Summary: Texas Chainsaw Blood-fest
Review: Okay, the whole point of the original T.C.M. was to create a terrifying movie with a low budget and no blood. Tobe did it. He did a fantastic job. The original T.C.M. is excellent. This new one is so terrible, that it falls just short of a teen-slasher flick. The only reason why it doesn't is because it involves characters that were once original (where's the hitchhiker?) and the story was original once. People who made T.C.M. 2003, you suck. People who liked it, you don't deserve it.

Summary: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Reveiw By: Jessie B.
Review: There was no stopping Tobe Hopper when it came down to making yet the 8th installmment of the 1979 "Texas Chaninsaw Massacre," but the qeustion was--who whould be the one to direct it? After repetivly searching for almost a year, in the late summer (unbelivebly on AUGUST 18, 2002) Tobe had found his man-Marcus Nispel. The story is so different from the original but it gave the veiwers time to strech out "character development."
"I wanted to bring out the good and bad quitlites that Morgan, Andy, Kemper, Pepper, and Erin had, than from the original 1979 one where they just jumped right into killing them--then of coarse they had the unrealistic features which made the orginal seem a bit jajun." Marcus told me once before he casted Eric Balfour as the part of Kemper. I give the movie 5 stars because it scared me just seeing myself on screen like that--even though i wasn't scared of Leatherface @ all while we were filming!

Summary: SCARRIEST MOVIE IN YEARS!!
Review: Do you ever sit at home, and get the feeling that someone is watching you? Well if not then try to imagine being watched by a crazed physco killer with a chainsaw while wondering around an old farm in texas. Texas chainsaw massacre is a unbelievalby horrifying film, it gets your attention right from the beginning when 5 pot smoking friends are on their way to a concert, but notice a woman walking along the roadside in texas. The group decides to pick up the battered woman, but they soon realize it may cost them their lives. This present day version of the movie knocks the socks off the pathetic 1970's version and makes other horror flicks like the 6th sense look like an episode of barney. If your looking for gore, horror, and sleepless nights, then this movie is perfect for you. I saw it in the theatre's with my girlfriend and we both couldn't sleep for nights!! Two Thumbs up!

Summary: The Best Remake Ever
Review: I personally think that this is the best remake of a movie ever. This movie definitly hits as one the top best. I loved this movie 30 years ago and I think that an update to it is even better. I will in fact buy this movie the day that it comes out,and will recommend it to others that haven't yet seen this movie. This is one of the best ... movies I have ever seen.

Summary: Please
Review: Ill admit, that i enjoy some of the horror movies that they make today, but still, they shouldn't be called horror movies. They should be called teen movies. I was told that in this movie they were singing to Lynard Skynard to get the 70s feeling right. Well you know what, when you have a band like Skynard in a movie, people are gonna go "skynard, sweet" not, "Im scared out of my minds". Adding dumb stuff like that makes the movie, what kids now a days think is cool, not scary. Come on, you get scared pretty easily if you think someone dying to Sweet Home Alabama is scary. And the whole comming back from sring break with pot, another dumb move. It's to make the audience say "Cool, pot, these kids are cool", not to scare them. The first one is so much better, and screw those people who say its not because it doesn't have great special effects or cool tunes, because thats not what horror movies are about. Horror movies about Suspence, Noices like bones breaking, sharb objects going through someones butt and Naked chicks. God, whoever says this is better the the first doesn't know anything about horror, the director of this one doesn't even believe in gore(Fact).

Summary: From a long time Texas Chainsaw Fan
Review: I'll keep this short and simple because if you want an in depth review there are plenty here. From the words of a LONG time fan of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (and I DO mean the original) this film is AWESOME. This film is in no way intended to be a "remake" of the original. I think some people are confused. While this does follow the SAME path as the original film, I would not consider this a replica (remake). The 2003 film is loosely based off the original. If you watch it with this in mind, I think you will enjoy it. No real fan of this genre can dislike this film, it is a wonderful horror flic and I highly recommend it. My pre order is IN! Cheers!

Summary: Depressing as hell. About as fun as a funeral.
Review: The "meathook" scene is a metaphor for the whole ghastly enterprise: it goes on waaaay too long, and as if the severed limb isnt enough, the victim must have salt poured into his wounds.

There is no fun or excitement to be found here (and no, I dont think the original is the Hope Diamond of horror films either, but at least it has a sense of humor). It's unrelentingly mean-spirited, without being spooky or, for that matter, even particularly scary. In the theater, it was an absolute ordeal to sit through. I love horror movies and I was just sad and bummed out after seeing this.

However...major points for the scene where she seeks "help" at the trailer. The movie pauses a bit and the suspense builds marvelously--I found the inbred young woman far more menacing in her insincere nurturing of the victim than Leatherface ever is with his chainsaw. This MOMENT of restraint is a rare treat in a movie that plays like a loud hairdryer on "HIGH" blowing in your face for 2 hours.

It's not a roller coaster...it's a trip to a devastating disaster site. Proceed at your own risk.

Summary: How on EARTH could you like the original better?!
Review: ... .

First of all, the original was made in the 70s. And let me tell you, it Shows! Although neither of the movies were truly 100% terrifying, the original just can't cut with reality. The music doesn't go along with the video--sometimes there isn't any at all in scary scenes. The death scenes are just a big guy flinging a chainsaw in front of the camera. Of course, it's old. and old movies have old quality to them.

But, thinking that the OLD one is BETTER? What the heck! It's like your saying GOOD music and GOOD special effects and GOOD acting and GOOD directing RUINS the movie!!

The script did change a little bit as well, and very much for the better. The old script had about 45 minutes of boredom, 15 minutes of scares, and 30 minutes of suspense.
The new, however, starts the scares from scene one. In fact, I'd say the first half of the movie is even scarrier than the second (when Leatherface whips out his chainsaw) Whereas the first half of the 70s version just had no nothing conversation with annoying characters.

Overall, I'd like to say for all you lamers out there who claim the remade version of this classic "ruined it" or "was stupid" or "was the dumbiest thing ever" then Get A Life! Yo mamas must have got "the original is always better" stuck in your little minds, and you don't have the guts to have your Own opinions.

Also keep in mind that I'm not dawging the original at ALL! I loved it, and it was no doubt a classic. But, everything about it is just so Old that it would never go over in this computer-age.

Summary: Why do the even try?
Review: Another bad remake.Hollywood dosent get it.This movie is nothing to the original.Yes it does have its moments but that cant save the movie. This movie dosent try at all to develop its storyline. This movie starts with some idiotic character talking about pot,who cares does that anythingto do with story.Another thing they leave great things from the original out, like the crazy brother and more insight on the family. And it does lack from originality. Before watching this movie watch the original because i cant stand people giving this movie five stars and saying it was scariest and best thing they saw.Its worth a rent and nothing less. But by looks of it the dvd will be packing some good extras so it could be a good buy for those who liked the movie.

Summary: A Whole New Massacre
Review: I think it's funny when people try and compare this film to the original that it was based off of. I am I die hard fan of the original and I think the new movie is amazing. But you can't compare them, the original scared the crap out of me when I first saw it while the new one made me jump out of my seat in the theater. The new one is a "remake" and I'm glad it was hardly anything like the original unlike some people. But some fans of the original need to recognize this "remake" for what it was, A GREAT HORROR FILM. The new movie caused people to leave the theater and left the audience screaming. It did for a whole new generation what the original did in the 70's and in my opinion that makes it a great remake. If the original came out in theaters today a lot of people would probably laugh at it because times change and it wouldn't be as scary to some people. It was time for this story to be old again but it couldn't be a cut and paste version of the original. The original is a cult classic and will always be a terrifying experience but this remake is just as good on a whole different scale.
