Summary: A very original movie for it's time, led to a new genre.
Review: I thought this film was an excellent horror movie, I also was suprised at the cast and crews ability to be scary, original, and had very good special affects for its budget.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The movie that has become the standard.
Review: Evil Dead has become more than just a movie. it is a cult classic. The special effects of the movie are well beyond the budget, and are still amazing even after seeing modern computer animation. This is the only movie in the series that scared me. I love it.

Summary: One good flick
Review: Evil Dead is a well thought-out movie with a decent plot. There are some good kill-scenes in there along with some good make-up.Even though this movie gets a bit slow at times,I would recomend it to any true horror fan.

Summary: Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi kick major a$$! EVIL DEAD RULES
Review: I am a HUGE fan of low budget horror flicks, and when anyone asks me for my top 10 faves of all time, EVIL DEAD is and always will be among them. Plot? Five college kids head out to the mountains, come across the Book of the Dead, do a little light reading, and then the shotguns, axes, and chainsaws come out! IT'S NOT YER DADDY'S MOVIE, FANBOY! This here's good ol' fashioned zombie demon exorcism by evisceration! The demons coming apart at the end will put you off of Spaghetti-O's and tapioca pudding 4-LIFE! A MUST SEE! If Stevie King hisself sez it's good, then it's good!

Summary: Cheap excellence.
Review: I don't think that I've ever come across a movie that had as much blood as the Evil Dead. The special effects (aside from the grande finale) were some of the best that I've seen, even in comparison to today's gore flic's, or even most gruesome tales like Friday the 13th, or A nightmare on Elm Street. The acting was a little pathetic, but really, if all you are really wanting is to be jolted from your seat and you want to see some pretty demonic scenes-then who really cares about bad acting? It truly is amazing what you can make with a few bucks, isn't it?

Summary: An Enjoyable Gore - Fest!!
Review: I saw Evil Dead when I was 12 years old, and it nearly scared me to death. Now I see it as part comedy, part public service announcement not to read that blasphemous book the Necr...oops! The demons of Sarnath, no Kadar wouldn't like you watching Evil Dead without playing Call of the Cthulu or at least watching some troma flicks. If your in to Lovecraft, get this film!

Summary: A great horror flick for the whole family
Review: This is a great testament in the Evil Dead series. I like this movie a lot, but Evil Dead 2 was better.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Not for the faint of heart - but definitely one of the best
Review: I originally saw the Evil Dead at a Midnight Movie in Birmingham, Alabama - and it scared me. i've seen it dozens of times since, and yes, I've noticed the cheesy effects, the claymation, the lack of continuity, and guess what - the movie still scares me. The movie is violent, claustrophobic, creepy, bloody, and just plain scary. A must for anyone who loves horror films. If you've not seen it - do yourself a favor - get the video and don't watch it alone.
