Rating: Summary: Gorgeous transfer for a cult classic. Review: This transfer is incredible (1:66 ratio)!! It looks like it was filmed last year. The sound is available in either the original mono or a newly remixed stereo surround track. There is also commentary with, among others, Gunnar Hansen (Leatherface). Add to that the deleted scenes, blooper reel, and trailers to ALL of the sequels and you've got a fantastic disc at a very reasonable price!!
Rating: Summary: A horror masterpiece... Review: I'm no big fan of horror movies, probably because I saw this movie when I was about 11 or 12 years old. To tell you the truth, I couldn't even go alone to the bathroom because Iwas scared to death. But the scariest part of all this is that this is based on real life stuff. Anyway, this movie is great and if you like history, horror movies, and raw homor, go for this lil'piece of art...
Rating: Summary: ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING!!! Review: The first time I watched this was only less than a year ago. I always avoided it, due to its reputation and its explicit title. I have always been fascinated with scary/horror films, but when I finally rented this one and watched it (alone) I was sitting on the edge of my sofa the whole time. This blows away ANY other horror film, not due to its gore content (there is actually not much gore), but rather the sheer psychological terror surrounding the whole film. This movie is so scary, it's unbelievable. The hitchhiker is the craziest guy you will ever see in a horror film. Seeing the terror in the girl's eyes at the dinning table was shocking. I felt like I was living her nightmare. I didn't know how the movie was going to end. The ending is fantastic, though. The movie was too disturbing to me to want to ever watch it again, but it is the scariest film out there mainly because of the realism of the whole thing. I don't think I will ever forget this movie. I didn't eat meat for more than a month afterwards. I didn't give it the highest rating due to the fact that I didn't enjoy the subject matter of this movie, but the movie is extremely powerful in its effect. Horror fans have to see it at least once. It can definitely stand the test of time and the directing is fantastic. In all, horrifying and unforgettable!!!
Rating: Summary: THE BEST MOVIE EVER MADE! Review: I think that TCM is the best horror cult classic ever made. It is based on a true story which makes it even better. I love how they make their decorations in their house with human bones and skin. It is pretty kool. I love Leatherface and his chainsaw. It is all prettty damned kool! I am 14 yrs. old and I first seen this movie at 5yrs. old and I watch it at least 1-2 times a month b/c I just can't get enough of Leatherface! If I could I would give this film 100 stars! If you are a TCM fan,e-mail me!
Rating: Summary: Violent , Bloody, controversial,Excellent. Review: If there was one film of the seventies that caught the publics eye it was THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. The movie came to us in 1974 but is still sadly banned in Britain. I loved seeing that creature known as LEATHER FACE dance in anger at the end of the film and the scene where they sit at the dinner table ready to kill the heroine Sally. Although it takes 30 minutes for the first person to be brutally slaughtered, I still enjoyed this macabre movie. But it has been nearly 25 years since it was made I think all countries should have the choice to witness this horror classic, it should be re- released and not banned. Not as gory as reputed to be, THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE is violent, bloody, controversial and excellent.
Rating: Summary: NIGHTMARES FOR EVER! Review: Truly the best horror movie ever. First saw it in 1974, all by myself. Was so afraid that i didn't dare to go home alone. The movie is like watching a CNN live broadcast. One keeps thinking :why don't they go for the camera man? It has given me nightmares for over 20 years now, so I definelitely try not to think of it when going to bed.
Rating: Summary: Chainsaw looks better and better each year Review: When I first saw this film, I was so entertained by watching the hitchiker. He has got to be the most weirdest and bizarre characters I have ever seen in a film. I have seen Chainsaw probably atleast 30 times and it never gets old. The last scene in the movie is truly a masterpiece in American cinema. Never judge Chainsaw by the title, you will love the characters and the film.
Rating: Summary: One of the best films ever!!! Review: Texas chain saw massacre is one of the best films I've ever seen, so dark and mellon-collie, the constant feeling of hate and depression makes it highly successful and there is more than just blood'n'guts in this film, so much more.......
Rating: Summary: Kept me from sleeping! Review: I saw this when I was twelve or thirteen--I'm fourteen now--and it scared the hell out of me! I was terrified when the narration came on! I was horrified throughout the whole thing, and the climax had to be one of the greatest ever. the movie is practically based around the climax. It is made to be one big terrifying scene. Sally is an amazing heroine. She had a great scream, a mix of terror and growing insanity. I cheered for her the whole time. She make you want her to live. If you aren't a desensitized weirdo, you realize all the terror she goes through to survive, and to have her laugh in Leatherface's face as she rides away in the back of the pickup truck at the end was truly gratifying. (Wouldn't you love to see what happens when Leatherface goes back to his house?) I truly enjoyed Sally's performance in the house, especially at the dining room table. Tobe Hooper showed her fall off the brink of insanity very well, and I just thought she was the horror heroine to go through the most of all horror movies. This movie is amazing!
Rating: Summary: This is the GREATEST horror movie of all time-PERIOD ! Review: This is the only, and I mean ONLY horror movie that has horrified me again and again and I have seen it several times. Of course, the first time was the most horrifying because I didn't know what to expect, and looking back on it now I wished I had expected the worst, but man what a ride!-If TCM was a roller-coaster no one in his right mind would pay to get on the damn thing ! But hey, this is just a great movie with a great script, great directing , great cinematography and a great cast that came together in August, 1973 to create the GREATEST horror movie of all time-PERIOD ! So just sit back and enjoy this cinematic roller-coaster, and if somewhere along the way you decide it would be in your best interest to JUMP OFF than stay aboard for the duration- "C'mon you big WIMP, it's just a movie!"
