Rating: Summary: Better than the original! Review: This was a rare instance where I found I enjoyed the sequel more than the original. It has been a while since I've seen the first movie, but I think I still remember it fairly clearly. Like it's predecessor, this was also takes place in an isolated camp in the middle of the woods, but on the opposite side of the lake. This has always been an excellent place to set a horror film. One thing I liked better about this film were the characters. They were more entertaining to watch, had more depth and more intelligence then those that came along first. The set up before the climax is done much better, which makes the ending even the more dramatic. Even though the ending itself was better, the fate of several of the characters is never really explained. Perhaps in the 2nd sequel... The reviews that say this has been toned down from the first are correct. It is not nearly as gruesome, except for maybe one scene... If you have never seen any of the "Friday" films, I suppose I'd recommend the first. But if you have seen the first and assume you wouldn't like the others, I'd suggest you give this one a try. I'd give it 3/5.
Rating: Summary: Jason's first starring role! Review: I really liked this movie. The killings weren't super-creative, nor were they really that graphic, but it did have some pretty cool ones. Like where the guy in the wheel chair got a machete to the face and his wheel chair rolled down the steps. All in all, I think this is just as good as the first one.
Rating: Summary: A LITTLE BORING Review: ITS A GOOD FIRST INTRY OF JASON BUT ITS TO BORING THEY HAVE DEATH SECOND AFTER SECOND THERES A LITTLE TOO MUCH NUDITY
Rating: Summary: Not a bad sequel Review: Not a bad sequel at all. Like Halloween 2, there is always is something new good. This one isnt as good as the first one but stills make the best effort it could possibly do. This one introduces jason and a new set of camp counselors for him to feed on. More gore and more charcter but not as much scares as the other one. I still think its worth to buy though along with the first one. This one still has a plethora of frights but not as much as the first one. In all this is not a bad sequel and is recommended to all horror fansalong with the first one.
Rating: Summary: 5 years of silence broke! Review: This actually a very scary, funny, and poorly made movie all at the same time, but manages to be good. We are introduced once again to Jason, but this time he's all grown up now, and can do things for himself. The costume for Jason in this film, is actually creepy. To get scareed in this film you must take it seriously, and not make fun of it (that's what Scream is for) and enjoy this as a horror movie. This series is always being bashed by critics, but the fact of the matter is, Friday the 13th does have a plot and tells a long complex story, it's about a boy who drowned, but comes back to life to take revenge for his dead mother. He was a mongoloid and wasn't liked by the counselers or the kids, and was a mager hydrophobic. The only friend he had in the world was his mother, and when he saw her die, he went insane, and decided that if anyone ventured into the woods again, he'd kill them. This series is terribly misunderstood, and should be taken seriously, regardless how poorly they were made. Paramount better start releasing these movies un-cut, because idf they haven't relized, there are more people that like it than those who dont. It takes a certain breed of woman to face off against Jason Voorhees - delicate and sensitive, slightly on the prim side but resourceful when it comes to a life-or-death battle. Women should praise these films, because it is the women who are the heros and not the men. I don't think anybody really set out to change the world with these movies, nobody will ever be accused of trying to make a social statement or great art. What these films are is entertainment, and about what the audience wants. Can't wait for Freddy v.s. Jason, Jason is going to win!
Rating: Summary: GOOD INTRO OF HORROR LEDGEND Review: O.K., LETS START WITH JASON'S REVENGE AT START. JASON WAS FUELED WITH SUCH GRIEF AND HATRED,I'TS BELIVABLE HE WOULD DO WHAT IT TOOK TO SEEK THE COUNSLER OUT THAT KILLED HIS MOTHER. THIS SHOWS JASON MEANS BUSSINESS. THIS IS RAW FORM JASON. STARTING HIM OUT LOOKING AMATEURISH, RATHER THAN BEING IMMORTAL WITH HOCKEY MASK, WAS A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. THIS WAY,PEOPLE SEE THAT HE WAS SO IN A HURRY TO HIDE HIS FACE, ALL HE COULD FIND WAS A PILLOW CASE.HIS CLOTHES MAKE SENSE SINCE HE CAN'NT WALK INTO A STORE AND BUY THEM. HE WOULD HAVE TO STEAL THEM. AS FOR THE REST OF THE STORY, I'TS THE SAME BASIC PLOT, COUNSLERS GET KILLED IN THE NAME OF REVENGE. THE WHOLE SERIES LEAVES UNANSWERED QUESTIONS,AND HAS FANS TRYING TO ANSWER THEM.THE MAIN GOAL OF THESE FILMS IS TO GET A CHEAP THRILL, AND NOT TRY TO DISECT THEM. TO THIS DAY I KEEP WONDERING ,WHAT HAPPEND TO PAUL.
Rating: Summary: rent it before you buy it Review: The only reason I would think that someone would look at the reviews for a Friday the 13th movie is that they haven't seen it. If you are one of those individuals that haven't viewed this movie, then please go to blockbuster, hollywood video, videotime, or what ever other video rental store you go to and rent this movie and the rest of the series. Why? Because the Friday the 13th series is not for everyone. The DVD doesn't have many extras, mostly just trailers and commentary, so if you buy DVDs for the extras, and not the exellecent audio and picture, buy the VHS version.
Rating: Summary: My Favorite Review: The second part in the Friday the 13th series was one of the best to me. This turned the series into the never-ending killer theme that the sereies is. Jason looks real stupid wearing a bag on his head. It isn't until #3 that he gets a hockey mask from some messed-up dude. The film has its ups and downs but I really like the part where the main character (I forget her name) is being chased through the woods. Just like the others this one has another suprise ending. I wood suggest parts 1, 2, 3 , 4, and 6.
Rating: Summary: 4 stars for horror Review: I love this one! Jason is really creepy with that bag over his head, and the reason the first 3 were scary is that we didn't know Jason. I love all of them (with the exception of 5), but these are all great.
Rating: Summary: Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) Review: This is the sequel to Sean S. Cunningham's 1980 horror hit, Friday the 13th. The story is like this: Two months after killing the killer from the first movie, teenage Alice is knocked off by Jason Vorhees. Five years later, a group of teens prepare to open up a summer camp near Camp Crystal Lake aka Camp Blood, where the first movie took place. It turns out that Jason is roaming around the area, killing everyone who comes near. Can the teens outwit Jason or even believe that he's real? The heroine of the movie is Ginny, played by Amy Steel. She's one of the best horror movie heroines out there, too. Taking second is Paul (John Furey), Ginny's boyfriend. This movie is very good. It's quite suspensful, with a good amount of gore, with creative deaths (that's what the Friday the 13th movies are popular for, gory and creatuve deaths). One reason this movie is good is that Ginny is strong and smart (it's also hilarious that when she's in a bar she guesses that Jason might be "a frightened retard". That's so funny!). If you like horror movies, you'll like this one.
