Review: okay let me star by saying this movie rocks. i saw it in theatres last night. it was the best and funnest horror movie in years. freddy is angry because he isn't scaring the kids anymore. he enlists the help of jason vorhees to scare the kids again. thus begins the ultimately fun horror movie battle to see who ends up being the best. it comes as apleasent surprise and you'll never see the ending coming. this is a really scary movie and it's so fun that they even add comedy. lol. well anyways i strongly reccomend this movie if you want a fun movie.

Summary: Battle of the horror titans. Yes please!
Review: "Freddy Vs. Jason" has been the hot topic for horror fans for over 10 years now, having been re-written and shelved many times since it's inception after "Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan". The results are, happily to note, better than one might expect.

The movie opens with a splicing of the classic Nightmare on Elm Street theme song, with Jason's trademark "Chi Chi Chi Ah Ah Ah" playing along. It is a sign of things to come. Freddy, bitter at the fact that he has beem forgotten, thus he is no longer powerful, summons up Jason to kill the remaining Elm Street children. Freddy's motivations are simple: "He'll get the blood, and I'll get the glory". Once he becomes a feared presence once more, he will have his power back and can continue his rampage. Unfortunately, Jason goes a little overboard and steals Freddy's spotlight. Freddy gets annoyed and, literally, all hell breaks loose.

For fans of slasher movies, you can do no better. There is plenty of blood and gore (perhaps the most of any slahser movie so far) and nudity to keep the fans happy. The acting and dialogue is pradictably inane, while the story suprisingly works. Considering all the ham-handed ways this could have been conceived, the final cut works well. It is a common mistake in later horror installments to take itself too seriously. By trying to inject an epic story, or give some new twist to try to explain old events, it only makes the movie weaker. This is a slasher movie, after all, so the formula shouldn't stray too far from what the fans love.

The two villians are equally menacing. Freddy (Robert Englund in his classic role) has his usual wisecracks and colorful moments, while Jason (newcomer Ken Kirzinger, who replaces Kane Hodder) does his best to both kill and take abuse in equal helpings. Special commendation should be given to the stunt work and special effects here, since they did a bang up job of making this the most violent and gruesome slasher movie ever. Kudos indeed.

Fans of both series have been waiting for this for some time, so they should be especially pleased. Non-horror fans should run for the hills. But for someone like me, who grew up with these slasher movies, this is a satisfying experience that exceeds expectations because it doesn't stink. Recommended.

Summary: Ridiculous, but awesome
Review: How old is this getting? How many times are Freddy and Jason gonna come back to life? I don't think that the story for this movie is good at all. I mean, let's face it. How many times have we seen these two guys die, and then come back to life. It's getting a little over the top for me. And what makes it worse is that the people in the movie can kill them everytime. But nevertheless, I think it's awesome. I mean, i don't know about you, but i've always dreamed that these two guys could duke it out. And now they've finally done it. A terrible story, but for all the gorey fanatics, it's a dream come true.

Summary: One of the best ones
Review: Freddy V.S. Jason long overdue?...overkill?...overdone?...maybe an AWESOME movie. I work at a movie theatre and we previewed it, FANTASTIC! The plot was very good, the fight scenes were incredible. Only negative thing I thought was that the actors were young and not very good at all. And they unveiled the plot too blatantly. I would have liked to see a few more fight scenes or more commentary by Freddy. other than that I think it was fantasic. They added some humor but yet kept to the roots of being startling/scary. Far too many times a movie is overlooked and is said it wasn't scary. However 9 times out of 10 there were scenes where your heart skipped a beat cause it startled you. This is one of those movies. Not necessarily scary but very very startling. Made me jump a few times, even when I was expecting it. Anyways great job and if you liked the first Freddy and first Jason then you'll like this one.

Summary: Worth the wait
Review: Ok I wasn't expecting much going in. That's how I am with jason/freddy/michael ect. You need to see this movie. If you're a fan of both series you will love it. If you are looking to see something scary avoid it then. It is a fun movie to watch. Some decent special effects. Some crazy kills. It isn't as corny as the other movies but it does have some cheesiness. It's a decent watch and you'll find yourself laughing alot of times in the movie. It has the usual horror movie cliches such as the women skinny dipping by herself late at night. Quiz:do you think she dies? Ok anyway kelly rowland is fairley decent. She isn't as annoying as busta rhymes or ll cool j. She has some funny moments with freddy. Check this out you'll enjoy it.

Summary: One, Two, They're Both Coming For You....
Review: This has been years in the making. Was the final match up between the two most famous serial killers in film history worth it?. You better believe it. If you are a fan who grew up on these movies in the 80's, then the release of this film is like Christmas. Freddy Krueger(once again played by Robert Englund), is losing power. The children of Elm Street are no longer dreaming, thanks to the drugs they are being fed, and no long suffer from nightmares. What is a psycho killer to do?. Get help via another psycho killer. Freddy enlists the help of Camp Crystal Lake Killer Jason Voorhees(this time played by veteran stuntman Ken Kirzinger), to come to Springwood and cause mayhem and terror so that the kids will once again be afraid and start to dream again. But Jason begins to like his new turf and no longer wishes to be Freddy's puppet. The main heroine is Lori Campbell(Monica Keena), who just happens to live in Freddy's old house on 1428 Elm St. Although, it is so obviously NOT the original house used in all the previous Freddy films. She, along with her boyfriend Will(Jason Ritter), and many friends, are the unlucky ones caught in the crossfire. Most of the teen's own seperate stories are not interesting enough to carry the film. They are okay to watch, but could of been more fleshed out. It doesn't help any that most of the acting from them was pretty stilted. Ordinary at best. Monica Keena, while a beautiful thing to look at, desperatley needed more honed acting chops to do this role justice. Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland, was one of the better ones of the bunch. Who knew?!. The whole section with Lori and Will and that storyline would of been so much better if there was a little more time spent on it. There is a lot of talk about what happened, but it all seems to be played out as just a lightweight thing to pass the time to get to the battle. It's not bad, but it distracts from the main narrative when it came close to being something rather good. Robert Englund is, once again, brilliant. This is classic Freddy. The look of the make-up and the sweater and the attitude was more reminiscent of the first 3 'Nightmare' film, than any of the latter ones. The wait to see Freddy again was worth it because Englund delivers brilliantly. No offense to Kane Hodder, but Ken Kirzinger really ruled as Jason. He was strong and a big presence. His Jason had a more subtle touch to it than the zombie like ogre presented in the last few 'Friday' films. A touch more humanity as well. This is one of the better representations of the character, if not the best, in any incarnation. Sorry Kane. The film definitley seemed to praise all of the traits that made up 80's slasher films. Nudity, [love], drugs, and rock and roll. It is all there in all it's unabashed glory. Although, the nudity really is brought to the film by the 'Friday' relation. The movie has barely started before these traits are thrown on the silver screen and we couldn't be happier about it. This is a movie that knows what it is and what fans of each franchises' like and want to see. The methods of murder are quite cool, and the body count is on par with any typical Jason film, although quite high for a film that Freddy is in. The movie will also please gorehounds because it is incredibly bloody. I have not seen such a bloody movie in a long time. It's a slasher movie all the way. The movie goes along with a real nice pace. There are signs that the movie may of been edited unfairly and that some scenes were cut off too early, but it has a good flow. It is certainly longer than most of the slasher flicks in the last several years, and you can tell. I enjoyed that a lot. The end battle scene is one for the record books. It is one of the most highly enjoyable moments on screen this year, if not the most. If you are a fan, you will be mesmerized and clapping with glee. One wishes it went on even longer and came up with even more inventive ways to torture and fight each other. As for the ending, well, it wasn't what I was expecting. I didn't really know what to expect, actually, but I was looking for something else. The balance of both films' traits are mostly well done, but at times it doesn't seem to fit. The 'Nightmare' films were several rungs above "Friday' on the horror ladder. They were a bit more classy and intelligent, so it seems kind of odd to see such female nudity and buckets of blood drenched about. But it was cool. Some people miss the point when they say it should of been Jason Vs. Michael. As much as I love Michael as well, it would just be two pieces of indestructible granite pounding each other. With Freddy, you get more than just hitting. You get special effects and so many different things to do that can take the film, and story, to heights that could never happen with just two people like Jason and Michael. People don't get that. Director Ronny Yu is a brilliant visionary. The movie is very sharp looking and crystal clear. He makes the most of every shot. Whenever there is a moment for something really cool or grisly, he doesn't come up short. The man is incredible. I was blown away with this film. I had a great time. The best thing to come out of the genre in ages. I give you my word. I was laughing(intentionally), cheering, and having a great time. The pairing of the two came across in a film that is undoubtedly entertaining, grisly, and over the top fun. You will have to see it more than once.

Summary: For Freddy Fans Only
Review: I caught the show opening night and I enjoyed it. For the most part it is A Nightmare on Elm Street part 8 with special guest Jason Vorhees. But it IS more or less a Freddy movie. Robert Englund reprised his role as the living and dead Fred Kruger. Englund began the movie with a narrated quick synopsis and recap, montage of the Elm Street saga and Jason does what he does best, slash those who have ... at Camp Crystal Lake.

Here's an overview of the plot~ Freddy needs what makes him strong, souls and the fear of him from the children. So, in order to rise again he uses Jason (posed as his mother) to ... for him so Freddy can rejuvenate. Once Jason hogs all the kills, Freddy becomes a little P.O.ed. Thus begins the battle!

The overall feel of the movie is indeed a typical horror flick, the acting sucks but the breasts are huge! Freddy Vs. Jason has more of an Old School feel to it ... Again we have the knee slapping joking Freddy as we did near the end of the nightmare series, which takes away from his creepiness... There are a few plot holes but hey it's a horror flick. The action was fair if not a little overdone. The makeup was pretty good. (One particular scene, Freddy's makeup looks totally-well you'll have to see it-it's cool) So who won, you ask? ...

Summary: ...
Review: Longtime fans of the "Nightmare" and "Friday" series will cringe upon watching this clash of the titans.

During the opening credits, the filmmakers explain what became of Freddy, who has been absent from theaters since 1994's "Wes Craven's New Nightmare". Apparently, the kids of Elm Street have forgotten all about poor Freddy, and therefore don't have nightmares. Without bad dreams, he can't go on his killing sprees. Finally, he gets the idea to have Jason, who's rotting in hell with him, to go back to Earth to create a little chaos on Elm Street. Mind you, Freddy hatches and carries out this plan before the credits end. All goes swimmingly for the dynamic duo until Jason starts stealing some of Freddy's choice victims. Things get rather ugly, and a battle royale insues.

Unfortunately, Freddy has lost all his appeal in the past decade. The man who used to be downright funny before slicing and dicing has resorted to nonstop swearing and screaming. Jason has remained the same, silently stalking the teenagers of Springdale. The slew of victims are the standard horror stereotypes. There's the trashy girl and her beer guzzling boyfriend, the wise cracking best friend, the leader with the deceased parent, the pothead, the nerd, and the young cop.

The death scenes, while appropriately gory, are nothing we haven't seen before. Only the opening victim (a'la Drew Barrymore in "Scream") gets whacked in an interesting manner.

The problem with Freddy Vs. Jason is not the bad acting or the ludicrous plot; these are standard devices in horror films. The problem is, it's nothing we havent seen before. These two monsters should have been laid to rest back in the 80s, and everyone would have been better for it.
