Summary: HALLOWEEN is comparable to the original PSYCHO!
Review: I liked the fact that this movie, unlike many others in the series, was not gory or bloody. It IS truly scary. And this DVD is the main reason many people have bought players, for options.

Summary: Read this review
Review: This is addressed to all those who disparaged Halloween...and to explain why it is well nigh the greatest movie ever made, with Suspiria a close rival...first, the brilliant casting of Donald Pleasance and Jamie Lee Curtis, and the real (sorry) star of the film, Nancy Loomis...the music is phenomenal. Really outstanding. The fright is not from seeing lots of blood (as if that's really frightening and not just unseemly), it's from the idea that on a little night in 1978 evil visited small town U.S.A. and then left as mysteriously as it came (I don't consider any of the sequels anywhere near this film at all). Evil visited Haddonfield. And sorry, the scene were Jamie enters the house and finds all her friends dead is the scariest scene ever filmed...not for shock value, but for disturbing terror. Get Halloween, love Halloween, watch it at least every October 31 - Samhain.

Summary: Nowadays, this is pure B-comedy!
Review: The first one in the series of (so far?) seven »Halloween« movies probably was a superbly scary thriller-horror movie in 1978 - but for today's public, it rather appears as a comedy.

There is barely any blood in it, and Michael Myers is easy to knock down (even though he doesn't die, of course...) by a young Jamie Lee Curtis who, by the way, look like herself, she only had longer hair and a smaller behind back then.

The real surprise in fact comes in the beginning of the movie where we see who Michael Myers really is!

Summary: The Classic Horror Movie
Review: The story deals with a character named Michael Myers, who at the age of six stabbed his sister to death with a kitchen knife. After spending about a decade in a mental hospital he escapes and goes on a murderous rampage in his hometown Haddonfield. Halloween is loaded with thrills and chills that would keep about every horror buff entertained. Scripted and Directed by John Carpenter.

Summary: Surperb tribute to the BEST horror movie ever made!
Review: What can I say! This is the best DVD I have seen yet. Not only is it crammed with special features it also has not one, not two, but three versions of the film on it. If you have ever seen this film on video then you will know that the quality of the picture and the sound was very poor. This new THX mastered version has been touched up a treat. The sound is excellent and the picture so crisp, if it wasn't for the clothes, you would think it was a new film. Other DVD manufacturers should sit up and take note. This should be the future of DVD.

Summary: Gory: No. Scary: Hell yeah!
Review: NO, this film is not a gore fest. But it proves that a film doesn't have to be gory in order to be scary. Suspense is great,Curtis is extremely believable, and the independenceness shows (the cinematography is so poor it's great).

Summary: WHEN MICHAEL MYERS STARTED KILLING, FILM MAKERS NOTICED!
Review: Halloween is, without a doubt, the most potent of horror movies. It is ok to call it a classic and fully deserving of its repeated re-release status. Michael Myers, after spending fifteen years in a lunatic asylum, returns to his hometime to exact hideous serial murders on the residents. At first, his motive seems vague, but we learn that it is his family he is here to get! Dr Loomis (the late and great Donald Pleasance) leads the hunt against Myers with original scream queen (Jamie Lee Curtis) providing cat and mouse factor. The film is well shot, with an eery soundtrack and paranormal outcome. Excellent casting, brilliant setting and delicious originality creates a film that is truly frightening... If we watch Halloween now, we can see why Scream is popular in this generation; and why sequals are still reeling in the cash. Halloween gave the modern horror masters an inspiration - who says that serial killers don't inspire people?

Summary: GREAT, SIMPLY THE BEST
Review: This DVD is perfect. No mistakes, beautifully organized, and a crystal sharp picture and amazing sound. This has to be some of the best work ever for a 21 year old film. Just when you thought i could not possibly get any better it does. The DVD is loaded with tons of extras including an interview, trailers, picture gallery, biographies, tv/radio spots, televison scenes, etc. I can not explain in words how great this is compared to other versions and just in general. Add all that up and compare it with an excellent film with suberb directing [John Carpenter], writing [John Carpenter and Debra Hill] acting [Jamie Lee Curtis, Donald Pleasence], and Cinematography [Dean Cundey] and you have got yourself a fantastic package.

Summary: I would compare to The Shining !
Review: What you just read above, it isn't any joke. For me, Halloween is the best serial killer movie ever made, and also John Carpenter's best film too. Michael Myers is the most cruel and scary serial killer, and Jamie Lee Curtis, the most beautiful and intelligent survivor ever. I totally recommend ! And if you're a really big fan of this classic, buy it on DVD !
