Rating: Summary: Amusing entry in the series, but rather lacking Review: Stephen Hopkins (Lost in Space, Predator 2) helmed this fifth entry into the Nightmare on Elm Street series where we find Alice (Lisa Wilcox), the survivor from the previous Dream Master, pregnant with Freddy once again on the prowl. It is here where the series begins to try to dish up more details on Freddy's past to add to the story; but hardly anything can save this dismal installment. Freddy's one liners are stupid and aren't funny one bit, the acting is simply horrid (Robert Englund just looks more bored in his role than ever before), and the film as a whole isn't scary one bit. The few saving graces of The Dream Child are Hopkins' stylish direction and some nice kills and gore effects, but for the most part this entry is just plain dull.
Rating: Summary: Terrific Premise in the Series makes this one Watchable. Review: After thinking that Alice (Lisa Wilcox) has destory Freddy (Robert Englund). Alice is now, finishing High-School and having a nice boyfriend (Danny Hassel). When one day, when she day-dream, she dreaming inexplicable about Freddy and Now, he's back alive to hunt teengers from thier sleep by using Alice's unborn baby and striking at her friends.Directed by Stephen Hopkins (Predator 2, The Ghost and the Darkness, Lost in Space) made a watchable sequel, which it has more story to tell than Nightmare 4. This has a clever script by Leslie Bohem (Dante's Peak) but the story moves so slow and Hopkins visual style keeps up from being sinking. Although the visual effects are great. This didn't do well at the Box Office. Less successful than the another four films. It's still watchable. DVD has an fine anamorphic Widescreen (1.85:1) transfer and an great Digitally Remastered Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. DVD is actually the R-Rated Version. Grade:B+.
Rating: Summary: amazing Review: wisecracker freddy returns now trying to posses alices unborn baby great effects and gore
Rating: Summary: The Dream Master Returns with a Dream Child Review: Alice has been living safely with her "nightmares" behind her. She's got a boyfriend, graduated from high school, her dad is recovering from being an alcohol addict, and an unplanned baby on the way. And Alice is going to do everything to protect and keep the baby. But that's going to be harder than it seems, because Freddy has been hiding inside of Alice, and is now using her unborn child's dreams to get more souls. Alice must prepare for another battle with Freddy, and must do all she can to protect her baby. In A Nightmare on Elm Street 5 : The Dream Child, the series began to delve into Freddy's past. Freddy's mother, Amanda Krueger, was also brought back into the storyline. She was used in A Nightmare On Elm Street 3 : The Dream Warriors, but not as much as she is here. She's crucial to the storyline in NOES5. Lisa Wilcox proves again that Freddy is no match for her. Even though I'm not a big fan of Nightmares 4 and 5, Lisa Wilcox's Alice is my favorite Nightmare heroine. I believe it's her eyes. With Nightmare 5's interesting plot and Lisa leading, I believe that it is the weakest entry, other than Nightmare 2, in the series. It didn't have what the rest of the entries do. I don't quiet know what that is, but it didn't have it. But as it being part of the Nightmare series, I do like it.
Rating: Summary: SON-OF-A-KRUEGER! Review: One of the BEST I've seen in the 'Nightmare' series would have to be this fifth installment, "A Nightmare On Elm Street 5: The Dream Child". Sure it's quite possibly the weakest of the bunch due to that it lacks even more horror and suspense than the fourth did. However, the improved special effects and the disturbing visuals make up for it. Alice (of NOES 4) returns once again to battle the evil monster, Freddy Krueger after discovering what may become of her unborn child. After her boyfriend, Danny dies, Alice (with the help of her friends) tries to solve the mystery to how Freddy is killing them all off one by one even when she is not asleep to pull them in! I'd have to say that the jokes and humor may be a little weak in this one, but it somehow proves to be a worthy sequel next to 'The Dream Master'. Filled with spectacular performances, imagination, and spellbound revelations, NOES 5 is sure to attract even the most hardcore Freddy fan! CHECK IT OUT!!!
Rating: Summary: Underrated Sequel Review: Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child Freddy wants to come back! So he uses the dreams of Jacob, an unborn baby within Alice, to get to the kids again. Now, Alice must find Amanda Krueger to stop the demonic murderer. This Freddy flick is a very underrated sequel. This has some great comedy and very little gore. When there is gore, it's pretty intense! I rented the unrated version, which I reccomend! I give this sequel a 7 out of 10.

Rating: Summary: Boring at times but mostly fun. Review: NOES 5 to me was just made since the previous installment , the decent NOES 4 (1988) made the most money at the box office, therefore one year later in 1989 the franshise was not to reluctant to come out with part 5. First of all the movie in general is slow-paced. The first half hour is kind of confusing but is eventually explained well. Alice from the previous NOES gets pregnant and is ready to deliver a baby. Soon after she starts having weird dreams and belives Freddy is behind it all. The thing is she is certain she killed Freddy in the previous installment and don't know how he can come back. It turns out she is right for the most part where Freddy meets her and is looking to take her baby, as Alice learns Freddy was causing the dreams through her unborn child. The movie kind of has a unique gothic tone to it, even exploring more about Amanda Kruger, Freddys Mother. I think the problem with the movie though it boring at times, slow moving and the acting is clearly weak compared to the other installments. Cartainly not the best of the series which goes to the original NOES, but just cannot be the worst of all installments considering NOES 2 takes that honor.
Rating: Summary: The worst of the them all Review: This is the worset of them all. There is ver little fight back and action. The victins deaths are corney and stupid. There are some cheezy lines like don;t sleep and drive. The part that makes fun of superman at the end was very cheesy. The only thing that keeps this movie from being a one is Freddy;s whitty lines, the return of Alice from the fourth one. The return of Amada Kruker freedys mother Last seen in Nigmare on Elm Street three Dream Warriors. My Recomendations see 1-4 four and Freddys dead and Freedy versus Jason. Do not see Nightmare five unlesh your bord senlesss. I just hope Freedy dead and new nightmare are better. I am plannig on by 4 and Freddy Versus Jason.
Rating: Summary: A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child Review: I am a big 'Nightmare on Elm Street' fan. Numbers 1 and 2 were very dark, 1 more so. Numbers 3 and 4 were more light hearted, but were still violent, (I especially loved the 'puppet' death in number 3). But number 5 comes somewhere in the middle. It tries to balance the themes of light and dark evenly. Sometimes it works, but others it crashes and burns. At the begining the music is very creepy, it is genuinly quite un-settling. But then all of a sudden Freddy pops up about 15 minutes into the film and pulls some joke. And then it gets darker again, and then there's a joke, and then it gets darker, and then there's a joke, and so on... My point is that Freddy is his own worst enemy here. Sure, Robert Englund does a great job at portraying him (as he always does), but I can't help feeling that if Freddy was a bit darker, like in 1 and 2, the film would be a whole lot better. You see, what we are given is a very gothic horror film, with a wise-cracking villian. It doesn't quite add up. Also, peaple watch these kinds of films for the deaths. This film, how ever, has only three deaths. 2 of them are quite good (the 'motorcycle' one and the 'doll' one), but the last one is just ridiculous. Not good ridiculous, but BAD ridiculous. So, this isn't a bad film, not by a long shot. But it's not a great film. I think that this is one (unlike 1,2,3 and 7) that is just for the fans.
