Summary: Well Done - But can you honestly ENJOY something like this?
Review: This movie has a long history of controversey and a wide range of opinions. It is VERY original and VERY scary, but something just never seems right. You walk away from it glad that you were able to walk away from it. It is such an experience to have to endure that you feel emotionally (as well as physically) exhausted. It is really too much to have to handle while trying to enjoy yourself at a movie. It is a must see for horror fans and film buffs alike, but I don't recommend it at all. It is cruel, vile, messy and disturbing; all too effectively. Nothing is light in the approach of this movie. If you are not easily repulsed, see it. If you have a serious problem with heinous violence, steer clear. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for bloody, horror flicks. I just found it tried to hard to shock, and that took away enjoyability.

Summary: Its a oldie but a goodie
Review: The first and very scary look at a dementet psycho family but for the younger generation it is slow and borring until the ending but still a cult classic.

Summary: A Disturbing Classic
Review: That this movie is (SUPPOSEDLY) based on actual events makes this an even more disturbing tale that if it had been totally made up. No special effects or paranormal phenomena are needed for the brutal and violent demise of the group of teens. Leatherface, aptly named for his love of wearing human flesh like masks, is one of the most demented horror characters of all time - Jason and Michael Myers have nothing on him! This scary classic will give you the creeps - and it does it so well!

Summary: The Brady Bunch from hell!
Review: As I sad, this movie has the Brady bunch from hell. Some really devious beings. Well, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. What a movie. This one can get to ya sometimes. It really is a frightening movie. I mean the whole photography is really gritty and it perhaps has an even stronger effect sometimes now, due to the fact it's old gritty picture continues to look more and more wicked and it will continue forever, because picture qualities will never decrease in film. Rather continue rich, clean pictures. Oh! Maybe not forever, according to some Religious people this is our last year on Earth. Well I'll be darned.

Summary: A contemporary classic
Review: I treasure this DVD as one of the favorites in my collection. It is a marvel in that while other movies went for lots and lots of gore, this movie has a gritty realism not found in releases today. The kill count is not very high, and the video quality, although greatly improved for this release, is pretty bad, but these things seem to add to the suspense. The extras, including deleted scenes also are awesome. A must buy for anyone whos dares to call themselves a horror fan.

Summary: It's no Scream. . .
Review: At the begining of this movie, the narrator reveals that everyone is going to get killed. This makes the story less suspenseful. Maybe the idea was to create a sort of Greek tragedy where we feel bad because we already know that everyone is doomed. Unfortunately, these characters aren't all that interesting. This isn't the sort of slasher movie where you get upset because you see nice kids getting slaughtered. Nor,for that matter, is it the sort where you can't help feeling happy that obnoxious kids are being slaughtered. The protagonists of this movie are neither sweet nor obnoxious. They're just warm bodies. This is particularly true of Sally and her invalid brother Franklin. The movie tells us nothing about their relationship. What saves this movie is the ending where Sally is the last one alive. The narrator doesn't prepare us for the long ordeal that she will go through and it was definitely more bizarre then I expected. This movie is no "Scream" but it's worth a look.

Summary: one of the best
Review: This is one of the best movies of the horror genre. It is scary, gory and fast paced. Although it has received a bad rap over the years as being distgusting and ugly it isn't anywhere as bad as some people say.

Summary: Make-Up And Murder
Review: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre starts promisingly enough with terror being built up well. The initial murders are also shocking. However as the films wears on it becomes a little farsical. Leatherface runs around wearing make-up for some unknown reason and his green Grandad tries to wield a hammer. It's not bad...but it's not very good either.

Summary: Creepy Man Creepy
Review: Talk all you want about the blair witch project. If you are looking for a really scary movie this is it. Although shot in 1974 which seems like a million years ago the film is still very disturbing. This was my first viewing in nearly 15 years and it was a hell of a lot better than I remembered. No CGI no special effects no cheap thrills This movie is an all out assault on your senses and well worth it. The Dvd has some great extras definatly worth buying. For fans only

Summary: Dedicated to making me soil my pants!
Review: I've just watched this for the first time. I'm gonna watch it again with my mates cos this film has it all. Dumb big-breasted women, blokes with dodgy haircuts and a guy stuck in a wheelchair who you knows gonna get killed big-time. Guess what, he does!

The film starts straight away! In other words, in the first two minutes you've already seen the most horrific piece of modern art you're ever going to see. By this I mean there's a dug up decaying corpse pinned to a monument in the graveyard. It's gross, but also a brilliant piece of movie-making, trust-me!

Then, nothing happens for about twenty whole minutes until the group of teenagers with big-breasts and dodgy haircuts topped off with dodgy flares pick up a hitch-hiker. Straight away you know he's nuts but hey, you might be wrong, or so you thought. You soon know otherwise, I don't know why but I think you might guess it when he starts mutilating himself in the van. Not content with that, he decides to cut open the guy in the wheelchair. Obviously they chuck him out the van but not before he does his very own impression of a Scottish football match and starts headbutting the van as it drives away. Stupid, but very funny and somehow very un-nerving.

That's the start of the movie dealt with. I'm not going to spoil the rest except to say one thing. The whole ten minute chase scene is the most scariest thing on tape I've ever seen. Imagine it, you've just seen your brother get run through by a chainsaw. The culprit looks at you through a leather face mask, his eyes sparkle. You think to yourself at that split-second, he looks familiar, then you wave it away. I mean, how could you best-mate look like Leatherface? However, you know what he's got on his mind and that's carving you up as well as your brother and then serving you as the main course at Thanksgiving. This is the most un-nerving and unsettling ten minutes of film I've ever seen. I was genuinely scared.

The funniest part of the movie. When Leatherface trips up and the chainsaw lands on his leg and starts cutting into it. Brilliant light relief at the end of the movie. Another funny part, Leatherface doing a jig while swinging the chainsaw round his head.

Most un-nerving part. The woman is running away as one of the brothers follow behind slashing violently at her back with a switchblade. Very sick!

Overall, this is genuinely the scariest movie I've ever seen. I've never been this scared since I was a kid and watched Nightmare on Elm Street for the first time. If you like horrors, buy this! It's a must-see movie!
