Summary: The Best Nightmare Since the Original
Review: This movie was easily the best sequel in the series. The idea of Freddy coming into the real world and trying to get out of the movies was awesome. The series took a really bad turn when they made Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare. It was so bad. I'm so glad Wes Craven took the time to end this series with his great writing and excellent directing. He put the series to rest. This series, like others, had suffered the sequel syndrome. Halloween, Friday the 13th, Hellraiser, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre are some examples. John Carpenter should come back to end Halloween with a ninth chapter. Even H20 was the best sequel since the first. They should have ended it there. But anyway here is my opinion on how the Nightmare sequels go from best to worst.
1. Nightmare on Elm Street
2. Wes Craven's New Nightmare
3. Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
4. Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child
5. Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master
6. Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge
7. Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare
But I give my thanks to Wes Craven for ending this series. If he hadn't, we probably would have been up Nightmare on Elm Street 12. Thanks Wes.
P.S. I can't wait for Freddy vs. Jason. Wes Craven and Sean S. Cunningham are producing it.

Summary: Wes Craven Gives Us What We Wanted
Review: Wes Craven's New Nightmare is a smart, clever, imaginative, brilliant movie. Craven brought Freddy and the series back in an ingenious way that didn't insult the audience after having witnessed the supposed final chapter in Freddy's Dead. Having people playing themselves with a "real" Freddy was superb. The film was handled with such grace and style, it puts most other horror films to shame. Now, there was a lot less of Freddy and Robert Englund in this movie, and that's disappointing, but in a way it works. A film always works when you see less of the villain. Speaking of Robert Englund, he gives a marvelous portrayal of the new and improved Freddy. Heather Langenkamp and John Saxon returning was also perfect. To me, they always represented the best of the Nightmare films. Wes and Robert too,of course. The body count and gore is at a huge low, but that's okay. It's more about story and the characters. Freddy was never big on huge body counts or excessive violence anyways. This is a must for any fan. Freddy fan, horror fan, whoever. It's masterful filmaking with a satisfying outcome. Check it out!.

Summary: Very Good Movie!!!
Review: After the first I thought another GOOD Nightmare would never happen, boy was I wrong! This movie does have a lot of slow not scary parts and that is why it didn't get 5 stars, but other than that it is definetly worth $13. Great ending and even greater story. BUY IT NOW!!!

Summary: By far the BEST of the sequels and one of Craven's best.
Review: I love this movie. The original "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Wes Craven's New Nightmare" might as well be the only two films in the series. After creating a classic horror film with the 1984 original, director Wes Craven sold the rights to his Freddy Krueger character and the series was taken over by other filmmakers. This resulted in many mundane, lifeless sequels (with exception of Nightmare 3 which Craven did cooperate with as executive producer and story writer). By the time "Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare" came about, the series probably could not have gotten worse. Then, a few years later, Wes Craven returned to the series with "New Nightmare", a film which takes place outside of the movie universe of the Nightmare films. Heather Langenkamp, star of the original film, returns and many actors play themselves (including Craven in a rare acting appearance.) I'm so glad that Heather Langenkamp is in this movie. I loved her in the original and found her more appealing that any future lead actress in the series.

The result, in my opinion, far exceeded any of the Nightmare sequels. In fact, I'd say it's among Wes Craven's best movies. Like the original, it's a horror film with a brain and real ideas. Not just another slasher-fest with Freddy cracking jokes and killing. "New Nightmare" is an intelligent, well-written and well-made film. The idea is that Freddy Krueger is an evil force that really exists and that after being killed off in the movies, he wants to move into the real world. One thing I love about this movie is how it blurs the line between films and reality. Wes Craven is one of the masters of brainy horror and he really manages to add depth to his films that you don't often see in the genre. This is why I regard Craven as one of the greatest horror directors of the last three decades. "New Nightmare" is one of his finest achievements and is absolutely essential for Craven fans.

Some fans of the Nightmare series give this movie flack because it strays so far from the established formula. However, that's exactly what I love about it. It doesn't just rehash the same old crap again. It gives us something new and original. Sure, Freddy doesn't have much screen time, there's not much gore and there's no dumb teenagers (a big plus), but that's not bad at all. "New Nightmare" sacrifices visceral thrills (which some horror fans can't accept) for ideas and innovation. This is a great horror movie from a great horror director.

Summary: A very scary movie.New Nightmare rocks.
Review: First of all I had to take a point off because I was not impressed with this video's sound at all.It was far too loud even down on 3.I could feel my face get flushy and one of my ears start to hurt so I had to turn it down.Other than that this was a brilliant movie and a true masterpiece.Heather aka Nancy is as gorgeous as ever. She is a very underrated actress I think. And Robert Englund is my favorite actor because hes just so good at being creepy and scary.I was even scared when he played just himself in this movie. For some reason I didnt trust him.Maybe it was because of the fact that he played Freddy or maybe it was because it would be a scary twist if they had him (Robert)be evil himself.Almost all of the scenes are haunting and scary and the movie showcases some of the best special effects ever seen.Freddy is an ancient evil and the only way they could kill him off for good was to make another movie. How cool.It plays like real life and has the actress's(Heather's) and the actors (John and Robert) and this only makes the movie more convincing.Heather's little boy(the one in the movie) was having dreams in this movie and acting possesed.I think he gave off one of the scariest performences since Linda Blair in the exorcist.Scary little people. The scary scenes all seem very real and this is what makes it scary. It feels like your watching your own dreams. And trust me I occasionally dream about Freddy and its pretty scary.I think almost everybody who watches these movies does. Its a good thing you cant really get killed by having a dream. To me New Nightmare is easily the scariest and best movie in the series.I think Ive said enough.See you next time.In your dreams.

Summary: To Clever?
Review: The last entry (for now anyway) in the nightmare on elm street series and boy does Wes deliever...[People] were expecting another punny slaughterfest and what they recieved was one of the cleverest horror films ever made.Dont expect high body counts or pointless one liners but instead fall head first into one of the most ingenious plots to ever grace the silver screen.
This film is all about the 'real' Freddy.Apparently Freddy is an evil daemon kept under raps for the last decade by the films but because Freddy was never given a proper send off 'real' Freddy has manifested. The only way to stop him is to make another film and end it.Reuniting Freddy with his archenemy for the first time since A Nightmare On Elm Street 3 where she died.A great piece of movie history.
Cant wait for Freddy Vs Jason.

Summary: Glad to see Freddy is back to his SCARY self.
Review: I have to say WES CRAVENS NEW NIGHTMARE was a great way to end a good Horror series. The things that made this movie so great are Heather Langenkamp appearing in this series for the third time. Her role in NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST 1 and 3 were vital roles for the complete series, and in this one she shines more than EVER as an adult rather than a teenager who has to once again deal with Fred Krueger. She gives so much emotion as a mother who is very protective of her son and who is guarding him from Freddy tormenting him. This movie gived Freddy new life by bringing elements of the dream world crossing in to real life. I like the fact that WES CRAVEN who directed the original Nightmare on Elm St brought Freddy back to being scary rather than a smart off comedian as he had become in the previous films in this series. I say Check this movie out. GREAT FLICK.

Summary: What was I thinking?!?!
Review: This is brilliant. The best elm street movie yet. The first time I seen this was about a year and a half ago, and I thought it was the worst, utterly boring is what I thought. Now, I just bought it the other night,'cause I felt like giving it another try and watched it, now I love it. It is such a smart movie, and a great twist in the franchise. Wes Craven thought a lot about doing this movie, he even said he couldn't find anyway to follow on from the sixth film. The film is hardly like a sequel, it almost feels like it's a completely different film, and not a sequel. The film changes to a docusoup, with some of the cast from the original movie, it even stars Wes Craven himself, Heather Lagenkamp (Nancy on the original) is in it, along with John Saxon (Nancy's dad) and a small cameo by Nick Corri (Rod on the original), and of course, how could we forget Freddy? Freddy doesn't do any more of the stupid comedy anymore, but he does have some good one-liners like "Hey Dylan, ever played skin the cat?" The gore isn't always big in this, but there are some sickening scenes. Also, Freddy has a different claw, a large, new and improved metal one, and he has a different looking face. The music is slightly better aswell. I like the way Wes brings back some of the classic moments in the original to this one, example: Heather picks up the phone on this, and a tongue comes out from it, which is also from the original. The ending is class, it starts as a killing at a hospital, then Freddy tries to attack the young boy Dylan from the cluds, as Dylan is running across a busy street, then we get to Freddy's real lair, he gets pretty freaky there. The one point I don't like though, is that this movie can confuse you a little. Apart from that... BRILLIANT!
So, this is the best elm street movie yet, extremely clever and quite scary. Don't miss!

Summary: Hated it!!!
Review: I'm sorry, but I did not like this film. I'm glad I did not pay to see this in theaters. I saw it on TV (cable), and was not pleased with the film at all. Bad acting, and a waste of film. The movie was not scary, and it was predictable. Truth is just watch the first 4 Freddy movies. Those are the BEST ones in the series.
