Rating: Summary: For more thrills and more fun... Review: Friday the 13th Part 2 is very much like the first film in the series in it's plot and characters. The difference is that this time Jason Vorhees begins his eternal quest for vengence and his mission to punish those who seek the shallow pleasures of the flesh...or anybody else he happens to see. Yeah, whatever. There is no real morality or justification to what he does...he just does it. While Roger Ebert and the late Gene Siskel recommended that this movie and all movies of its type not be viewed by general audiences, I have no problem recommending it to cheap thrill-seekers who enjoy watching a body-count slasher flick for some lazy-evening fun. The characters are shallow enough not to be moved by their horrible deaths. There's just enough atmosphere to set up some of the films better shocks. The Manfredini score is pretty much the same as in the first Friday the 13th, because the movie is pretty much the same. Regardless of that, there's some pretty good chases and suspense. Amy Steel stands out, giving a far better performance than the rest of the cast. Paramount, showing their contempt for this series of movies even though they made quite a bit of money for them, has put together another no-frills DVD. The transfer (picture quality) is okay. The sound is just okay. Enhanced for 16x9 widescreen (thank you Paramount). One theatrical trailor. Bloated suggested retail price. Don't blame Amazon, they probably got stuck with a high unit-cost too. In short, a good movie on a not-so-good DVD.
Rating: Summary: an ok sequal Review: This movie was ok but it doesn't evan compare with the first one. I saw this movie right after I watched the first one. I was really excited to watch it because I thought that the first one was really scary but when I watched this movie I was dissapointed. I thougnt that the people who made this movie were really just trying to copy the original. The story like the first one is about a group of teens who descide to open camp crystal lake again and throughout the movie they all get killed by a murderer. But in this movie you know the killer is jason(the boy who saposedly drowned in the lake) which ruins the suspense. Also Jason wears a burlap sack on his head instead of the hockey mask that everyone loves and thats kind of dumb. I also didn't really like the actors as much as in the first. However I gave this movie 3 stars because evan though it tries to copy the original it has some scary moments and you get to see Jason as the killer, besides that this movie isn't really worth watching.
Rating: Summary: WATCH THIS MOVIE! Review: This is one of and maybe even the best friday the 13th movie out. The original one was pretty cool because you didn't know who the killer was until the end. However, this one IS AWESOME because it was the intro of JASON VOORHEES, the MOST AWESOME HORROR MOVIE BOOGYMAN. Even though the plot may be the same,(a bunch of horny teenagers get killed in the woods or in their beds after attempting to have sex) besides the first movie this and probably the 3rd friday movie were the only ones, I think that had some suspense. (the first movie was filled with suspense) Also there are some pretty cool kill seens including a machete in Tom Mcbride's face.(the actor who plays "Mark") All I'm saying is that if you're a friday fan or even just a horror movie fan go rent or buy this movie. You won't regret it!
Rating: Summary: Good Sequel! Review: This was an ok sequel! This is where Jason steps in! It has good gore, ok story, ok acting! I think you should watch this and see what happens!
Rating: Summary: a good sequel Review: Friday the 13th part 2 was as good as the first. In fact, I kind of liked Part 2 a little better because it had more people in it and of course the killer is (you know who). Part 2 explains everything that happened in the first movie. I guess in a way you could skip the first movie because Part 2 lets the viewer know what went on at Camp Crystal Lake or "Camp Blood" as they say. However, as I mentioned in my review of the first movie...the killer is probably the main reason why the original Friday the 13th is a classic. Some people may not like the fact that the heroine from the first movie gets killed in the beginning of Part 2. Yes, I didn't care too much for that either but trust me...it doesn't spoil the movie.
Rating: Summary: The very first Jason movie! Review: After his mom bought it in the first film, childhood drown victim, Jason Vorhees returns from his watery grave for the first time (but certainly not the last) to exact revenge on any horny teenager dumb enough to visit Camp Crystal Lake. If you're not a fan of the slasher genre or of horror movies in general then there probably isn't any reason to watch this one but it does make for good, cheesy fun.
Rating: Summary: WHOA!!!! Review: Jason Voorhes is now a grown man, but still a psychopathic loony. When some kids come to close to his territory, he gets mad. With a machete, and a burlap sack over his head with one eyehole, Friday the 13th Part 2 is a ton better than the first. Except for the fact that we have still not seen Jason with his hockey mask. Yet. With blood, gore, and a demented face that is shown at the end, Friday the 13th Part 2 just makes you say, "WHOA!!!!"
Rating: Summary: PRETTY INFERIOR SEQUEL Review: THIS SEQUEL INTRODUCES JASON VORHEES, THE MANIACAL AXE MURDERER WHO'S KNOWN FOR HIS HOCKEY MASK [WELL, HERE HE WEARS A WHITE SHEET FOR A MASK, HE DOESN'T WEAR THE HOCKEY MASK UNTIL PART 3]. IN THIS SEQUEL, JASON EMERGES FROM THE DEAD TO KILL ALL THE TEENS AT CAMP CRYSTAL LAKE OUT OF VENGEANCE TO WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS MOTHER IN THE 1ST MOVIE. THIS IS REALLY MORE OF A REHASH THAN A SEQUEL. THERE REALLY ISN'T THAT MUCH EXCITEMENT UNTIL THE LAST 15 MINUTES. I'D RECCOMEND THIS SEQUEL TO ANY DIE-HARD FAN OF THE FRIDAY THE 13TH SERIES, BUT TO ANYONE ELSE, I'D RECCOMEND ''HALLOWEEN'' OR ''A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET''.
Rating: Summary: One of my favorite horror films Review: I have seen nearly 500 horror films, and Friday the 13th Part two is definatly in the top 20 (which is much higher than the original). I can definately understand why there are so many negative reviews of the film, and most of the things they are saying are probably true. But you know what I like this film in spite... strike that... because of all that [garbage]. Obviously the film's plot is a retread of the first film, but hey, I've seen that plot in 498 other horror films too, thats just how horror films work. A hero being chased by an invincible killer and how he/she overcomes the impossible... and lots of other people get killed in the process. That being said, I love this film. Its just awesome. All the kill scenes are just spectacular. My favorie has to be the guy in the wheelchair, that is friggin' classic. Jason is an equal oppertunity killer! The acting is atrocious (and so is my spelling) but I wouldn't have it any other way. I don't want to like these people. I don't want them to say meaningful things that I can relate to. The less I know about them the better, because I know in about five minutes there's going to be a machete in their head. So let them spit out one-liners and cliches they'll be gone soon enough. So if you can get passed the flawed script and the bad acting (which in my opinion are both part of what a good horror film is) you can get into the special effects and direction by one of my favorite directors, Steve Miner, in his directing debut. The effects in this film are superb: ghastly, bloody, revolting, classic. The direction is above par for a splatter filck especially for a newcomer. Finally the movie definately still packs a scary punch. I don't care how cool you think you are, or how stupid you think horror movies are, Jason is a mean MF and if you aren't afraid of him, he'll see to it you don't live to say "that looked so fake"!
