Rating: Summary: WHY WHY AND WHY???? Review: Why did they make this film when they knew that it wasn't Jason? No Jason,no point. The weakest of the series.
Rating: Summary: One of the best installments from those that i have seen... Review: This one has a killer, with a hockey mask, but it isn't Jason. Mystery and a couple of suspense moments are in this installment. Why is this better then most of the previous entries? I'll admit, part 1 and Jason X were better but part 5 takes a new route, and the big chasing is very "finale"-ish. The end is creepy, can't wait to see parts 6 and 4 now. Overall, a bad series, but part 5 was actually one of the best to me. it was different. See it, it isn't that scary, but it is very entertaining and you won't believe which character the killer is!
Rating: Summary: Okay Okay Review: I may be an odd ball, but this was scarier than number 4. In my oppinion this kicks part 4s [is great]! See it! See it now! The best in this series is of coarse the first one, but this one is pretty good!
Rating: Summary: The half way mark Review: What's the deal with all these schmucks whining about Jason not being in this movie? So what? He may as well be, it's all the same formula. Remember, he wasn't in the first one either(only his cool cameo). Though I feel the first phase of Jason officially ended with "Final Chapter", this one holds on to that same feel of the previous movies; music, look. Although Jason's not in it, that never really distracted me, because you really can't tell(except for the hockey mask being blue and the films' ending of course). Yes, the killer and his motive are pretty lame(not really any different than Mrs. Voohees' though I guess), and they make no effort whatsoever to keep his identity a mystery. Before the murders, you're practically handed the killer on a silver platter! Also, the Tommy character is the best here than any other in the series, I don't care what anyone says. The director was actually trying for some real character development here. Both this and Part 6 can be looked at as two possible futures for Tommy Jarvis. I like this rather grim view much, much more. Tommy's awfully disturbed, sees creepy hallucinations of Jason, and kicks the snot out of anyone who gets him mad. This was a much cooler Tommy than the jittery weasel in the sixth film. Also, the killer, while not deformed or unstoppable like Jason, is one brutal guy. He's as sadistic if not more than Jason. Up to this point, Part 5 had the highest body count of the series(Jason X has beaten that). Regardless of what you might hear about Jason not being in the film, don't brush it to the side. It's most certainly one of the strongest entries in the series.
Rating: Summary: FRIDAY THE 13TH - A NEW BEGINNING ON A BAD DVD Review: FRIDAY THE 13TH - THE NEW BEGINNING IS AN EXCELLENT FILM BUT THIS ONE IS ALSO IN MONO SOUND & A TRAILER OH HOW I HATE PARAMOUNT DVD THEY NEVER PUT SPECIAL FEATURES OR 5.1 SOUND ON THE FRIDAY THE 13TH FILMS IT'S JUST AWFUL & THE ART COVER LOCKED STUPID TO
Rating: Summary: A New Beginning, A Lousy Middle, and a Terrible Ending. Review: Easily the worst of the Friday the 13th films (and that's saying something), Part V: A NEW BEGINNING fails on all levels. Lousy direction, casting, acting, and screenwriting all amount to 92 miserable minutes for longtime fans and newcomers alike.By this point in the series, fans are hoping for several things: 1) Interesting kills (there are a few - road flares, anyone?); 2) Gore a'plenty (there's hardly any blood to be found); 3) Nudity (OK - here's where this entry stays consistent); 4) Jason (as you can guess from other reviews, he took this one off); and, most importantly 5) Scares (not a single one to be found). Kudos to writers Cohen and Kitrosser for trying to steer the film into a new direction, especially with the last scene, apparently passing the mantle (or mask) to Tommy Jarvis, but any hopes for salvation for this wreck of a film were completely ruined by the previous scene's utterly ridiculous, downright laughable revelation of Joey Burns' family ties to all of the bloodshed. As a DVD this entry fails as well. The picture is grainy, the sound is flat, and Paramount provides its usual big, fat zero in the extras department. All in all, it's an utter dud. But if you've enjoyed the franchise so far, don't let this one stop you. Part VI: JASON LIVES is the polar opposite of this stinker. An all-out fun return to the tried-and-true formula with dismembered tongue firmly in cheek and much higher production values.
Rating: Summary: The Low Point In The Series!!!!! Review: I LIKED THIS MOVIE EVEN THOUGH IT'S CONSIDERED THE WORST OF THEM ALL.NO JASON IS NOT IN HERE BUT IT STILL HAS THE FEELING OF A FRIDAY THE 13TH MOVIE.BUY IT TODAY YOU WON'T REGRET IT.
Rating: Summary: it's the real jason. Review: part 5 a new beginning is not the best f-13 movie made, but it's still entertaining. many peaple say it isnt jason behind the mask, but indeed it is. from what we learned from the final friday is that jason vorhees is an evil curse that can ressurrect it-self in as many bodys that it feels it should to fulfill its task. the only movie that jason wasnt in was f-13 part 1. his mother was the killer in that movie. now on to the dvd, sound & picture looks great but i wish they will release a copy with the original cover picture, you know the hockey-mask with the red glowing in the back ground.
Rating: Summary: "The absolute worst in the entire series..." Review: This is the stupidiest Jason film I have ever seen, I mean, what were they thinking when they decided to make a Jason without Jason?! This movie so ..., and what kind of Friday the 13th is it if it's just a guy that has nothing to do with Jason or Crystal Lake's past. Take my advice and do not buy this filth, I suggest looking at parts 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, and X.
Rating: Summary: Underrated sequel Review: What a cool little movie this is! I can't believe its gotten so much bad press even from so-called horror fans. Just because this movie doesn't contain a live Jason Vorhees doesn't mean that the story isn't good. This is actually part 2 of the Tommy Jarvis story. Tommy is the young boy who killed Jason in the Final Chapter. Here we catch up with him as he's being transported to a home for mentally troubled teens. This movie and the series is now turning into a horror/comedy. THere is plenty of gore and scares here but there are also a lot of laughs thrown in as well! And it works perfectly! There are some funny funny characters in this sequel! There's a mother/son duo of rednecks that is hilarious! There's also a lot of funny scenes between the teens interacting in the home. The mystery here is that after Tommy arrives at the home a whole new rash of murders begins. ANd Tommy suspects that Jason is somehow still alive. The whole Friday series is by far my favorite slasher series. The directors show a lot of imagination and they really seem to care about preserving the series. They do a great job of casting all these fun characters who make this movie really fun for the viewer. This is one of the best and most imaginative Fridays and a great bridge in the series.
