Summary: Not As Good As All The Hype
Review: Okay, okay, okay. I know. I will say that this movie is chilling. It has some decent moments. But I looked back on it recently for the first time in 15 years and I didn't understand all the hubbub. I'm not really turned on by this type of movie. I'm not gonna say it's bad, because it's not. It's just a little raw for me. I don't find that particularly fun or entertaining. This film, which was decent, led to three sequels that were arguably the worst three horror sequels ever made. They were absolutely dreadful. Still, this one is okay. Just not my thing.

Summary: The Grandaddy of all slasher Movies
Review: This is the ultimate slasher film. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre opened the doors for the Horror Franchises of the 1980's and brouught the "New Wave" horror genre into full effect. The special effects done really well for a movie made during the 1970's and the gritty film adds a more realistic feeling to the movie based on a "real life" story. Forget about Blair Witch and see Leatherface in all of his transvestite gore glory!

This movie is my personal favorite. I wish it was back in the theatres. the best part is the Hitchhiker part. If you are to young you may not understand the movie and if you think the 5 teens were not smart you must not of understanded it Pam and Kirk died looking for gas at an old house because the heard a motor and Kirk didin't have enough time to run because the hammer came down quick . then Jerry died looking for Pam and kirk and sally and franklin tried to find Jerry because he had the keys to the car and then franklin dies. so this movie makes very much sence

Summary: twisted
Review: This is a very strange film. it is regarded as one of the most violent horror films ever made (that it is), yet, strangely, there is not a lot of blood in it. I expected non-stop gore from this film, but got something completely different but twice as horrifying; a truly psychological horror movie. The movie is basically about five young people who are driving around deep texas, finding a house that is part of an inheritance. They find a complete dump, but start wandering around, until meeting the neighbors, a horrifying, inbred family of cannibals who kill them one by one. The worst of the group is a huge, disgusting man named Leatherface, who wears a mask made out of human flesh. Only one of the people, a young woman (marilyn burns), is given the chance to run, but she too is caught by them, and forced to sit with the family at the dinner table with for dinner. With her hands tied down, the viewer gets to see what true horror looks like as they do unspeakable things to her. The camera goes in close to her eyes and you can see the veins popping out. Effective stuff. And Marilyn Burns is simply outstanding, and has screaming ability equal to shelley duvall in, 'the shining.' The last two scenes in the movie are equally scary. The first on is of marilyn burns sitting in the back of a pickup truck, covered in blood, and laughing hysterically as she makes her getaway. And the last is of Leatherface whirling his chainsaw around madly. So SEE THIS MOVIE! you will probably never be the same.

Summary: The scariest film ever? No way
Review: TCM (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) is in a word, awful. There is virtually NO plot whatsoever. The whole film centers on about 5 teenagers who, due to their immense stupidity, fall victim to the demented Texas Chainsaw Man. It's a lousy movie, with lousier acting. Some call this the scariest film ever made? Ha! You could sleep through this nonsense! Do yourself - the valued customer - a favor and give TCM a skip ...

Summary: Truly disturbing cult horror!
Review: This astonishing film is the ancestor of all the "slasher" films of the late 1970's and early 80's, but remains unmatched by any of its successors. Very loosely based on the infamous necrophilic activities of Ed Gein, TCM uses this real-life horror merely as a jumping off point. TCM employs certain standard elements that have become cliches of the genre - a gaggle of vapid teens who get picked off one by one, crazed country bumpkins and a maniac wielding a weapon that cuts, slices and dices - but these customary Gothic devices supply the backbone of a truly original and terrifying film. Gore and special effects fans will be disappointed, as there is very little actual bloodletting to be seen, but this is director Tobe Hooper's ... most striking achievement. .... Amazingly, Hooper achieves a state of utter terror without any explicit blood or guts - every horrific sequence is suggested rather than shown. The design of the farmhouse - all squalor and strange bits of furniture constructed out of human bones - is the perfect setting for a nightmare. Energetic performances from the leads add to the effect, and the usual sexual angle is totally absent. The atmosphere of the film is sweltering and claustrophobic, and the final chase sequences elemental in their impact. A brilliant work of art which manages to terrify solely through the power of suggestion, this film will loge itself in your imagination. It is amazing how this movie has gained a reputation for being almost unendurable in spite of the relative restraint of the effects. Perhaps this is TCM's greatest success - a film without explicit gore that retains all the qualities of a riveting, pell-mell nightmare. See it if you dare!

Summary: All Hail The Scariest Movie Ever Made!!!
Review: There has been much talk recently about the scariest movie ever made. Indeed, The Blair Witch Project, when it come out to much hype, was heralded as the scariest movie ever.

Er, hardly.

Scariest movie? Well, it's not the Exorcist, it's not Jaws and it's not The Shining.

It's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Tobe Hooper manages to scare, right from the moment the "Mystery Machine" picks up the deranged hitchhiker to Leatherfaces debut, right to the frail granpa trying to have one more kill, to scare shock and horrify the audience. Yet, he does it with both style and reckless abandon - and almost no blood.

For this is no mere slasher pic. This is a key to the knee-jerk fear everyday people have to all those inbred hick stories that get banded around. And this is the most terryfying of them all.

Once seen, never forgotten - watch the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, (restored on DVD with superb extras) and every other film will pale in comparrison. Trust me.
