Summary: Fantastic transfer!
Review: The biggest flaw that reviewers mentioned is the absence of the pilot episode.
However, the pilot IS available on DVD. Just look for it on on-line auctions.
Otherwise, it's a must-have!
The transfer is just splendid, and all Twin Peaks fans know how important it is these beautiful landscapes in the smallest dot size possible!

Summary: The Best Show Ever - Now On DVD
Review: I am not sure how any fan can get all upset about the missing pilot. This DVD is very well put together and I can't wait to share it with all my friends that missed out on this wonderful series while it was on. I should hope all fans will buy this DVD as this will insure that the rest of the episodes are one day given the same treatment. I see now that the IMPORT Pilot DVD is now listed on Amazon for $15. I had already purchased one on Ebay for $15 including shipping. The Import may not be as well produced as this collector's set but it IS readily available for less than $20. Thank you to everyone involved in making this DVD release a reality!

Summary: Incomprehensible Junk
Review: The DVD set is bogus without the pilot. My wife and I had never seen the the show and initially thought "maybe the 'as seen in the previous episode' is one of those wierd but supposedly endearing David Lynch things." No, in fact, it's just incomplete crud due to licensing difficulties.

I plan to return my set after watching only the first episode. Maybe the series was half decent, but the DVD set is DEFECTIVE. Save your money--this is half-baked junk.

Summary: No pilot = terrible DVD
Review: I, too, sat down to watch "Twin Peaks" for the first time and was seriously annoyed to hear "Previousy on Twin Peaks..." I am sending mine back for a refund. When my friends watched this years ago, many complained of being frustrated. That must be the producers goal. They've succeeded in doing it again all these years later. And only 3 seconds into the DVD!!!!!

Summary: Buy this DVD NOW!!!
Review: Twin Peaks marked a very special time for TV. It is a very rare moment when the medium actually delivers on the promise. The first few seasons of the X-Files, the entire run of Babylon 5, the original Star Trek and the entire series run of Twin Peaks. This release would be perfect if only the 2 hour premiere were included. I still give it a five star rating because we fans finally get to see the series in vivid digital quality with 5.1 surround sound. Just one question--when is season 2 to be released? I want the entire series on DVD and I want it NOW!!!!! Including the pilot episode---please?????

Summary: Have you ever walked into a movie late?
Review: I would sooner go back to see a movie at a later date than to miss the first five minutes of it. When I sat down to watch my most eagerly anticipated DVD since I have owned my player, I was almost numb with disbelief. How could "Twin Peaks-The First Season" be complete without the singular most crucial element, the pilot episode? I own hundreds of DVDs and this is, without a doubt, the most botched ripoff on the market today. If there had been a warning that this mockery of a 'first season' did NOT include the pilot, I wouldn't have bought it. I can't even bring myself to watch it, I am so infuriated.

Summary: Why wasn't the Pilot Included???
Review: All right. I loved Twin Peaks. I wanted to share the magic with my husband who has never seen one episode. I was sooo disappointed last night when I popped the DVD into the player, clicked on Episode one, and heard "Previously on Twin Peaks"...Previously? What the heck? Where's the REAL first episode? Artisan make a HUGE blunder by not including the pilot on this DVD. It's a shame they had to ruin this DVD collection by not including the very first episode -- without the pilot, it's hard for somebody new to catch up.

I'm tempted to return my copy back to Amazon.

Summary: wait i second, something is missing
Review: when i heard that twin peaks was coming to dvd, i was beyond words. the instant i recived a copy i was threw it right in my player. time for episode 1. time for dead girl in the plastic and some killer cherry pie. i sit down with my cup of coffee to see previously on twin peaks. wait a sec, this is episode 1, disk 1 or the first season..... NO DEAD GIRL IN PLASTIC. now they are putting out fire walk with me and some other great lynch movies on dvd. i am sure season 2 will follow on dvd. but where is the pilot. i dont want it on vhs, i already have it on vhs. its worn out over the years of watching it. PLEASE PUT THE PILOT ON DVD!!!!

i really give this 3 and a half stars. its great watching it on dvd with that nice crisp picture and sound. much better then my ten year old videos with ABC ads and the such. and the intros from the log lady are a great touch. would have easily been 5 stars if not for the fact that it is missing the most important episode in the series.

Summary: Frustrated but entertained
Review: The biggest fault of this set is the omission of the pilot episode. Boo to the publishers who force fans to either remember what happened 10 years ago or scramble to find a copy at the local Blockbuster. What made it worse is that the set was published even though the pilot is not available domestically on DVD. Aside from that, the show still entertains and has captivated my wife who never watched it. Now she is crying for more. I just hope the second set doesn't omit any episodes.

Summary: The pilot isn't here for a very good reason -
Review: - because Artisan doesn't have the rights to it. Warner Brothers has exclusive rights to the pilot episode, so Artisan could NOT include it in this DVD release without their permission. Which, alas, they don't want to give. If yuo want to see the pilot released on DVD, then write to Warner. There's no point bitching about it not neing included in this set, because there was quite literally NOTHING Artisan could do about it. Be glad we're getting it AT ALL, given how long it's been since this series was originally released on VHS and Laserdisc.

One of the previous reviewers raised a valid point, though. The pilot is quite readily available in other formats on ebay, or just about any decent used video outlet. At least we can look forward to getting the rest of the series on DVD, then maybe Warner will wise up and release a Special Edition of the pilot (ie: with BOTH endings - the original T.V. ending, and the European theatrial ending). So stop comp, aining about it not being in this set, because it's not Artisan's fault.
