Summary: Don't know about this one...
Review: First of all, this shouldn't have even been called JASON TAKES MANHATTAN because he got nowhere near taking over any city especially Manhattan, and he was only there for about 20 minutes. But, other than that, this wasn't the best of the F13's but it wasn't the worst (part 4 was!). The highlights were the creepy beginning when Jason is brought back, and the ending in the sewers. Once again, Kane Hodder does wonders as Jason making him scarier than ever :)

Summary: brilliant!
Review: This is the best part in the whole series. It combines laughs with gore and dosnt Kane Hodder do a good job.But the thing that i like about this film the most is the soundtrack,"Darkest Side of the Night"is one of those classic metal tunes that remindes you what 80s music used to sound like.

Summary: Guess who's back for the eight time?
Review: Friday the 13th part eight was the most dissapointing film I have ever seen. It contains a plot a weak as Rod Stewarts knees at the sight of a blonde and does nothing to the fantastic series except bring it down. C'mon lets face it even the biggest Friday the 13th fan is getting tired of Jasons antics and his constant re- animation. The licence is wearing paper thin as this film shows, and some parts of the film are simply crude, for instance a blonde student tries to get off with her princaple beacause she has'nt done her project-thats just sick not entertaining. As for Jason, well by the end of the film I was just thinking "Oh god will you please die" because he was tiring me as he had been 'deystroyed' so many times and was just getting up again and again. The plot of the film is about a girl who can't swim who is going on a boat with her school, how stupid can you get? I mean why would you want to go on a boat if you had no chance of surviving in an emergency? The deaths were quite predicable once you saw the beggining of a scene and were very unimaginitive. To add to this girls problem she is also being persued by the corpse of Jason along with the spirit of his younger ghost who pulled her under the water when her uncle pushed her in. The only thing that saves this from one star is that it's part of the series and fans will want to see Jason in the big city. You will however be dissapointed as most of the film takes place in a boat. There was no sense of fear in me while I watched this and the thing I was scared of the most was that theres more films to ome after this. To sum up this film in a word I would call it dissapointing. Don't waste your money on this tripe buy a good film like SCREAM or the old FRIDAY THE 13th, because if you spend any money on this you'll kick your self afterwards. The way Jason comes back to life is also very stupid and the way that the people on the boat just happen to have a hockey mask is rediculous. Buy it if you enjoy regretting things

Summary: 1989 last great year 4 horror movies
Review: the 80s were no doubt the best decade for horror movies and therefore 1989 was the last great year for horror movies. some franchises had their best installments then (friday 13th part 8) while others had the worst (nightmare elm street 5). but that 8th jason flick really stood out. it tried to have the series break some new ground but since it was the 8th in the series most people didn't even bother to try and care about it. give this one a chance and it will really suprise you how good this one is.

Summary: Worst one in the series!
Review: Whoever thinks this film is the best in the series probably hasnt seen the rest of the films. This subtitle for this movie was"Jason Takes Manhatton" but they are only in manhatton for about the last 15 min and most of that takes place in the sewer. The first 80 mins of this piece of garbage takes place in a ship where jason takes out the crew one by one leaving a small amount of survivors that he stalks once in manhatton. Very little blood and gore in this one folks. Rated R for mild violence and partial nudity

Summary: the best friday in the series
Review: this one is the best friday film in the whole series since it has the most original plot to it and the dark theme really sets the tone for this one.

Summary: 5 stars for all the classics!
Review: In 1989, the last year was here for the greatest horror decade ever! After '89, we got breif glimpses of Freddy, Jason, Michael Myers and Leatherface in the '90s. As a matter of fact, Jason himself, only got 1 '90s flick under his belt, " Jason Goes To Hell : The Final Friday. " But I have this great feeling the '00s of the 21st Century will bring back the '70s and '80s masters of the silver scream! Well, in '89, we got " Leatherface : The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 ", " A Nightmare On Elm Street 5 : The Dream Child ", " Halloween 5 : The Revenge Of Michael Myers " and " Friday the 13th Part VIII : Jason Takes Manhattan. "

In Jason's 8th, he left for the wilderness to take a litte vacation to New York City! Many fans dislike this entry, seeing how most of the film takes place on the trip to New York, rather than the Big Apple itself. But I love this film, Jason looks really cool, and of course Kane Hodder returned from Part VII, to portray Mr. Voorhees. He's also returning once again to play Jason in the upcoming, highly-awaited Jason X. There's little gore here, and the nudity is very quick ( Jason throws the nude blonde against a mirror, we get to see some of her before she crashes into the mirror.) Still all of the installments in this series are great!

Summary: just takes an open mind....
Review: if you're a jason/f13 fan, then this film may or may not be for you. if you have a closed mind about things and believe that jason belongs in the woods and nowhere else, then you probably won't be able to get into this at all. but if you have an open mind about things and can see jason getting into some new territory then this film could be for you. with this one, either people love it since it is different than the rest and an original idea or they hate it since it doesn't hold necessarily "true" to the others since jason isn't stalking a summer camp. that concept had long since been worn out, and, jason needed to go somewhere else. now granted, this movie, when compared to other movies doesn't earn 5 stars, but it certainly deserves 5 of them when compared to other f13 films. would you rather see him hack his way through a summer camp for the 7th time or see him get out into the big city for the very first time? it wasn't how this film was made that earned it the high rating, but rather the idea of the script, the creativity that got it what it earned...it just takes an open mind to see the vision that the writer/director had to be able to write the script. the director didn't exactly play it out the best way possible, but still, it's visible to a certain extent what his intentions were. this installment is clearly the best of the series, including parts vi and ix.

Summary: Not bad,but not the best
Review: Warning-some spoilers ahead Why do so many fans hate this film? It"s not the best F13th movie, but It"s pretty darn cool! Sure, it does have some serious flaws, but it has some good features. The good stuff-Kane Hodder,Jason in part 7,reprises his role as the hockey-masked slasher and gives an excellent performance. He proves that he is born to play the part and no one else.He should win an academy award.Second,it has some great humor, when the boxer gets his head punched off clean and when he removes his mask and scares the gang members.Brilliant humor. The atmosphere is also very dark and creepy, which is a key ingredient to making a horror film scary. We also get to see some great, never before seen kills, such as the boxer getting dispatched with the sauna rock, and the drug dealer getting stabbed with his own needle and the teacher drowning in the toxic waste.Very imaginative. Now for the bad parts-First off,how does Jason ends up all the way in New York when he"s in Crystal Lake,Massachusetts? Why does his skin look burnt when in part 7 his skin was rotten and decomposed? Why is his "Chh,chh,Ha,ha" sound so much different? How is he able to teleport up a building and pole when in the first seven he never did that? How can he all of a sudden swim? And what the hell is up with the ending? Him turning into a little boy after getting washed away in acid and it doesn"t eat through him? Very stupid and unsensible. And for the most part, the killings are more of the same.Throat slit with machete, saw that in part 2.Speared in the back, saw that in part 4.Head punched off,saw something like that in part 6.I was also very disappointed that Harry Manfredini didn"t return to do the music.Fred Mollin"s score is good, but it"s not the Jason music were used to.I must also say that the rock song "Darkest Side Of The Night",heard in the opening and ending credits,is quite awful. And Jason only takes Manhattan for 15 minutes. The rest he"s on a cruise ship. Also, when the two teens and two teachers are in the NYPD cruiser, where the hell is the barrier! Despite these flaws, the film is quite good and is pretty entertaining.Rob Hedden imaginatively wrote and directed the film and isn"t bad for a starter. However, hardcore blood "n" guts fans,be warned- this heavilly lacks on gore even more than part 7, so you might want to stick with the original and part 4 if you want extreme violence and gore galore.Although the film doesn"t live up to the brilliance of parts 4 and 6,it"s still darn cool despite the lack of gore and is recommended for those who want to see Jason in some new territory. Also,be sure to watch Jason when he"s resurrected- it"s a laughfest! Rated R-contains somewhat "gory" violence, brief nudity, drug use, brief profanity and an attemped rape scene.
