Summary: The Season before the Best Season
Review: I loved season 4 of this series. It set the preface to events to come in the best year of the series, Season 5. The remarkable thing about this series is that you could become a fan by just turning on any episode. There was always something new in each episode that built on story lines from before but had an essence of its own. "Hush" is an amazing episode relying for the most part on acting without dialogue throughout a large portion of the episode. If silent films could have been half as good! I loved the ending of the season as well, for where most end with apocalypse this ended with an interesting story on the history of the slayer lineage. To be able to get into Joss's head would be fantastic. What makes me most excited about this dvd set coming out is that season 5 will be next, that contains the WB finale that blew away the real UPN series finale of the show. Get this dvd.

Summary: A new begining
Review: Though haled as one of the worst seasons that Joss created, I've learned its not as bad. I must first right out tell you it took me a while to understand this season and what not. I was in college at the time and didn't see the similarities. But now stepping back I can really appreciated the genius that is Joss. Basically season four picks up in the beginning of college for Buffy and friends. Buffy is struggling with becoming attune with college (and minus Angel from her world as well) life. It's that first day of school when you're not quite sure. There is a great view of when she goes into the library and sees how massive it is and feels well lost. Even though at Sunnydale Buffy wasn't much of a crowd, she always had the school library to fall upon for comfort. Her roommate is a crazy that she senses isn't something right with her and as time goes on we find out she is a demon. We are also introduced to Riley Finn, who plays an interesting part in the arc (Inactive, Corn-Breed-Perfect) who falls in nicely to try and fit in as the 'normal' boyfriend Buffy has craved for, i.e. not dead. Though their relationship doesn't sit with many, it does make a lot of sense for the 'transitional' relationship you have after a major love is lost. It's really interesting watching Buffy kind of get lost into it. Very typical for a girl. Willow is considered a Wiccan Goddess of smarts; we see the introduction of Tara and the end of a strong relationship of Willow and Oz. I didn't agree with the whole Willow going Gay, not that I didn't like Tara, but Oz and her were a strong relationship and I see Willow as being more of someone that goes by their soul not by their sex but that is not here now there. Willow is enjoying being apart of a school were they love the fact she is smart. It is kind of her element, which throws Buffy off in a way. Xander, well we see the development of his and Anya's relationship and that... well that is about it. Xander doesn't have that strong of a role in this year (nor in any other that follow) but his relationship with Anya is very nice. Giles is struggling to figure out what to do with himself. He has learned that Buffy no longer needs him as a watcher and feels his role (even father figure role) are not as important anymore. Spike... you have to just see what happens to him. Because of the elements that everyone is trying to understand themselves in a more selfish way you could say is how the big bad Adam was able to I guess almost defeat the Scooby Gang. But hey it's the Scooby gang and you can't defeat them. I've already said too much, but it's worth seeing for Hush alone and Restless. There are other ones, and just like any season on Buffy there is also it's not so great one, but you be the judge.

Summary: Character And Substance...
Review: BTVS has all the elements of great film. A strong yet vulnerable female lead, friends that are flawed but loyal, mixed with action, comedy, and unexpected exquisite moments of great acting. Many fans scoffed at Season 4 but it showed a parallel between Buffy needing to keep her being a Slayer secret meeting Riley who needs to keep the Initiative secret and the burden those secrets can cause. This season also delved into the lives of Willow and Xander and Giles away from The Slayer letting the fans know them even better. I like that there was controversy with the main characters and that Spike joined the cast full time. He is a complex character that was worth keeping in the show. "Primeval" is a stand out episode in showing the true nature of who Buffy is; who made her the way she is. Magick meets Techno in a unique way that showed how important her friends are to Buffy and how powerful they are when they join forces to fight evil. My deepest regret is that Buffy the Vampire Slayer was never nominated for an Emmy. I believe and will always believe a great injustice was done to the creative forces and steller acting of the cast of BtVS. It shows the Emmy's are more about fluff and glamour than good acting and production.

Review: The fourth season is a season of change for all the characters. Riley is great and so is the introduction of Tara. Of course the very scary Hush is a featured episode. Then there's the episode "Living Arrangements", wonderfully funny! A must have DVD for all Buffy fans!

Summary: A very underrated season of the best show on television
Review: Season 4 of buffy is diferrent from the previous three but it does make it any less as good. The season introduces new characters, "Tara", and "Riley". It also brings back characters from other seasons and makes them part of the show i.e Spike and Anya. This is the season where everyone began to grow up. Buffy and Willow start college and Xander gets a job. This is also the season where everyone in Sunnydale lost their voices, buffy gets a new and "human" boyfriend, Willow gets a "girlfriend", Buffy and Spike get engaged for an episode, Giles becomes a demon, Buffy and faith switch bodies, and where Angel kicks the [heck] out of Riley, just to name a few. If its the last thing you do, go buy this dvd boxset on June 10 when it comes out. I know i will.

Review: Season 4 was so amazing! Willow finally fully jumps out of any insecure shell! This season was amazing! I luved it! I can't really right a epi-by-epi description, but I can tell you what I thought of the whole season: AMAZING! The themes were amazing! "Hush" was groundbreaking! Everything was amazing and new! "Well, at least you all didn't dream about that guy
with the cheese." (i was cracking up during that!)
See ya, watch Buffy, I know it ended but not in my heart!

Summary: REVIEW ABOUT THE USA VERSION of Season 4...
Review: Due to the American powers that be, Fox decided NOT to release the Widescreen version of Buffy Season 4 in the USA. In every other country (UK France Australia etc) Buffy Season 4, 5 and 6 have already been released in true 16:9 format, but not here. What they released was 1/3% of the picture cut off on the left and right. Their excuse for doing this: "This was the way it was meant to be seen to block out cameras and info that got in the shot." I've seen both version and BELIEVE ME you're missing a lot! The only camera that got in the shot was in the first episode, where obviously they hadn't mastered it yet, but after that, flawless.As for the show itself, it's great. The integrity is always there by Joss Whedon, always taking chances with the characters whether fans like it or not. It's a great show, but a LOUSY USA RELEASE!

Summary: The good & bad of Season 4
Review: I'll start this by saying that all seven seasons of Buffy are great but I obviously have my favorites. Season 4 isn't one of them (Seasons 2, 3, 5 & 7 are). That said, season 4 still had its great episodes and key moments. "Hush" is one of the best episodes in all of Buffy history. An almost entirely silent episode that encapsulated all of what Buffy is. It's funny, frightening and just all around great with probably about five minutes of actual speaking (actually, maybe less than that). "Who Are You?" is also a must-see episode. The idea to have Sarah Michelle Gellar & Eliza Dushku to switch roles for an episode was great comedy and I'm sure fun for both of them to do. Also, the return of Spike as a recurring character in this season was more than welcome. The revelation of Tara and Willow's relationship was interesting and refreshingly played out by all involved. But as I said there are some clunkers in this season ("Beer Bad") and I thought that the whole Initiative/Adam thing was the weakest "Big Bad" in the entirety of Buffy. Still, the destruction of the Initiative was spectacular and the final episode of the season was puzzling (what is that guy with the cheese all about anyway?) and foretold a lot of what was to come (kid sister Dawn, among other things). To finish this up, this is well worth buying but if you don't have the first, second & third seasons, get those first.

Summary: What takes the usa so long?
Review: Season 4 was kool, but really showed there was no way BUFFY could do the College thing and be a slayer..High school's nuthin' compared to College, so glad the went another direction with her later in the series and had it that Xander did his thing too..Keeping Anya and introing Tara was kool, too, but wish oz was still around or at least had hm go with Angel after he foud out about Willow's orientation....I really want season 5 asap--the entire season was one big story about the KEY and was really a good season of the show-season six was dark but hey, it's about vampire slaying and demon killing--plus, we got that tongue in cheeck musical episode..-But why does it take so long in America to release these seasons? I've visited UK sites and see that they can by up to season 6 and a part-one video tape box set of season 7 is gonna be out in June!!! When will we see seasons 5 thru 7--2005? Let's at least get up to season 6 released by XMas!!! Oh and WB? Please give us CHARMED on dvd, too!!!

Summary: 4th season...Not the best, but keeps you wathcing.
Review: In this season, so much comes into play that you see later on in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series. Oz leaves, Willow discovers her lesbian sexuality, they all go to collage (except for Xander). Buffy meets Riely,and discover the Iniciative. So much happens in this eason and it is vital to all Buffy lovers!
