Rating: Summary: Halloween 4 Evil Finally Returns In A Good Way Review: After a disappointing Halloween 3 (doesn't have to do with Michael), Michael Myers comes back to the screen! This movie is great! It is not better than the original (well, let's face it, none of the Halloween sequels are!). Yet, this story changes a bit. Laurie Strode supposedly died in a car accident and left an adorable youngster named Jamie (Danielle Harris). Harris I have to say is a great young actress in this film! She is a major strong point. Ellie Cornell plays Rachel, Jamie's step sister. Ellie is a beautiful girl with a lot of talent! Loomis actually comes back after supposedly killing himself to kill Michael in the explosion in Part 2. Loomis kind of kills this movie! He is practically a psycho! He just runs around yelling, "We must kill him!" Like I haven't heard that yet! Pleasance is the reason I gave this movie 3 stars instead of 4. Anyway, Rachel takes Jamie out for Halloween. They find Michael Myers! Trick or Treat! Michael then goes on a killing spree! The body count in the end is near 15. Michael's mask looks a bit weird, but the man behind the mask is scary all together! The death scenes are pretty cool too! The ending will leave you hanging! What will happen next? Rent this movie! I'm going to buy it to add to my collection!
Rating: Summary: GREAT SEQUEL! Review: It's been 10 years after the explosion at the Haddonfield Memorial Hospital, and Michael Myers(George P. Wilbur) lays comatose at Ridgemont Maximum Security Institute. On October 30,1988 Michael is to be transferred to Smith's Grove. On the ambulance one of the paramedics mentions Michael's niece Jamie (Danielle Harris)living in Haddonfield. The shape rises up and murders the passengers on board the ambulance. Early in the morning the police and Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence) search through the wreckage of the ambulance. When Dr.Loomis finds no sign of Myers he heads back to Haddonfield to search for his nemesis.Meanwhile, back in Haddonfield we are introduced to the Carruthers, a good foster family who have adopted Jamie Lloyd after the death of her mother (Laurie Strode). On halloween night Jamie goes trick-or-treating and is unaware that the shape is after her. But a major obstacle stands in Michael's way, Jamie's foster sister Rachel(Ellie Cornell). This all leads to an exciting climax and a shocking ending. Halloween 4,in my opinion, is a great sequel in the series. In my opinion, Halloween 2 is the best sequel in the series. All the castmembers do a great a job with their roles. Donald Pleasence does another excellent job. Ellie Cornell makes a great heroine. And Danielle Harris is an extraordinary actress considering her age. Also George P. Wilbur makes a good Michael Myers. The DVD is great too. It's presented in a 1.85:1 widescreen transfer. The picture is extremely clear. There is a Theatrical Trailer and a documentary Halloween 4: The Final Cut. After I went on about how good the sequel is, there are some things that keep it from being the best sequel. First of all, the dialogue at times can be laughable. Although, the acting from the three leads is solid, the lines they have to say can be tiresome. In the documentary, Alan B. McElroy explains how he had 11 days to come up with a script and get it to the studio. Well, it kind of shows. But I don't blame him. Also, jumping from location to location does down some of the suspense. It jumps from seeing Jamie and Rachel trick-or-treating to the police station, to the sheriff's house, then the elementary school, then back to the Carruthers house. It gets kind of old and non-scary, because we kind of lost Michael in the process. In the original Halloween they stayed with one location and that made it scarier. This is,however, a very satisfying sequel.
Rating: Summary: THIS WAS GREAT! Review: Now I know that the 1st is of course the best in the series, but this is definately number 2! The plot is good and it actually scared me. I call this movie Halloween 3: The Return of Michael Myers, since Season of the Witch isn't a Halloween film and shouldn't even bear the name! See this one after the 1st and 2nd, and they blend together perfectly, but forget Season of the Witch, because it's not a Halloween movie!
Rating: Summary: Oh well... Review: I just saw this movie on tv a few weeks ago and even though it was a watered down version of the film, it was still enough for me to realize that it's not all that good and not at all worth comparing to the first two. In HALLOWEEN 4, the movie makers tried to hard to make Myers the center of attention while in the first two, it's Laurie's character and those who surround her whol are the main focus of the film. In this sequel, the characters are lame and generic and don't spark any interest in the viewer. What was so great about the original film especially was that you had no idea when Michael would pop up. There was suspense then, but in this movie, it's almost like the makers of it felt obliged to stick him in whenever they had a chance. Part of the reason for that was because the script was tame and lacked credible substance. It becomes clearer and clearer to me as I catch tidbits of these sequels that John Carpenter should have been the only man to be in control of these movies. Although, he didn't direct the second one, it still contained visible traces of its predecessor. All in all, part four is a flimsy piece of horror cliches featuring a manic Dr. Loomis and a much dumber, over exposed Myers.
Rating: Summary: It Was Better in the Theatres Review: I saw this on the big screen a decade or so ago and watched it on television this month. I had not realized how early the Michael Myers story had begun to spiral down hill. This was the beginning. The music surely set a chilling mood and there were a lot of great ideas for the plot, but it just slumped off into the wrong direction. For starters, Haddonfield had degenerated from a typical all-american small town to a town full of idiot hick-a-billies who thought it would be fun to dress up like a serial killer just to irritate and harass more hick-a-billies loaded up in pick-up trucks with shotguns and rifles. Michael was much less practical with his killing. He chose to use a loaded shotgun as a spear to impale one of his victims. I think the real Michael Myers of Halloween and Halloween II would have pulled the trigger. The real thrust of this story was Michael's attempt to kill his niece since Laurie Strode was dead from an auto accident. All his attempts failed but at the very end his young niece flipped her wig and chopped up her aunt (or was it grandma?) The tenacious Dr. Sam Loomis, who had nearly lost his own life chasing Mikey, rushed up the stairs of the house when he heard the screams of the dying woman, only to find a little girl dressed in a clown suit, soaked in blood; the same scene Myer's parents encountered in Halloween. Poor Loomis lost his marbles too. And so the Halloween series could have been much better if the chase scenes between Michael and his niece had turned out to be a bunch of insane dreams that the girl's imagination had been conjuring up, eventually causing her to attack her relative with the scissors. Halloween 5 could have followed the story with Sam Loomis trying to reach the girl, only to find her going down the same path as Michael. It would have been a circular plot, but at least we would not have had to deal with what we got in Halloween 5, 6, and 8. I'm glad I saw this on TV. I quickly lost the thrill I had experienced in the theatre and realized that this is NOT a DVD worth owning, though an occasional renting wouldn't be bad. I'll stay with Halloween, Halloween II, and H20.
Rating: Summary: The best in the series! Review: A lot of people will hate to hear me say it, but this is my favorite HALOWEEN movie! I think mainly because I grew up with it. I was born the year the original came out so I didn't get to see it in theatres like I did this one. For me, this was the introduction of Michael Myers and Dr. Loomis (though I have of course seen the previous films since). This sequel is very close in plot to the original film it just has a bigger budget. Michael Myers has come back to Haddonfield, only instead of his sister, it's his niece (Danielle Harris) that he's after. And of course, several innocent teenagers get in his way. Donald Pleasance can do no wrong. Personally, I think with his death so should have come the death of this franchise. These movies are not the same since Pleasance passed. In this film, Pleasances character is more determined and crazed than he was in the first two films and the audience is better off for it. I can't praise Danielle Harris performance enough. She was only ten yesr old when she made this movie and she does a great job. Since, though, I haven't seen in her in hardly anything other than the URBAN LEGEND. This, like I said, is the best in the series to me. I watch it every Halloween and I can't praise it enough. Kudos to Dwight H. Little.
Rating: Summary: NOT GREAT, BUT NOT BAD Review: When I saw this movie was being released, I had to see it. One of my fondest memories as a child was sneaking in to see the first one when I was only 11-years-old. It scared me to death. While Halloween IV did not reach the same peak, it does deliver a few punches. First, the director tries a few new things with the horror genre and the slasher approach - especially towards the beginning. The second is Dr. Sam Loomis - who is just as indestructible as Michael Meyers himself. Third, Michael Meyers has a personality he never betrays. Michael always uses brute strength to attack his victims. He also splits them up before taking them out. Also, he usually kills only to set-up a trap or escape. Finally, there is someone in there somewhere. Dr. Loomis almost reaches him several times. The only thing is that by the second half of this movie, the screenplay falls apart. The direction becomes aimless and shoddy. In the end, all you have is a generic slasher flick taken from the Friday the 13th School of Horror. Still, see it for a few good scares. Don't watch it alone.
Rating: Summary: Typical. Review: HALLOWEEN 4 is a typical horror-slasher flick. After being in a coma for ten years, Michael Myers is to be transported to another institution. On the ambulance ride, a loose-lipped nurse reveals that Michael's sister is dead (supposedly) but that he has a niece living in Haddonfield. That info awakens Michael from his coma and he goes on a killing spree in search of his little niece, Jamie. HALLOWEEN 4 copies a lot of things from the first two HALLOWEEN movies. It also is full of plot holes and produces more questions than it answers. Don Pleasence returns as Dr. Loomis and incredible as it is to believe he is alive, it's great to see him on the screen because without him the film would have been much, much worse.Overall, typical.
Rating: Summary: "Typical slasher flick, but still worth the money..." Review: I won't lie to you, Halloween 4 is an okay movie. It's not very entertaining, however, until near the end when they show Michael Myers more. There is more gore than the first and second movies, but very doubtfully more than the third, which has nothing to do with Michael Myers, meaning that it should not be part of the Halloween series at all. The basic overall plot is Michael Myers has been in a coma from being inside the hospital when it blew up, and so he's been at the Richmond Mental Institute for ten years. But as he was being transferred back to Smith's Grove, he overheard one of the doctors saying that Jamie Loyd (Danielle Harris), the daughter of Laurie Strode, was living in Haddonfield. As expected, Michael sprang to life and killed the doctor by shoving his thumb in his forehead...very stupid, and to think Alan McElroy was actually involved in making the Spawn series in HBO. Michael, played by George Wilbur, goes back to Haddonfield and proceeds to stalk his little niece. Well, with a few boring stretches, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers will keep you entertained most of the time, but you may get bored of it a couple of times, too, so beware.
