rating: Summary: A TRUE CLASSIC! Review: Why the AFI's 100 list didn't include slasher classic Halloween, I don't know. But, I'm not going to dwell too much on it, there was about a billion great films missing from the AFI list. Other horror movies like A Nightmare On Elm Street, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Night Of The Living Dead (1968) and Night's sequel Dawn Of The Dead were not included on the AFI list. But I know these movies are GREAT anyway, so I won't dwell too deeply on the subject. Halloween, was a film I recently watched for the first time in a while. Though I have seen it thousands of times. But when I watched it a few days ago, it boosted back on top of my favorite John Carpenter films. This movie really is a masterpiece. It has very clever scares, shocks and memorable scenes that will be around forever. Scream really did lack a lot of this stuff. The '90s are for sure filled with many horror films that lack memorable scenes.John Carpenter created such a great musical score and knew when and when not to play it. It really is a SAD, SAD thing that Carpenter is so dis-respected by many in his country. Because he's a natural genious. If you want my opinion, I think he's better than Hitchcock. I really do. Halloween starts off with the beyond-infamous score, that will never ever be un-hummed by horror fans. And then we slowly make our way into the nightmare where Michael Myers haunts Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) who we find out is Michael's sister in Halloween II. One of my favorite scenes is when we see Michael by the closet, rise to reveal he's not dead for the second time in the film. There are so many GREAT scenes in Carpenter's greatest. The story of an escaped mental patient stalking babysitters gives viewers great mindsets. Halloween has made its way back, to being, one of my favorite horror films ever!
Rating: Summary: Is there a better movie? Review: I just bought this movie (The collecters addition.) and I love it. The weird thing is the first time I seen this I didn`t think it was that good. Now when I bought the collecters addition and watched it again I thought it was great. I didn`t really finds it that scary, but I thought it was a really good movie. If you have the chance, buy it!
Rating: Summary: Halloween Review: This is without a doubt thegreatest modern horror film.It is genuinely scary, evenafter repeated viewings. Themusic score is awesome. Itremains the greatest theme music of all time. The similar films which cameafter it(Friday the 13th,Scream and the like are by no means of a quality evenremotely close to this. Buythis video now, but be sure to get it in widescreen format. And do yourself a favor and avoid ALL ofthe sequels as they will justmake you scream for more of this original classic.
Rating: Summary: Horror Classic. Review: In the genre of horror, there are few classics, and even fewer films that are high quality. Halloween came before all the dumb slasher films like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer. Halloween shows what true horror is all about, suspense, minimal gore and a good story. Carpenter does an excellent job of directing and Jamie Lee Curtis brings just the right amount of seriousness to her part. Made for less than half a million dollars, this film slices other films of this nature, that were made for four times as much, in half. This is a must have for any horror buff and for any film collector.
