Summary: One of the greatest and most disturbing horror movies ever!
Review: The Texas chainsaw Massacre was released in 1974 and was honored over 5 special awards including the 'Cannes film festival award of '74. The film takes place deep in the woods of Texas, where a group of people in their mid twenties are looking for their grandfather's old house in which he apperantly left a load of cash. The grandfather oddly dissapeared, as well as the grandmother. The reasons unfold, opening much more disturbing questions for later. As soon as 2 of the young people go to check out the farm across the road, they realize that a cannibalistic family is there and there is no escape. Based on the true crimes of Ed Gein, TCM is one of the most teriffying, most unbelievably scary and disturbingly suspensful horror flicks the world has seen.

Review: One of the sickest and disturbing films I have ever watched. I live kind of close to the place where this film took place, so I can really relate to the surroundings. I was in shock after watching this film, perfect for a great scare.

Review: I thought this was a great movie. If you are into horror movies, this one is a must. The movie does a good job at letting you feel what is going on in everyones mind. I cannot think of anything really negative about this movie, and would definitely suggest it for anyone who loves horror movies.

Summary: And What Will Be Left Of Them?
Review: A brutal and fascinating horror film - one of the best of it's kind. The movie has been praised by critics and fans, and even Steven Spielberg. Imagine that! It's a marvelous, ghoulish, unsettling masterpiece that builds up so much tension it's nearly unbearable. The screenplay is loosely inspired by the murderer Ed Gein (who was also a model for "Psycho" and "Silence of the Lambs"). A copy of this motion picture is featured at the Museum of Modern Art. Good luck to the 2003 remake, I doubt it can come anywhere near the sheer brilliance of this shocker. The sequel, which was also directed by Tobe Hooper is a grisly disappointment.

Summary: LEATHERFACE NEEDS SOME MAKE-UP.............!!
Review: Since I am a "Horror Fan" and had not seen this whole movie, I felt it was time. Understanding that this was a low budget movie , I can forgive a lot of its short comings. However, this movie wasn't really scary, it was just a bit disgusting. I guess it has to get credit for the fact that it started the "slasher" type of horror movie. THAT, is not something you should be proud of.... this was the father of all the sick movies that had plenty of blood but not much of anything else.
The last 1/2 hour is just full of "Sally" screaming, I was going to turn the sound off...! And the last scene at the dinner table is more disturbing than scary. To discuss this movie in the same sentence with "Psycho' is an utter insult to Alfred Hitchcock. I think it is worth seeing, to try and understand the hype, but like someone else said....this is the '70's "Blair Witch" also an over rated movie. See it once......and forget it, because it was a good first try by a talented director with no money, but it is just that...a good try considering the finances... Rent "Psycho" or "Halloween"....REAL horror movies.....

Summary: [Bad], but fun [bad] if you like that sort of thing
Review: I write this review with a certain amount of reluctance, for I fear that if I upset any die-hard fans of Tobe Hooper's seminal, controversial cult horror film, I might wind up being butchered with a carving knife, my bones and severed limbs arranged as a kind of semi-pagan work of art in a graveyard somewhere. But what the hell: Fans of cult films usually know damn well how awful they really are; that's all part of the appeal. I suppose fans of Texas Chainsaw Massacre have found something delightful in this low-budget schlocker: Fair enough. If I tell you that of the entire cast, the chainsaw gave marginally the best performance, you will get an idea for the kind of talent involved. Most of them couldn't act their way out of a sack; which feat, ironically, one of them is actually called upon to perform at one point. It is not hard to see why this movie was banned for some twenty or so years: Its content is singularly unpleasant, and it seems useless to pretend that the intention was anything other than to shock ... its audience; which, like I say, is fair enough if you enjoy that particular subgenre of horror. Hooper exploits our very worst nightmares, the classic scenario in which you're chased by a madman with a scary face, and there's no getting away. He plays on this fear at the expense of believability and depth (surprise, surprise), though it must be said, he does it well on occasion: There are one or two truly terrifying images that manage to lift the film momentarily out of its general artlessness.

Summary: Best horror movie ever
Review: In the genre of horror, it doesn't get any better than this. This movie has everything. Well, except tons of gore. However, the deleted scenes more than make up for that. The DVD edition is awesome. The deleted scenes are mostly silent (all but 2), but they definitly add to the movie. They should have kept some of them in the final cut. This movie is pure genius. There is really nothing else to say.

Review: Well, if you not sure about which chainsaw massacre to buy ? Trust me and go with this one ok ? The original made back in '74...Even tho it was low budget it still scare the ish out of me dawg ! I have to say that they follow up of this one are all garbage so save yourself some money and only get this masterpiece alright ? Peace kid !

Summary: THIS is horror!
Review: No matter how many times I've watched this movie, I'm scared sh**less. I love movies that can scare me even after watching them a million times. Watching all the extras on the DVD didn't help, either. I watched all the Deleted Scenes, the Bloopers, even put an alternative soundtrack on the movie (with Gunnar Hanson, Tobe Hooper, and a production designer narrating) and it still scares me. Oh, I can handle my horror but The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of those films that stays with you and refuses to leave. Today's sick jokes of horror films have nothing on Tobe Hooper, Wes Craven, Dario Argento, or the rest of the horror masters.

Summary: Classic horror at its best.
Review: Even though this movie was released nearly 30 years ago, it still packs a punch with me and many others. There's not a whole lot of blood or gore, but the overall mood of the film makes you feel like you need a shower after you watch it. Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel took a real-life madman and fashioned a whole family, especially the gruesome, yet pitiful, Leatherface. Hooper didn't need to show a lot of gross-out scenes; you got the gist of what was happening and were freaked out anyway. If you are a serious fan of horror films, then this should be in your collection. Check it out!
