Summary: A good sequel....
Review: Friday the 13th part 3 is a relatively good third entry in this extremely popular series. Part 3 stands out with some very good acting and some great shocks-including one very frightening final confrontation with the masked killer. The plot is nothing terribly original-or even existant-but the characters are a little bit more fleshed out than usual and some of the murders are truly shocking (the sphere in the eye, the pitchfork in the barn and the throat slashing of Shelley). People who follow the series from afar have pointed out that Jason looks terribly different than in the previous film (which took place the previous day). This is entirely untrue. Jason is a little bigger this time out, but he's still a wild child, malformed and creepy to the extreme. Richard (Jason) Brooker played a very underrated Jason, the entire chase at the film's finish is almost worth the price of this DVD alone. Brooker's Jason is part wild child and part methodical assassin, a hunter both brilliant and untamed. Jason is what's lurking in the woods at night when you sleep. He's a creepy character and here in part 3, he's totally effective.Paramount's DVD is pretty well done, the film looks great in its original 2.35:1 widescreen format, the transfer is very nice. Friday the 13th part 3 may be the weakest of the original four, but if you're in the mood for 96 minutes of intense horror and overall slasher fun, grab this disk, it's worth the money.

Summary: The hockey mask is finally on
Review: "Friday the 13th, Part 3" isn't much different than part 2, but it does introduce a new step in the series that wasn't in the first 2 movies. Jason Voorhees finally has the hockey mask, which he is best known for. Some new camp counselors stay at Camp Crystal Lake and think that they have it made, until Jason shows up as the mysterious killer who will kill anybody in site.

The best thing about "Friday the 13th, Part 3" was its new and better special effects. The plot is still pretty much the same, and the killings are just as exciting and well done as ever. This isn't the best movie in the series by far, but it is pretty good. I recommend anybody who likes the Friday the 13th series to get this movie.

Summary: BRILLIANT, BEST OF THE FIRST FOUR
Review: This film is ace. Steve Miner really improved upon his earlier effort in part 2 by making this film in 2.35:1 and in 3D. The DVD is not in 3D, this is no big deal tho.

There are not so many characters in this film. But that gives more time to develope them. My fave is the character of Shelly. He's so cool and I feel so sorry for him. Until I saw this film I never thought any character in the Friday the 13th series would make me like them. Usually they are just idiots spouting cruddy dialogue. I never saw the movies in order by-the-way.

Jason gets his trademark hockey mask here. This is way more scarier and iconic than that pillowcase. Honestly, what was the deal with that. Crystal Lake also seems more tranquil and relaxed here than it did in the other movies. It looks better this way and in widescreen. It's also the only one of the whole lot that generates any kind of atmosphere. Near the end, when the wind picks up, it feels lonely and ghostly. I like that.

The DVD is in utterly terrible mono (why on earth has this been allowed) and is anamorphically enhanced at 2.35:1.

Review: The hockey mask finally took its place as a member of the horror movie society. This movie really was not too good, but it offered some gore and moments of surprise. Seeing Jason at the end looking out the window at the girl was pretty frightening, though. He didn't have the mask on and you could see how funny looking he was. Of course, he still resembled a human. By number 8, he was more like an ugly cartoon character. I recommend this film if you like mindless, but fun teen slashing.

Summary: Best Of Them All!
Review: Ok I know alot of people will disagree but man this was scary!! A reasonably good script, excellent acting and of course plenty of gore. (How about that scene with the biker getting his arm chopped of? Talk about gross!); I have seen all of the "Friday The 13th" movies and this has got to be the best. The FX effects were outstanding especially since it was made in 1982. Jason is soooo much more terrifing in this one than the other 2 before it. Doen't get me wrong I like all the others except maybe the first which was slightly boring. I highly recommend you add this to your horror movie collection!!! Also if your looking for other great scare-fests try out "Scream", "The Excorcist", "Halloween 2", "Urban Legend", "The Blob" or "Hellraiser 4".

Summary: Watch the last 20 minutes and use the rest as a sleep aid.
Review: Everyone gets 2 stars for effort. Make a flick and even if it's bad, you deserve praise. 'taint easy.

I am a big F13 fan. I turned 13 when the first came out, I know a few people from the crew of parts one and two. I have to say that this is one of the lamest of the series. Let's face it, this series trashed itself by resorting to ridiculous storylines and ludicrous plot twists (wait a minute, plot? What plot?)

The best thing about the Friday flicks was Mrs. Voorhees (the most excellent Betsy Palmer) from part 1. A great cat fight finale. Jason was good when he got his butt moving (parts 2, 4 and 7) and showed he wanted to kick.

PART III pretty much bites in all departments. Story? Zero. Camera work? Stagey, but let it go... it was shot for 3-D. Plus the Pan and scan video transfer is pretty bad. Reminds me of the original Jaws transfer. Ugh.

Fx? Cool. But what happened to Jason's hair from the night before in part 2? Did he stop and shave it off? He was butt ugly and scary as hell in part 2. He was still scary in 3, but not as ugly.

Harry Manfredini's music was just re-hashed from part 1 & 2, for the most part. The added stuff was cool, though. I'm a fan of his. Someone give this guy a full scale orchestra to work with!

Anyway, who cares? We went to see it cuz we just had to know what was next in the Jason saga. The chase scen IS pretty good, especially for the 80s.

I remember seeing this flick in theatres in 3-d and it was fun. But, although I was a mere 15, I wanted to know if the writers at Paramount thought all teenagers were likened to jackasses?

GET: PART I - For Betsy's performance and for Kevin Bacon nostalgia. PART II - For Amy Steel's butt kicking women's lib performance and Betsy's cameo. Also, check out LIFE AND DEATH ON THE A LIST. A doc. starring (unfortunately) the dude in the wheelchair. PART III - To dance to the disco theme while folding underwear. PART IV - To see 80s faves Crispin Glover, Peter Barton and Corey Feldman (and, oh, yeh, those doublemint twins). PART V - To see Mama and Junior. PART VI - Hmmm. I guess to see Ron Palillo (Arnold Horshack). PART VII - To see Carrie vs. Jason. And Kevin Blair. Mmm. Hey, Kevin... still go to Video West? PART VIII - DON'T DO IT! THE WORST. PART IX - Uhh. Saw it once and remembered wanting to leave. Good production values and a cast that wanted to. But, again, poor script. Must be getting old.

COMING SOON: JASON X - Friday the 13th 2000. (However, I don't see it listed in the up and coming fall flicks! Wazzup with that?)

Take it easy Friday Fans!

Summary: The Most Amusing Poo I've Ever Seen.
Review: This, the 3rd movie in the seemingly never-ending schlock-filmmaking franchise that is Friday the 13th is the cream of the crop. Yes, it's horrible, but it's of the good variety - like Gleaming The Cube or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3; you can't believe it's as ridiculous as it is. From the inbred hickboy and his momma apparently being "key parts" to the storyline to the little black kid who seems to really like sweatpants. The only thing that would make this complete would be an option on the DVD to watch it in its original "3D" format - including your very own set of glasses for the experience. You'll be set to live in fear from a stick coming "SO CLOSE" to your face, and that hand that "nearly knocked my glasses right off!". Well worth the money, I says. And long live Black Lightning!

Summary: better than part 2, but still.....
Review: "friday the 13th part 3" was a better movie than part 2 was, but that still doesn't say much at all. this film will be always remembered as the first film in which jason gets his infamous hockey mask, his trademark. but that's about all this film has that's worth remembering. as a die hard fan of the series (i own them all) i honestly can say that i can watch this one without complaining about how awful the acting was, or the script, or the direction, or anything for that matter. friday 3 was a decent enough of an entry in the fact that it makes the second one look like complete garbage (which it was) but it still doesn't reach the genious of the original. by now we all know that jason is the killer and the only suspense (if any) that's left is the question of who will get it next and how will it be given to them? and one can't help but wonder what the eventual climax will bring. Jason's death (if that's even possible)? not in this one (or any other for that matter), no this one has jason getting hanged and his neck supposedly breaking and even getting a machete to the head, but that's still not enough to do it. friday 3 should've been part 2 and part 2 should've simply been thrown away. all friday 3 is is part 2 except jason has the mask...that's about it. part 4 is much better.

Summary: the start of an era
Review: i give this movie five stars because it starts an era of fear to the man they call JASON a man who terrorises camp counselors (and anyone who gets in his way) for letting him drown as a boy in the lake. whats really great is noone ever finds out how or when this demon came back to life it is all a complete mystery whhich just adds to the what will he do next factor. this movie also brought back the great sequel never in the horror industry have we seen such a great sequel which led to other great sequels eight of them to be exact. noone has ever lived that long in a line of sequels not freddy not micheal nobody not only that this creature has another movie in the works and if you miss out on this great movie you will never know how why when or where this all started find out why people cower at the sound of chchchchc hahahaha why people cringe at the mere mention of the name JASON if you dont see this one you cant watch the others that would just be blasphemy

Summary: Good bye sack, hello hockey mask!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: This is a great 5 star movie. Jason gets his first hockey mask in this one. The ONLY bad thing about this movie is it was supposed to be in 3-D but it's not in this. That means objects keep flying at you. It's sort of dumb. If your a Jason fan get it. If you have a DVD player pre-order the DVD version. It's NON 3-D which then makes it a perfect movie. The DVD also has much better quality.
