Rating: Summary: Terrible Movie!! Review: I never like to write bad reviews because I have always thought that negative criticism is best kept to oneself, but this movie was so incredibly bad that I can't help but write a short and to the point review on the lameness of it all. The movie was NOT in any way scary....it wasn't even SLASHER scary-which is the kind of scary that has you jumping out of your seat or biting at your nails... This movie, along with Jason Goes to Hell, have totally flushed this series down the toilet. Don't rent this movie unless you want to watch pure, unmistakable trash. By the way, who casted this movie? The acting was so bad...I could have grabbed random people off the streets and given them scripts and they could have done a better job than the actors in this movie! The only decent performance was from the girl who played Roan. She wasn't bad. This movie is just bad. Don't waste your time on it.
Rating: Summary: AWFUL! Review: Okay, I am a huge horror fan, and a fan of the Friday The 13th series, but this has got to be the worst one to date. I should have known as soon as I read "Jason in space", but since I am a loyal fan of the series, I gave it a chance. Everything about this movie, especially the plot was awful, and the acting wasn't much better. The ending was horrible, as I expected. The only good thing about this movie was Jason's killing style, he is back and meaner than ever, no mercy, by far in my opinion he's done his worst killing in this movie. If you have all the other Friday the 13th movies, you probably want to add this to the collection. I just have to wait for Freddy vs. Jason.
Rating: Summary: Very disappointing sequel... Review: I finally was able to rent a copy of this movie and see it, and I did not like it! There, I said it! This movie was a big disappointment for a good number of reasons. One reason is that the blood and guts looked ---------FAKE! I hate to put it that way but it's true. The violence looked very fake. If you put Jason Voorhees in a boring edition of Star Trek then you've got the idea of what this movie looked like. In the last sequel, Jason Goes To Hell - The Final Friday, Jason went to hell (duh!) But in the beginning of this movie, his body has somehow been discovered and brought to a lab or something. They think he's dead but guess what? HE ISN'T! WOW! The plot was O.K. and a lot different from the other Friday the 13th films, and the action is poor, the gory killing scenes are rather cheap, and the characters are just as terrible. Don't buy this if you're a true fan to the Friday the 13th movies. It's a letdown. I love Jason Voorhees...
Rating: Summary: Highest Voorhees body count! Review: I loved the new setting of the latest Friday the 13th movie. I am a huge fan of the series but the camp setting was getting a little bit stale. A group of students land on earth on a sorta 'Field Trip'. They find two bodies in cryo stasis, one a beautiful dark hailed female (rommie from Andromeda), the other is our lovable Psychotic hockey masked wearing and machette weilding maniac Jason Voorhees (played by stuntman Kane Hodder). They revive the female, and try to dissect Jason. He of course decided he would rahter be the one doing the dissecting and goes on another killing rampage, with the highest Friday bodycount some of the greatest death scenes I have seen. Especially the one where he......your just gonna have to get this dvd and watch it for yourself. Four Stars!!!
Rating: Summary: A Legacy ... Review: The FT13 films have never been the mark of quality, and this is no exception. The scripts for these movies couldn't have been written by anyone over 12 years old, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't love them. I do like this one in the most cornball kind of way, but it's one terrible movie. Remember, increasing the budget doesn't increase the quality of the film. What made the Paramount Jason films good was their simplicity, and the fact that they were made in the 80s. Jason doesn't translate well to modern film, coz in this post-Scream movieworld, any film like this has to be a self parody(Part 6 already accomplished that much better). First of all, the title; They totally threw away the FT13 title(it really had nothing to do with the plot anyway), and now it's just "Jason". Wouldn't it be "Jason 1" then since none of the others are called "Jason"? Jason looks bad in this one. In the later films he was all decomposed and greyish, now he looks young again. His skin is normal, his eyes aren't all yucky and cruddy like they have been in the last few movies(since 6 actually). The film makers expect you to believe that Jason has been in captivity for some time and has been "executed" numerous times with no result. Didn't anyone think to incinerate him? And if he's been locked up for so long, why is he still wearing the hockey mask and the same clothes? Don't you think they would have removed the mask? He's been incarcerated for five years, but five minutes into the film he just feels he's fed up with the whole prisoner thing and just waltzes out of his chains and attacks everyone. Yes, this is yet another installment that pretends the previous film didn't exist. He gets aboard the ship with all the usual stereotype characters: evil, corrupt money grubber, nerdy computer geek, horny couple, wisecracking pilot(with cowboy hat), android chick(ever since Alien, if you have a movie that takes place on a spaceship, you have to have an android). The crack team of scientists and engineers are all hot women parading about in sexy attire. Yeah, right! There are no unattractive women on this ship. So, after Jason is thawed out, it's the same ol, same ol. Immediately he knows the layout of the ship better than the crew and has mastered the art of magically teleporting himself from place to place. Don't get me started on the fight scene with the android woman! This makes Power Rangers fight scenes look convincing. I could go on and on about every detail, but that would take me all night to write. So, if you've seen the other films and are familiar with the formula you know what you're getting into.
Rating: Summary: What?! Review: Can you say "What?!" This movie almost stunk! Why did people like this so much?! Space marines getting picked off one by one. And one good CAM SHOT of Jason's new "EVIL GETS AN UPGRADE" mask. What?! Sapce marines?! Leprechaun 4:In Space! Jello! Er...Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: An fresh, often different look and change to the series. Review: In the year of 2009-Jason Voorhees (Kane Hodder) is still breathing, still indestructible and still the essence of evil. When a hard-working female scientist (Lexa Doig) and her collegues try another ways to destory him but he keeps coming back. When the lead scientist trapped Jason to be Frozen but she ended being frozed with the undead murderer. 446 years later, when a group of young students on a routine training mission come to discover-when they accidentally discover two frozen bodies and learning that one of them is the Lengendary Killer of Crystal Lake but little what they know, when Jason is defrost, he comes back to life but his new environment and when technology has changed, he goes on a killing rampage but this time on a moving Space Ship! Directed by James Issac (The Horror Show, a.k.a.-House 3) brings an lively, sometimes funny sequel to the seemingly never-ending series to the Friday the 13th Series. Director:Issac and first-time, Screen-writer:Todd Farmer (He also has a small role in this) has it's clever and exciting moments with an delightful fun last half hour. Although knowing that the Plot is Silly and wandering how did Jason came back alive after Jason Goes to Hell, still the film is surprisngly entertaining with clever visual effects (Some of the CGI Effects are quite lame, which some is unintentionally hilarious) and Harry Manfredini isn't a bad score, either. Jason X is actually better than some of Friday the 13th Sequels out-there and it's also less violent or bloody than most. Executive Produced by Sean S. Cunningham (Who directed-the original:Friday the 13th) and Director:Issac. Watch for Canadian Filmmaker:David Cronenberg and Actor:Robert S. Silverman in Cameos. DVD`s an great anamorphic Widescreen (1.85:1) transfer and an strong Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound (also in DTS). DVD's has an great commentary track by the Director, Writer and Producer:Noel Cunningham. An entertaining 30 mins documentary on the History on the Saga of Jason Series. 17 mins-Behind the Scenes footage of Jason X and the Tralier from the film. True fans of the Series, will love this one. Filmed in 2000. Grade:B+.
Rating: Summary: Finally, a decent Jason DVD Review: Let's face it, no movie involving Jason Voorhees is going to win an Oscar for best picture, nor will Roger Ebert ever give one a thumbs up. But these movies aren't really watched for their plots, its for the kills! Jason X is supposed to have the highest body count of any Jason movie (I'm taking this on what I've read elsewhere 'cause I'm not gonna go through and count each kill myself) so there's a plus right there. There is also a lot of humor in this film and I think its more of a satire than people realize. Here's the basic premise of the film: Jason Voorhees is being prepped to be cryogenically frozen because there is no known way to execute him (what happened to the whole theory in "Jason Goes To Hell" about a Voorhees having to kill him? I guess they were wrong) (and no, there is no explanation of how Jason returns after the end of "Jason Goes To Hell") but some government-types realize that someone who can't be killed could be quite valuable. Big mistake, because Jason kills almost all of them. One woman, Rowan, manages to get Jason in to the cryogenic freezer but she is trapped in there with Jason. 400 years later, Earth is inhabitable and all the humans live in colonies in space. Explorers return to Earth and discover Jason and Rowan and bring them aboard their ship. They manage to revive Rowan but ignore her pleas to get rid of Jason. Of course, Jason wakes up and starts killing everyone (and when does he wake up? When the ship's passangers start getting frisky, of course). From this point on, its a fight to stay alive. So there's your plot, but the real plus to this DVD is that it has what fans wanted and never got from the "Friday the 13th" DVDs from Paramount: special features! There are no deleted scenes, but there is commentary from director Jim Isaac and writer Todd Farmer with clips from producer Noel Cunningham woven into their conversation. There are also two specials, one on the making of Jason X, and another on the history of Jason. Plus, there are trailers and that stuff. So, the bottom line is you get a bunch of kills, a few laughs, a few bonus features, and all for a decent price.
