Summary: I would give it no stars if I could
Review: First, I was not impressed with this film's referencing other horror films and passing it off as clever. Even more frustrating is the fact that it mainly stole from films that were not that great to begin with. The slasher movies of the Eighties are all but forgotten because they weren't very good. They've dated horribly, just like this will. I have the same problem with this that I have with the films it emulates. I hate trendy, "hip" teenagers, didn't like them when I was a teenager, not amused by them now. Therefore, it's awfully difficult for me to muster any sympathy for these characters or even interest in what happens to them. Scream is a masterpiece of marketing and demographics, not filmmaking. Wes Craven was, is, and will always be, a hack. Last House on the Left caused me a pain that will never go away and Shocker, a film that featured the shadows of the entire film crew in its opening scenes, simply sucked. Scream is no better, possibly worse, because it has an agenda. It places itself above its audience and its influences then looks down on them with contempt thinly disguised as satire. In the 70's Mario Bava made a film called Bay of Blood, a comedy about murder in which a series of loathsome characters were systematically eliminated in increasingly imaginative ways. It flopped and nearly ruined his career.Years later, entire scenes were lifted verbatim in Friday the 13th, only without the humour or art of Bava's film. If you can find that, watch it. It's funny, violent and actively involves the audience in its attractive carnage. In other words, it's what Scream so desperately wants to be, but can't. I feel sorry for teenagers today if this is what they have to watch at Halloween parties.

Summary: GREAT, SCARY, THE BEST OF WES CRAVEN
Review: I thought that this was the best film Wes has done in ages. It was great to be scared shitless by this film. The only way to watch it is in total darkness cuddled to the one you love with a large tub of popcorn. I can't wait to see Scream 2 and I hope wes continues to do the thing he does best for years.

Summary: "Scream" is least best of Wes Craven's career
Review: I happened to have loved "A Nightmare On Elm Steet", but this was a little cheazy for me, and I thought it was kind of childish. What make's this film watachable is the fine acting.

Summary: none too good...
Review: This is a pretty annoying movie. I admit, once in awhile it startles you a bit, and sometimes it's even vaguely funny. But it's really nearly impossible to get past the oh-so-hip "look at us; we're spoofing horror films" attitude which is amply in evidence throughout. It's not a total waste of time, but that doesn't mean it's worth seeing. And really, the best way to see it is on Friday night in a theatre with a bunch of screaming high school kids. THAT'S certainly an interesting cultural experience. And...be sure to avoid the sequel like a cholera epidemic.

Summary: Horrible!
Review: What a stupid movie! First of all it had an incredibly stupid plot. It was too gory to be a mystery and too mysterious to be a slasher! All in all, I hated it. None of the characters were the least bit likable or believable.

"That's right, Sydney, sleep with that guy, go back into the house. Brillant plan."

I hope one day film critics look back on this film and laugh nervously and look at each other and ask why on Earth anyone would of liked it.

I couldn't even bring myself to get past the first twenty minutes of the sequel. And "I Know What You Did Last Summer" was horrible also because of it's incredibly dumb characters.

Summary: The breakthrough slasher flick of the 90`s
Review: Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson should be thanked for creating "Scream", the film that resurrected the dying "slasher" genre. Instead of using mindless, blood and guts messes that the other "80`s classics" left behind, "Scream" is actually a well-structured film that mocks the often inferior genre. The characters actually mention slasher movies of the past, not aware that they are also destined for the same untimely deaths. Neve Campbell is the usual virginal and wholesome teen. Her mother was butchered a year ago, and now a killer is brutally slaughtering her classmates and aquaintances. The film`s creative plot keeps you guessing all the time as to who is the one holding the knife. The ending of the film reaches a bloody climax, that is at times predictable, but also has a few unexpected shocks. Yes, the film is sort of gory, and isn`t as good as "Halloween", but it certainly worth watching again and again.

Summary: THE BEST SLASHER FILM EVER
Review: Just when u thought you would never see an original scary movie again, Wes Craven released this comic/horror film. In short; it`s brilliant and set a new school for a tired genre.
