Summary: Freddy finally "meets" Jason in a horror bloodbath!
Review: Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees were without question, two of Hollywood's most popular horror icons during the 80's and early 90's. The horror craze equalled sequel after sequel of "Nightmare On Elm Street" and "Friday the 13th" respectively, record sales of Freddy and Jason Halloween masks, and eventually had fans of both wondering what would happen if the two ever locked horns. Ever since my childhood, there has been talk about the possibilty of a "Freddy vs. Jason" movie. When New Line, who already owned the rights to Freddy's "Nightmare" films, picked up the rights to future Jason projects from Paramount, many fans felt it was only a matter of time. When Jason supposedly bit the big one in "Jason Goes To Hell", it was the infamous glove of Freddy Krueger that took him down to hell. Now in 2003, more than a decade since both killers died on screen for the last time, the ultimate meeting of evil minds is finally here.

In this generation's answer to "Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man", the evil Freddy Krueger uses the demented Jason Voorhees to instill fear into the hearts of the kids on Elm Street. For it has been too long since Freddy has taken on new victims in Springwood and his name is all but forgotten. But when Jason arrives on Freddy's old stomping grounds and starts taking out teenagers in a gruesome fashion, many people start to believe it is the work of Krueger himself. This leads to the fear of Freddy, which is what gives the gloved killer his power. All seems to be going good for him until Jason shows up at a keg party and starts a bloodbath that puts any of Freddy's to shame. The nightmarish Freddy is none to pleased and this leads to him bringing Jason into the dream world for the ultimate grudge match.

"Freddy vs. Jason" is a big-budget blood and guts roller coaster. Its body count excells high above any horror movie of recent memory. The two not only tear apart, decapatate, burn, and butcher every teenage victim in sight but also spend ample time dismembering each other. Where in Freddy's dream world, he is able to bounce the massive Jason around like a pinball, in the real world of Camp Crystal Lake, Jason has the massive strength to rip limbs off with little effort and decorate a bunk with the spinning head of Freddy.

The only true problem in "Freddy vs. Jason" will come to those expecting this to be a sequel to either "Nightmare" or "Friday". It is not. Aside from a few screenshots of old Nightmare films in the movie's opening, most of Freddy's history and formula is either forgotten or re-written to suit this new film. This movie does not spend too much time on elaborate dream sequences either. The same can be said for Jason. He is treated as an invader from another world trapped in Freddy's. The non-involvment of Kane Hodder in this role also makes Jason seem less and less the hockey-masked killer we know and love. Hodder gave Jason many of his most memorable character trates and he is sorely missed here.

The film's human characters can be a bit much at times. One victim in particular overplayed a bit by Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child fame makes this whole thing seem more like a bad "Scream" rip-off than a meeting of two horror superstars. Though a scene in which said character gets her nose chopped off by Freddy makes for a good visual treat. Speaking of "visual treats", this movie is filled with them. It relies on them more than anything else which makes for its biggest strength and weakness. Legitimely scary moments are few and far between. There are also a lot of the same played-out horror stereotypes (The nerdy kid, the snobby best friend, the goofy stoner, the dumb jock, the boyfriend that everyone thinks is crazy who really isn't, and of course, his sidekick, who really is crazy).

All in all, if you loved them as a kid, then you have probably been waiting nearly two decades to see this match-up on screen. It is that type of hype that will make this one nearly impossible to deliver with. The story itself is paper-thin and full of more holes than a Freddy victim but if you're just in it for the battle itself, boy, are you in for a hell of a match. Needles to say that the critics who have always found much to hate about both films will find this collaboration to be a disgrace to decent films everywhere. But who cares what they think anyway?

Summary: More like 4.5 Stars...Weak Acting kept it from getting 5.
Review: Don't get me wrong, I expected corny teenage acting and dialogue, but the main girl was Horrible! Robert Englund as Freddy was awesome, returning to his more scary form, while still managing to fling some funny one liners in the process. The two battle scenes(one on Freddy's turf, one at Jason's Crytal Lake) were much better than expected and were extremely gory to boot. I won't spoil the last minute of the film, but it is truly one of the best closing shots of a film that I have seen for a while. It had the audience laughing and wanting more. And I'm sure this series has just begun.

Summary: Worst horror movie that has been made in a while.
Review: First of all, when you take Friday the 13th, one of the lowest grossing movies of all time, and mix it with A Nightmare on Elm Street, bad things are bound to happen. They've been talking about making this film since like the 18th century and now have made it. Since I am like the only person on this review board who has actually seen this movie, I am definetly a reliable source. I'll tell you the ending. Freddy's head is carried by the Jason Vorhees. Yes, very stupid. But what's stupid is that they are making a sequel. Only this time they team up to fight some other guy. Evil and Evil VS Evil! They should like make another Home Alone movie with Macaulie Caulken and have Freddy and Jason be the robbers and like Macualie Caulken could like trick them and stuff. SWEET!!!!

Summary: A fun and entertaining gorefest
Review: Freddy Vs. Jason kind of seemed like an urban legend in the horror movie genere for a long while before it finally decided to become a reality. The movie industry finally realized the potential marketing value of putting the slasher movie genre's most popular and loved villains face to face. It was always a good idea from the start. Yeah, I would say that it was a little outlandish. But outlandish is what made the sequels to Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm St. If you didn't expect outlandish by now then you need to watch more Jason and Freddy sequels. Yeah, sometimes it was corny and stupid. I'm use to that when it comes to these two guys. But in the end, the movie was really fun and entertaining. I did think the whole set up to the two fighting was a little slow. And I do think that there could have been 15 to 20 minutes more of Freddy and Jason actually fighting, but this film is loaded with carnage candy and some really cool fight scenes. The film didn't feel like another addition to the lengthy line of sequels that we have had for a while. It felt like a whole 'nother thing happening. This film really is how these two classic killers will be carried on in the 21st century.

Summary: Near perfect B-slasher masterpiece
Review: Ronny Yu is an impressive and of course overlooked talent; he follows up his excellent Bride of Chucky in the horror genre with a masterful rendition of the so-long-awaited battle between slasher cinema's two biggest-grossing maniacs. The movie is a genre fan's dream, and good fun for anybody else. The plot is straightforward- Freddy's dead due to lack of frightened teenage interest and regenerates Jason the hockey-masked slasher to remind the Midwest what fear is all about, all in order to give himself rebirth. We get both of the killers' origin stories- even depictions of little camper Jason- nasty! as the main characters are introduced and the impressively strong story develops, as well as some full frontal nudity (in the very first scene, great homage to Bava's "Twitch of the Death Nerve").

The direction is tight and slick, with great battle scenes as well as finely-done but more normal teengager-hacking, and the dialogue is fantastic for the film (having seen Jason X, perhaps anything could be considered fantastic, but it really is sharp) with Freddy in top wise-cracking incorrectly political form.

I was quite impressed- the filmmakers did a great job, and the final scene (Friday the 13th movies are known for freaky post-climactic scenes) is absolutely wonderful. Worth two theater viewings.

Summary: Just...Wow
Review: Ok, i'm going to start this review by saying that I will not give any spoilers here. I will also say that I have been a huge fan of both of these series since I was a wee one. Ok, now onto the actual review.

This movie starts like a typical slasher should start, in the first ten minutes you get Gore a plenty, naked teens, and the homicidal and unkillable (although for different reasons) Jason and Freddy. For the laymen, the story behind both characters is recapped. Freddy is at his darkly humorous best and Jason hacks and slashes like only Jason could.

From this fan the movie gets five stars. One for the gore, One for the flesh, One for the humor, One for the premise (that every fan of the series has been waiting for since "Jason Goes to Hell"), one for the script.

If inquiring minds want to know, yes there is a definite winner.
I only have one question, when did Freddy learn Martial Arts?

Summary: THE TITANS OF SLASHER FLICKS BATTLE.
Review: This movie is more then what I expected too get out of it.The story is good the fx-is top of the line for this genra- the dark humor will not disapoint elm fans(me) & Plenty of party teens for f13 fans.
The story opens with clips from the elmstreet series and Freddies explaining why he is trapped in hell. The elm street kids no longer fear him .We Learn later on that all the parents of spring wood elimated the excitence of freddy from there records. The last few kids who remember are locked up in a mentle instution on drugs that keeps them from dreaming.Even the kids out side the instute are giving these drugs on occassion(ex: parents mix it with oj).
Anyway Freddie decides that Jason whould be a good way too put the fear back into Springwood. So Jason is resurected from his last defeat (goes too hell). He is then sent off-too Elm Street too punish all the bad kids. Jason's attacks are quickly blamed on Freddie -and guess who is back in the nightmare game. One problem-Jason is having way too much fun on Freddies turf.
So with the body count rising it is only a matter of time before the two clash. The fight that takes up a majority of the last half hour first takes place in the dream world and then in the real world with a third element throughing in interfernce-this element being a small group of surving teens.I do look foword too catching it a second time-if not its a deffent own dvd.

Summary: It's excellent!
Review: FREDDY VS. JASON is surprisingly good, and is one of the best Nightmare films ever! It actually makes Freddy scary again, and it has a...dare I say it...PLOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jason is now in hell (forget about part 10) and Freddy disguises himself as Jason's mother, minipulating him into killing all the original Elm Street kids, since they don't dream anymore. Each time Jason kills, Freddy becomes stronger. A bunch of teens, including Freddy's old nemesis, Alice, get caught up in the middle and eventually, Jason has had enough and the two of them duke it out in one hell of an awsome showdown!!

Summary: One of the best movies ever.
Review: Ok ok ok I know what ur thinkin , Freddy Vs. Jason cool idea and all but it will suck! You are so poorly mistaken my friends I just saw it today first day it came out. Literally one of the best movies EVER it had comedy, horror, and a lil bit of styles from both horror franchises. Now I must addmitt that none of their movies really are SCARY but this one was pretty freakin creepy , and for once I jumped a few times. I do not want to give the plot away like some of those who review do. But let me just say , the movie was basically funny, not funny as in so bad it was funny, funny as in Joke funny. Freddy is just as cocky and histarical as usual. Now, there was nudity that I think we have seen enough of in both series and could have done with out but other wise, this was on of the best movies I have ever seen ( and I have more than likely seen more than most of you ). If the critics have trashed then **** them, because this was great, and I highly recomend seeing it to anyone, even if you didn't like the past movies, or did, either way you are sure to love it.

Summary: I should have directed this movie!!!
Review: Ronny YU, prolly the worst director so far in this series, first of all someone who really admires horror movies loves the bad guy not the stupid kids thaT are suppsed to be slaughter'd, hell thats why back in the 80's they used no name actors not actors just trying to take over the movie. I WENT TO SEE THIS MOVIE ON OPENING DAY AND LEFT CRYING . No horror No scares , nothing! What was the director thinking?? He just ruined a cult classic
whAT IS up with all this stupid one liners said now by rappers or stupid teen stars through out the whole movie , I'm sorry but if they were face to face with a "Jason " or a "Freddy" in real life they would cry for their rich mommy and daddy to save them ....if this keeps up the next step will be "Jason" or "Freddy " movies to start starring "Batman" or "Spiderman" sent to save "Jason" and "Freddy" from bad scripts!!!
but until then director Ronny Yu killed off the ledgends known as "nightmare on Elm St" & "Friday the 13th"...I for one will miss you two ..Rest In Peace boys!!!!
