Summary: Not as good as the first but still alright
Review: Did I rent an r rated version or what this movie is not as gorey as everyone says.There is only one part thats gorey and thats it you dont even see the guys head get cut off at the beginning.But besides that leatherface has changed into a wimp that wont even kill this DJ.Also the DJ just keeps screaming.And Dennis Hopper just keeps screaming bring it all down as he cuts the familys house down.The only good thing about it is the performences by the family.

Review: I don't know why all the negative reviews on this movie. Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a good movie to watch to pass up time. Forget that it doesn't live up to the original classic, this is a movie for a TRUE horror fan. This movie does have its flaws. Leatherface went from a ruthless killer into an over-sized trick-or-treater with a soft side. That was about it. But on the bright side, it has its improvements. The camera, the setting, even the characters seemed to have upgraded. Caroline Williams does a terrific job as the terrified, but brave heroine.

Summary: Tobe Hooper takes a chainsaw to his career
Review: For my money, "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"--the 1974 horror classic that's survived so long because of its unrelenting, terrifying realism--is the only good movie director Tobe Hooper made before toiling in the dregs of B-movie obscurity. With recent low-budget crappers like "Spontaneous Combustion" and "The Mangler" under his belt, he's fast becoming the latter-day equivalent of Ed Wood, Jr.Maybe the start of his downfall came with this unredeemably awful (and needless) sequel to his one true masterpiece, which pits a Texas ranger "Lefty"(Dennis Hopper, acting in a heroin haze) and disc jockey "Stretch" (Caroline Williams, whose only line is "oh my GAWD" intercut with excessive screaming) against the Sawyer family, who have been living--surprise!--under a theme park since the incidents in the first film. Once again, there's a whole lotta killing going on, mostly of the usual slow, stupid characters you find in sequels (frat boys, rednecks, etc.). This should've been called "The Rocky Horror Chainsaw Massacre," because everything is done for OTT yuks and very little is scary. The inanity ranges from Leatherface's desire to have chainsaw sex with Stretch; the reappearance(?) of the dead brother who supposedly got run over by an eighteen-wheeler at the end of the first film (I may not be right about this, but whoever was playing him did a dead-on impersonation); the "Cook" winning chili competitions and claiming "meat is the secret" (yuk, yuk). The script also transforms Leatherface into a sympathetic, Frankenstein-ish monster, I kid you not... If Hooper (or the screenwriter) had intended this as pure camp, they should have made it more obvious, and maybe given this a different title so we wouldn't associate it with the 1974 original. As it stands, TCM 2 is a total desecration of its roots, save for the makeup effects (hitchhiker-guy is the scary highlight of this dismal affair) done by Tom Savini, who continues his quest of trying to loan credibility to horrible horror films. In a homage to "Alice in Wonderland," Stretch falls down a big rabbit-hole and into an underground slaughterhouse, where Leatherface is using an electric carver on a fresh victim when he discovers her in the corner. She begs for help, so what does our big, dumb, Frankenstein-monster do? He puts a mask of skin over her face and DANCES with her pointlessly for what could be minutes... I was wondering what happened to the REAL Leatherface in that scene--the brutal butcher we were SCARED of in the first film. "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2" is for camp buffs or curiousity seekers only. Even in that case, it might be hard to make it through this movie. Tobe Hooper got stuck in the toilet and never made it back out again.

Summary: Even One Star Is Too Good For This Film
Review: What happened? This film is an embarrassment to the 1974 classic. It's not at all scary, it has way too much gore, the acting is WAY over the top, and its unsuccessfull attempts at black humor make it goofy! Plus, I hated the way Leatherface and Stretch played out as the sentimental King Kong and his damsel in distress. I also kept wondering whatever happened to the family's secluded run down house? Now you could say they're living in luxury even! The annoying DJ Stretch is irritating just standing around screaming and not trying to save herself! And Dennis Hopper's character Enright doesn't help much either as he runs around sawing apart everything around him! I'm sorry Tobe Hooper, but you really blew it on this one.

Review: How can anyone pay money for this piece of absolute [junk]? The acting is so corny, the effects are laughable (sorry Tom Savini) and the plot is so thin it makes the other sequels look like masterpieces. This film still remains banned in several countries due to it's sexually implied violence...i think it's been banned because the censors saw how [junky] this film really is and decided it wasn't worth spending any money on to release it. Buy the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and preferably the special edition and save your money for some real thrilling film making. This is just plain awful.

Summary: The buzz is back for sure!
Review: Tobey Hooper's amazing sequel to the original horror-marathon of terror!! This one is even crazier and alot gorier. Dennis Hopper shows up on the scene of a croaked couple of teenagers, one who got his head sawed-off, in an amazing Tom Savini gore effect that pleases us immediately. Anyway, Hopper is the uncle of Sallie and Franklin from Chainsaw 1. And he's out to stop Leatherface and company! And a DJ named Stretch is along for the ride after the Sawyers attack her in the radio station massacre! This one has an absolutely splendid amount of gore and entertainment! P.S. Watch for Chop-Top's lines in the movie, absolutely memorable!

Summary: After 13 years of silence, the "buzz" is back.
Review: The cannibal caterers are back, and business is booming. This time they've "expanded" out of their roadside barbeque stand and North Texas is all excited over their delicious chili. All except one Lieutenant "Lefty" Enright (Dennis Hopper), a Texas Ranger who's kin to some of the original victims. Since the original crimes we're not "proven", he's getting no help from local law enforcement. He joins forces with his only believer, a deejay named Stretch (Caroline Williams) who inadvertenantly recorded one of their murders. The trail leads to a series of underground catacombs where unspeakable evil takes place. Intense and very violent, but not nearly as exhausting to watch as the original film. The crazed family is played for laughs this time and they don't really come across as frightening. Still a very worthy sequel to it's predecessor, even though this time director Tobe Hooper goes for gross out effects rather than scares. Good cinematography and performances by Hopper and Williams. Beautiful DVD print, the only extra is the theatrical trailer. Followed in 1989 by another sequel, not nearly as good as this one.

Summary: Bad sequel....good horror
Review: This is a GOOD horror film. However... its a BAD sequel. Not half as bad as ones that followed though. This film is pretty scary...but in a complete differnt way than the original... instead of being insane this is more of a bigger budget closterphobic kind of scary. You will however enjoy seeing the original family again...even if having different personalities. Plus... you get to see Franklin's skeleton and hear what happened to Sally from the first film.

Review: First off, let me state that "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is one of my all-time favorite horror films. With that said, let's continue. This is not the DVD you are looking for. I know that is a bold statement, but this is the weakest DVD in my collection. The plot is simple and ugly. A radio DJ is on the phone with two college preps who get murdered while on the Texas Highway. A lawman(Hopper)"Lefty", is out to prove to the world that the "Chainsaw Murders" for the last 10 or so years, are all connected. Lefty convinces the DJ, that if she play's the tape of the kids getting killed, someone might know something. Well, playing the tape on the air only get's herself in trouble with the real murderers. Not to spoil much for you, but the rest is for you to view. While it does display some keen gore FX by none other than Tom Savini, the gore is about all that the film has to offer. Terrible acting by all, except Bill Mosley(Chop Top), the movie drags, and drags, and drags. Now, the DVD it'self. The only bonuses this disc has is the sound is up-graded, and it features the wide-screen option. That's it. Sure, it would have been nice to have seen, maybe, the making of the FX, or even audio-commentary, but, oh no. Not this disc. I have never thought of the movie as anything specail in the first place, but this DVD doesn't help convince me otherwise. This is why I only gave it one star. My advice, as a hardcore horror movie fan: Buy the original "Chainsaw" DVD. Rent "Chainsaw 2" for the VHS, and ask yourself if you really need it that bad for your DVD collection. What was Tobe Hooper thinking?

Review: well..leatherface sure wants to score.lol..14 years after the origional , the texas chainsaw massacre 2 was released , and wasnt nearly as good as the 1st . i really dont have much to say bout this 1 but the movie itself was kinda corney but the humor and kills saved the movie..all i can say is this movie was good enough to buy but i would recomend the vhs cuz this 1 doesnt have all that much goin 4 it..
