Summary: The saw is family
Review: So read the poster for the second sequel to this highly influential backyard meat movie, yet neither it nor the sequel before can even come close to the impact of the original. Inspired by the infamous Ed Gein cannibal case of the fifties, this movie succeeds through sheer virtue of relentless terror. The best thing about it is that you never really see anything...save for maybe two or three actual scenes containing minimal blood, everything is implied. The constant roaring of Leatherface's chainsaw and the almost documentary look of the film make you think you see more than you actually do, and your mind's imagination just takes it from there. A true classic, inducted into the National Art Museum, and it still packs a whallop 26 years later. Poor Tobe Hooper...he's made some valiant efforts, but none of his films since even compare. But what can you expect when you start at the top? There's nowhere to go but down. If you call yourself a horror fan and don't have this film in your video library...shame on you.

Summary: highly overrated
Review: The movie should be a classic altough i don't know why. There are some scenes that doesn't make any sense: When the only surviving girl is running away from leatherface she runs straith forwards away from the house and after a while she ends up back there. Also she runs to the gasstation in a recordtime, it took longer to drive the distance with the car in the beginning. And it took for ages untill the first kid died all the others followed in 5 min. The story is kinda cool but i wasn't impressed at all...bummer

Summary: low budget is right.
Review: This is a movie? Where is the plot? Stupid beyond belief. I got so board with this one that I couldn't wait til it was finished. The only reason we watched it til the end was because we paid for the rental. There is simply no rime or reason to this; none whatsoever. It might have caused a stir when it first came out but now its nothing but lame.

Summary: The Most Frightening Most Visceral Scarefest of the 70's!
Review: What a great horror film. What a great DVD. Anyone who considers himself a horror afficionado has to see this movie if he hasn't already. It isn't as gory as it's rumored to be. The only reason it really has that bad rep, is because of the title and the subject matter. That and the raw intensity the film exploits. The movie's last twenty minutes basically consist of Marilyn Burns running and screaming. She gives such a REAL performance at the end of this movie, you begin to think it IS REAL. I'm sorry but she's a better screamer than Jamie Lee Curtis. (This is saying ALOT since "Halloween" is my favorite horror film EVER). Getting to the DVD. It's great. It has not only the trailers from the first movie but all three sequels TOO. It also has deleted scenes (Leatherface puts on makeup), a blooper reel and other cool nik-naks. Buy this DVD. You'll be happy.

Summary: THE MOTHER OF ALL HORROR MOVIES
Review: As a kid, just about every horror movie I ever saw had the power to scare me. As an adult, only one still does. And this is it. THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE is, without question, the most horrorifying film ever made. Anyone who tells you different probably hasn't seen it. Anyone who's seen it will undoubtedly tell you the same. But don't take our word for it. Buy it, watch it and find out for yourself. Just don't say we didn't warn you.

Summary: BEWARE
Review: I saw this for the first time the other night and instantlly liked it. As soon as the kids reach the house the pace never lets up to the very end. It isn`t actually that gorry just incredibly tense and quite often shocking. If your`e thinking of buying this film I have 3 words for you. Buy, watch, enjoy. Or maybe 4 words. Buy, watch, enjoy, review.

Summary: Absolutely spellbinding... and creepy. Cult film all the way
Review: To the poor sap who hated the movie, I'm sorry. It is a little creepy watching it just as a movie. It seems pretty tame now, actually. The thing that makes it scary is that this actually happened. It is based on a true story. Chill bumps run down my spine when I think of that kind of torture being inflicted on someone for no apparent reason. Also, the camera work was great... it captured events at all of these great angles. It captured the story as only Tobe Hooper can! Whoever picked the music for this movie also did a good job. That happy "do-do-do" kind of music in the van scene when they pick up the hitch-hiker is creepy. The plot was good, and after the movie is over.. whether you have to just walk to your VCR to get out the tape or out of the theater to your car, you are paranoid the whole way. Not very often can a film do things such as this.

Summary: Not gory, but scary none the less
Review: The picture quality isn't too good, but I didn't expect it to be. The atmosphere is well established, and there is great suspense and terror. It is not gory in the bloody sense, yet due to its graphic nature, it may seem so. It can scare, while not becoming cheesy like the awful and wretched Next Generation. With a better transfer this could be one of the most entertaining horror viewing experiences. Indeed, its still great, but it has some hard-to-see areas that weaken the appeal. Still, it is one of the most frightening horror films of all time. If you are in to classic terror, that is not so bloody, check this out. It is a twisted film, but it's entertaining anyhow. Also, see the other great classic Halloween. It has a great transfer now, low gore, and greatness all around. It's also a little less macabre. For those who are a bit odd and those who love horror, see TCM.
