Summary: More of a Sequel Than a Remake
Review: Ok, so maybe it is not the most faithful of remakes to date...but it does have many redeeming qualities for horror fans. The film starts in similar fashion to the origianl 1970's cult classic- i.e. five young people traveling thorugh the texas countryside, picking up a hitchhiker, and encountering a clan of bizarre and murderous characters. There are, however, marked differences from the original. Some minor plot and character variations offer a slightly altered twist to the original storyline.
Of note is the fine acting of the cast, which includes such Jessica Biel, R. Lee Ermey, and Eric Balfour. Also of interest is the successful use of dark and twisted sets in the film, holding true to the Texas Chainsaw legacy. (You also get a glimpse of Leatherface beneath the crude flesh-mask, which may or may not have been a wise decision by the writers!)
All in all. I give this film 4 stars, and recommend giving it a look, despite the reviews from many critics.

Summary: Excellent Movie
Review: Despite what some critics might say, I have found this movie to be one of the best horror movies in recent memory. It provided enough of a back story to make the subsequent horror plausible. Jessica Biel wonderfully portrayed her character; her fear was tangible throughout the entire movie. While there were many "jump" scenes the movie was scary primarily because this could happen. Loosely based on the story of serial killer Ed Gien (and I mean LOOSELY), The Texas Chainsaw massacre is scary and realistic, two factors which make this an excellent movie.

Summary: This is VERY loosely based on a true story
Review: To the people who think Eddie Gein was running around in a mask of someones face with a chainsaw killing people in real life are very wrong in their thinking. The only similarities are the fact that he did make masks out of peoples faces and wear occasionaly, he did live in a old farmhouse (in Wisconsin), and he did have dead people strewn about his house and he did make a few things out of bone. Ed Gein was very unlike any of the characters actually shown in the movie. As far as the creators saying it is based on a true story, they should play that down a little, or atleast thats just my own opinion.

But, besides that, I felt the remake was an exceptional movie. It was kind of hard to pay attention though at times because the girls next to me were constantly screaming. Its also a lot different then the original, and I do mean A LOT different. I really didnt care for any of the bad guys besides Leatherface in this one, they just didnt have the same aura about them as the bad guys in the first one.

It had some parts that were really cool, but you kind of knew they were coming. It was worth the price of admission though so I suggest everyone who wants to see it defintely should.

Summary: Phyco world vs. Reality
Review: SCARY!!! I am a true movie goer. I watch a flick at least once a week. So my word is bond...now i love scary movies and i never get what i want. A movie that will scare me so good i have to hold the guy next to me that is holding his girlfriend who is holding her girlfriend which in turn. gets me real scared (...).This movie delivers. You have to put yourself in the girls shoes and let her take you on a scary roller coaster ride. I say roller coaster ride because i can usally predict a scary movie..just like the rest of us that passed grade 2, and i could not predict this movie.Even though i seen the first one and loved it, i could not tell what was going to happen next in this movie.(...)and i didn't want to miss a thing.I say this movie is worth the bucks and you must take your girl (or 2) to go see it. MUST SEE FLICK

Summary: I know the name of the song in the trailor...
Review: The name of the song in the trailor is called 'Song of the Siren' (or 'to the Siren'). It is by a band called 'The Mortal Coil'. Apparently the women who sings it used to be or is in the Cocteau Twins. If anyone recalls, it was on a older commercial for the perfume 'Noa'. I have it on a CD somewhere. It suprised me to hear this song on this trailor, but it fits, it makes my skin crawl.
Anywho, I just saw the movie last night with my husband (who is a big fan of the original movie). I haven't seen the original movie in it's entirity, but I have to admit, this remake really is an improvement. The original seemed to have more of a documentary feel to it and there are very noticeable difference in the remake. That is strange considering Tobe Hooper (the director of the original) co-produced the remake. Maybe this was the movie he REALLY wanted to make in the beginning, but just didn't have the resources. I think he also helped as a screenwriter on the remake.
This movie is very eerie. I actually think I screamed once or twice. My husband says I didn't see much cause my face was buried in my sweater. I saw enough.
basically if you are fan of the original, you will be a fan of the remake.
p.s. here's a link to the cd .........

Summary: Hope It's a Trend
Review: This film is very creepy, and not all that gory for a slasher film. Other than one truly shocking incident, there's no blood at all until halfway through the film. Most of the screentime is just plain creepy in a very effective, Blair Witch sort of way. Highly entertaining, much more than I expected. I would even go so far as to say it's better than the original.

In the original, it was difficult to care much about the characters, but in this version, the people much more appealing. I credit this mostly to the actors, rather than to the writers or the director.

The only detraction is that since Jessica Biel is the one "name" in the film, you know from the beginning that she-- well, so not to give anything away, let's just say she gets the most screentime. Recommended.

Summary: Good Job!
Review: Not only one of the best remakes...a good horror movie all around. A little different from the first. There isn't the disgusting brother in a wheelchair. They had advertised that it would be blairwitch-ish. It was not. It had gore. Didn't bother me, but I remember them trying to say that it "is less gory than the original." Almost completely void of stupid horror movie cliches. Go see it.

Summary: D@MN THAT WAS FREAKY!
Review: I must admit, I was highly skeptical of this movie, as I have never been scared by a so called scary movie, but...THIS WAS TERRIFYING...If you want to be scared, go see this movie. I was shaking in my seat, and I may have nightmares tonight!

Summary: Remake Of Texas Chainsaw
Review: The truth is Hollywood can't make a good horror movie. Like in the 80's there were better. When I saw this remake I was dissapointed. This movie wasn't even scary, it had no good charachters and the music was weak it had no horror music. I've
watched the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre a dozen of times because it had good actorz and it explained better about the
Cannibal family and the music was scary also the plot was better.
Hollywood, instead of making remakes. make a good original horror
movie.But they can't

Summary: a new level
Review: there are many people who would say that the first movie was a masterpiece and others that would find it a piece of trash. The later should not waste their time watching this film. The followers of the first should prepare themselves for this version because it simply takes Tobe Hooper's goals for the story and elevates it to another level. This picture is well directed and has a few different takes on the story, characters, and tone, but the basic story and theme remain the same. This film just deals with the notion of how insane a person can become and how much madness and macabre can that cause. This film, realizing what fans have seen and expected from the original, elevates the madness...making the atmosphere darker, the deaths more horrible and bitter, leatherface is more sinister looking and more channeled and the family is more twisted than the original. The movie does have some good scares in it, but it is just meant to tell the story of a family that is purely engrossed in madness and the interaction that a few people had with them. This film sets out to do something that is not easy, and that is to expose, isolate, and focus on the small part of us that wonders how dark can humanity become? I left the theatre feeling disturbed from this picture. It did its job.
