Summary: Awesome Remake of TCM
Review: When I heard they were making a remake of TCM, I automatically thought that it would never be a force like the original. I actually thought it would absolutely suck. After seeing this movie, I can honestly say it lives up to the original in every single way. Actually, this new version is more sick, perverted, and sadistic than the original. This movie lives up to the TCM name well. TCM 2003 is a great, well made movie that ranks up there right by its older counterpart as one of the most sadistic and terrifying movies ever made.

Summary: Horror gone too far
Review: I decided to experiment with different genres of movies and I decided to venture into this movie. I understand that horror is about scaring you out of your wits, but seeing gore and arms flying everywhere is not the kind of scared I want to be. I want to be scared by the mind games that the director weaves into the story. It does not take much talent on the director's part to throw in as much gore as they can to get the rating of R. This story would have been much more effective if people could have left the movie and said, "That was really scary, although I didn't think it had to be rated R." I understand that this is the DVD, but I believe that the majority of the horror films coming from this day and age are usually filled more with gore than with chilling ideas that freak one's mind out. Overall, I think this remake was an uninspired move that used gore rather than ideas to scare. Not very good.

Summary: One of the best horror movies since the original
Review: Although it is a remake, it clearly shows that not ALL remakes sucks. I was a big fan of the original, and a big fan of cult-b horror movies such as THE EVIL DEAD, and when I first heard of this remake, I rolled my eyes and thought.... "uh oh... please not another remake"..Well, fortunately, it turned out that my assumption was just hollywood stereotype. This movie had people leaving the theatres and screaming.... quite a few were even crying..... it's been a while since I've seen a movie do this people. And it's not your 90's teen-horror flick protege, either.(...) No boobs, no freak on a college campus running around with a goofy ginsu knife.(...) Its more about the dark and grim nature of what nobody expects to ever happen just driving down the road.... something completely insane and unthinkable, the sickest acts of a demented nature. The audio, the storyline and the screenplay had enough to fuel a good horror movie alone, even without leatherface. And, suprisingly, the acting was brilliant. Where as the original gave you the chills using schizophrenia and twisted perception, the remake scares using a dark deception with a cruel abomination. The original was great, and still is one of the best, and so is the remake..... and the special edition DVD is well worth the extra footage.

Summary: He Came, He Saw, He Massacred
Review: I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I never really liked the original 'Texas' movie. Nor did I ever think much about the character of Leatherface. My views haven't changed much, but I sure do like this "re-imagining" as they call it. I was very surprised. Re-makes are tricky things, and this one caused quite a stir. Not like "Psycho" though. And I think it was for the better. Some people obviously didn't understand that this was not a re-make, which is why certain aspects and characters are not here. They will also wrongly compare this to the original when there is no reason to do so. Except to complain and berate which was probably their only purpose to begin with. We begin with some old news footage, narrated by John Larroquette, who narrated the original, detailing the events that happened. Then we go right into the story from the beginning. Five friends traveling to Dallas on August 20, 1973, to attend a Lynyrd Skynryd concert. They pick up a scary looking female hitchhiker and things go from bad to worse. After a pretty solid moment in those few minutes, the kids get sidetracked to Nowheresville, USA, where they encounter a sadistic sheriff(the teriffic R. Lee Ermey), and a guy with a serious skin fetish, Leatherface. The kids then go through the regular horror movie M.O. as they try to run, hide, and stay alive. The movie is beautifully photographed and has that right kind of grim look. Director Marcus Nispel has a sharp eye and makes every scene, action oriented or establishing, stand on it's own. It is very well done. The acting is surprisingly strong. Jessica Biel is a welcome addition to the "Scream Queen" club. She did a really good job of being the frightened "good girl" and heroine. She was a WB star, and will get slammed just for that reason alone, as pitiful as it is, but she did a decent job. The camera really loved her outfit as well. The best of the bunch was R. Lee Ermey. He was imposing, creepy, and you couldn't keep your eyes off him. He is an actor who always demands attention no matter what, and his job here is definitley no exception. There was no humor, nothing soft. It was serious and hardcore. Rob Zombie, this is how you make a return to "roots" horror. Leatherface himself was a big, meandering neanderthal of a killing machine, and he had a real strong presence. The new mask looked great as well. The kills were brutal and horiffic and uneasy. There weren't many, but with a film that was interesting without the kills, it hardly mattered. The last 25 minutes or so were a roller coaster ride. Big chases and pretty exciting. While I love horror of all kinds, it was nice to see a horror film that was dark and deadly and not soft at all. If this is how the writer of this film did with it, I can't wait to see how he and Michael Bay(the producer) do the upcoming re-make of "The Amityville Horror". This was a solid horror film, and it just might give re-makes a good name.

Review: This movie is probably 10x better than the original.It's about 5 friends who are on a trip to a concert and they pick up a girl who's acting really strange and crying.they ask her what's wrong and she's says they're all dead.she trys to stop them from going into a small town. she shows her bloody legs and shoots herself.they go on a trip to find help and find a maniac with a chainsaw and him and his family kill them one by one.i would suggest this movie to anyone.

Review: If you like part 2,3,4 you will probably like this.The movie looks great,has awsome sound and has some cool moments.It has alot of gore,the original didnt and was a hell of a lot more creepy and scary,oh well.The movie drags for the first 50 mins with a billion chances for the idiots to leave. This movie gets annoying when they scream for help,then when they get it,they sit there and say nothing about the madman with a human skin mask and chainsaw! Bonus points for getting john laroquette for voice over.

Review: I don't know what she was expecting, a romantic comeday a la Meg Ryan? This movie was supposed to be GRUESOME, SCARY, BLOODY. 5 stars for that alone. This movie PROVES that not all remakes suck.

Summary: Better Than Expected
Review: First off, I'll start by saying that I thought the original was one of the greatest exploitation horror movies ever made so I wasn't really expecting much going in, except for possibly Jessica Biel looking good, especially in light of the stupid teenage crap that passes for horror movies these days (e.g., Cabin Fever). Boy was I surprised! This movie kicks ass and takes no prisoners! Roger Ebert railed against this movie and said he hated it and that it was no fun to watch and was disgusting. I was surprised that in this day and age that a movie would be made like this in America (Let's not count Japan, Italy, Hong Kong, and other places where they really know how to make intense horror movies!). This one wasn't toned down for the kiddies and, especially rare these days in America, didn't play scenes for laughs. People were killed violently in this movie and the special effects, blood, etc. were very good. The acting was better than in the original and, in some ways, so was the creepiness, terror, insanity, and sickness factors. And yes, Jessica looks hot in the tight t-shirt. I would definitely buy the 2-disc version of this DVD for the Ed Gein documentary, whose real-life exploits were sicker than any movie, and the making of special, etc.
