Rating: Summary: The one your mother warned you about! Review: 1974's Texas Chainsaw Massacre is #2 on my "Top 10 Horror Movies" list. When Leatherface slams that metal sliding door, it sends chills up & down my spine just like it did the first time I saw it over 25 years ago. Low on blood & gore, but high on scary atmosphere, Tobe Hooper's horror masterpiece is a must see for any horror movie fan. From the opening scene of dug up bodies at the cemetery, to the conclusion of Leatherface wildly swinging his saw at the end, this is THE horror movie to end them all!! And forget the 2003 remake, this is the one, the only, the original...
Rating: Summary: Very good horror movie, but dont judge a movie by its review Review: If you've seen movies like Evil Dead, Exorcist, Night of the Living Dead, and Candyman, then you should be able to stomach this movie. I say don't judge a movie by its review, because so far in every review I've read, people say it's one of the scariest movies of all time, or its extremely scary. Wrong. This movie is not scary at all. It might be disturbing, and twisted, but not scary. I often times found myself laughing at the strange noises Leatherface makes when he runs, and the dad getting mad at Leatherface and his brother. But, thats not to say that TCM is a great, classic horror movie. The movie is about a group of teenagers that set out to find a graveyard, thats been having grave robbings problems. Two of them are also looking for their old house that they grew up in. On the way, they pick up a hitchhiker who is a real nutcase. The problem with the hitchhiker causes them to run out of gas and go to a gas station to find out that the station is out of gas. After that, they go to find the old Franklin house, and thats when all the horror, and torcher that Leatherface brings begins. The movie is loosely, and I mean loosely based on the life of serial killer Ed Gein. The furniture made from human and animal bones and dead skin on Leatherface's face is all from the life of Ed Gein. Everything else is false. While your watching it, you kinda feel sorry for the teenagers as they get slaughtered. Their lives so short and the fact their getting torchered and murdered for no reason, but for food for a cannibalistic family. Overall, Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a very well done, classic horror movie, thats great to watch with a group of friends on a friday night or somethin when your parents arent around. It's good fun hororr. The gore level is surprisingly low. I thought it was going to be huge, but after seeing the first murder, you get the hint that this movie isnt that bad.
Rating: Summary: ROCKS!!!! Review: Man, this was one of the first horror films and still one of the best! Halloween one and two and Friday the 13th the final chapter was better than this but besides that this is the king! A bunch of kids are going to Texas but when they pick up a hitchhecker, the hitchhicker tricks them into running out of gas and going into the woods, were they are killed by a faceless killer named LeatherFace. LeatherFace kills them all except for Sally, who exsacpes but finds out that the Hitchhicker is LeatherFace's brother and he was trying to get LeatherFace some food. After LeatherFace has dinner, he chases after Sally. leatherFace's brother dies and Sally escapes out of Texas, and LeatherFace gets very angery. Thats the story of the film. Sounds cool doesn't it? I recomend getting the version with the chainsaw and blackness around it because the sepcial fetares are cool.
Rating: Summary: Most Shocking Film Of This Or Any Generation Review: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is single handedly the most horrific and disturbing film ever made. Tobe Hooper takes horror to a whole new level. He doesn't use sudden music burst or flashly lighting to scare the audiance, he uses truth. This is one of the best movies ever made and is a must see for anyone who wants to witness a strong horror movie. And for all you people writing reviews saying the acting and film quality were poor, think about the budget Hooper had to work with, and the true plot of the story. This is a must buy for any horror fan.
Rating: Summary: a truly disturbing horror film Review: "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"(1974) is one of the most effective and skillful horror films ever made. While I would say Alfred Hitchcock was the master; this film comes close. It is far better than all its other contemporaries, which just depended on buckets of blood and gore and the boogey man jumping out of the closet to scare people. It was a blessing that Tobe Hooper had a low budget to work with on this film because he couldn't depend on special effects to scare the audience with. The film is filmed in a documentary-style with grainy quality film, which makes the film obviously more realistic. The killers in the film are not from hell or supernatural, but a real family of cannibals and based loosely on real events. This element makes the film more creepy than say "A Nightmare on Elm Street." The scenes where the killers actually kidnap the main character are VERY disturbing, and yet little blood or gore(compared to today's standards) were used. Tobe Hooper relies entirely on shocking the audience on a more human level. "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is one of the best horror films ever made and probably the best of the 70's.

I give this movie 5 stars because it has everything a horror movie could ever want and more. 1. A horrific plot of gore and cannibalism. 2. Psychos, a whole family of them. 3. The fact that it is inspired by a true story makes it even more scary. 4. Lots of gore, gutting, eating, gnawing, severing, slaughtering, face removal. It's got it all. Rating: Summary: True Horror Review: If your looking for one of the greatest horror movies of all time then look no further. This movie is classic thats loosely based on one of the greatest serial killers of all time, Ed Gein. This is the movie that gave Gunnar a cult following for his role as the greatest slasher ever, Leather Face. Unlike a lot of other horror movies this movie does not have much, if any humor in it. So if your looken for another Evil Dead... go to Dead Alive... but if your looken for straight up horror and quite possibly the scariest movie of all time then this is your movie. Great story and great antagonists... this movie will have you on the edge of your seat and wanting more... Tobe Hooper did an excellent job with this (speaking of which... the one and only Glenn Danzig is in negotiations with Hooper to be in his next movie and to do the soundtrack... Can't wait for that one) and this rightfully earns its cult following... Spawned a bunch of inferior but mediocre sequels that are fun to check out but nothing compared to this. Quite possibly the sickest, most demented American film... (Euro and Japan have much sicker though) strangely enough Tobe was shooting for a PG rating with this movie...
