Summary: good DVD still missing footage!
Review: The DVD contains the film as seen in US theatres and on all previous home video releases in the US. HOWEVER, why did Paramount not release the version put out on a japanese laserdisc years ago? It has more gore! That version has been on the underground market for years. During every murder, the camera lingers an extra second or two and lets you see more blood. It should have been put on DVD. Also, couldn't they have added some extras????

Summary: it is a copy of halloween
Review: Should this movie really be considered a horror classic? Or should it get an award for copying John Carpenter's Halloween. This movie did have it's moments but it does not take a genious to know that the whole idea of the movie and it's sequels were tooken from John Carpenter's Classic, Halloween. If you watch this movie and it's sequels they are no where near the halloween series. The whole series is filled with too much sex, drugs and gore. Not much suspense or scares. The only reason this junk gets two stars is because... well it copied such a good movie!

Summary: And I wonder why I never went to camp...
Review: This is the very first horror flick I can certainly remember... I was in kindergarten when it came out. I saw it a long time later, and it is to this day one of my all time favorite horror flicks. The storyline, the revelation of the killer, the music and the direction. This is a classic for good reason... ITS SCARY AS HELL!

Summary: A CLASSIC
Review: Anyone who calls this a ripoff of Halloween is a idiot, where are the similarities? People get killed...thats about it. The killer is unseen, Micheal was always seen. The Setting is a camp, Halloween is a small Illinois town, and finally Halloween had no blood...Friday has plenty. This movie is not great art, but it it a fun ride of gore and chills. The first time i saw this film i was 5 and it scared me then and it scares me now.

Summary: scary for it's time
Review: I first saw this movie at the theater in 1980 when I was 12 and it scared the hell out of me. I could'nt sleep that night because I thought somebody was under my bed with a spear!! (remember the kevin bacon scene?) I still enjoy seeing it even after all these years because it brings back good memories.

Summary: A Classic
Review: Ok,first off,any losers that say this is a rip-off of Halloween are just repeating drivel they read some where else and obviously aren't smart enough to form their own opinoion. When I saw this movie in the theater for the first time,it scared the hell out of me. It was truly an original concept,I mean, who knew it was Jason's mother? This film used some of the creepiest sound effects and music to date in a horror movie. Plus some of the scenes are still terrifying if you aren't a de-sensitized teen-ager who merits a good horror movie by the bust-line and witty banter of the female lead. There was no room in this flick for that. This will always be one of my favorites because I saw it in the the theater and the audience was so into it. Half of what makes a horror-movie effective is proper mood and setting,so if you are just noe seeing this in the privacy of your own home on a small screen, you probably won't appreciate it as much as I do,but this was truly a great film in it's time. It was unfortunate that it was followed up by so many sorry wanna-be's but they can never take away from the spirit of this classic slasher.
